03:37Now, we're going to bring in our sheets and scraps of coloured paper,

03:41and we're going to cut these into long strips.

03:44Now, you can just cut these straight from the paper,

03:46or, if you like, to help you,

03:49you can draw a straight line using a pencil and a ruler,

03:52and cut along that.

03:54So, we're going to get cutting then, Danny,

03:57but we need to be careful,

03:58because scissors are...

03:59Sharp!

04:00That's right!

04:02Right, can you cut that one out for me, Danny?

04:06and I'll make some other strips over here.

04:07Carefully cut thick and thin strips out of lots of different colours.

04:15So, now we can start sticking our strips down.

04:19So, let's find a strip,

04:20this one looks good,

04:21and put on some glue.

04:24Right, here we go.

04:26I'm going to do the first one.

04:30Now, we're going to keep all of our strips lying flat in the same way,

04:34and we'll start at the top,

04:36and work our way all the way down to the bottom.

04:55if you lay some of your strips on top of each other,

05:01if you go over the edges of the paper,

05:04just make sure you keep going

05:06until your page is completely covered in stripes.

05:13So, we're nearly finished, Danny,

05:15but as you can see,

05:16some of the strips have gone over the edges of the paper.

05:21So, what we need to do is very carefully trim these off

05:24using some scissors.

05:26Just like this.

05:31And there we have it.

05:33A super stripy picture that's really colourful.

05:37And the best thing about stripy pictures

05:39is that you can make them in all sorts of different ways.

05:42How about this one?

05:43Made with light colours.

05:44Or this one,

05:47which is made with strips of old wrapping paper.

05:51Or you could even try sticking your strips the other way round.

15:42To make one, you will need pipe cleaners

15:45A pencil

15:46A paper plate

15:48Modeling clay

15:50Gloopy glue

15:51Play sand

15:53Tissue paper

15:54Coloured card

15:55A pom-pom

15:56And a small toy

15:57Take three pipe cleaners

16:01And wrap them around the top of a pencil

16:03Then bend them

16:06So they look like palm tree leaves

16:08Next, turn a paper plate upside down

16:12Put a ball of modelling clay under your plate

16:16And push your palm tree into it

16:18Like this

16:19Now cover the top of your plate in a layer of gloopy glue

16:26And sprinkle on some play sand

16:32Next, take some pieces of coloured tissue paper

16:39And stick them around the edge

16:41So it looks like waves around your tropical beach

16:44Then take a piece of coloured card

16:47And fold it slightly

16:48To make a deck chair

16:50Now glue it down

16:53To finish off your tropical island

17:00Why not add a plastic toy

17:02Or even some pom-pom coconuts

17:06Your tiny tropical island is finished

17:11And ready to play with

17:13What a great way to make a mini island
