00:00This is Bella Mantella, an Eastern Black Rhino orphan.
00:06Bella was rescued as just a two-day-old calf abandoned by her mum during the stress of the drought in Kenya in 2022.
00:16In partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service, she was nurtured back to health
00:21and she has spent the last two and a half years being raised by her caretakers at Oljogi Wildlife Conservancy.
00:29A normal day for Bella starts with the morning feed and a weigh-in.
00:35Right now she weighs over 600 kilograms.
00:39She is then taken out for the morning to browse on natural vegetation
00:44and learn about the conservancy that she will one day be released onto as a wild rhino.
00:51This is before heading back to the holding facility for a midday nap.
00:57Afternoons are also spent out in the wild before being coaxed back to base for her second feed at the end of the day.
01:07She is then left to rest in her secure pen until the next day.
