00:00We saw that levelling up didn't work because there hasn't been any levelling up.
00:04People feel powerless in the face of the decline of their high streets,
00:07and that means they're losing pride in the places where they live,
00:11and we can't allow that to happen.
00:12So we're going to give people the power they need to tackle problems
00:16like boarded-up shops, metal grills that have come down covered in graffiti,
00:22causing a blight, the proliferation of shops like vape shops,
00:26shops, gambling shops, fake barbers, even along the high street.
00:32Currently, communities don't have the powers they need to stop all of that,
00:35so we're giving those powers to them,
00:38and later today the Prime Minister will be announcing funding to go alongside it.
00:41That is what those communities need to take back pride in their localities.
