Conservatives join calls for EU to stop buying Russian oil

The Conservatives have echoed Donald Trump's calls for the European Union to halt purchases of Russian oil and gas as the Ukraine war rages on. Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Alex Burghart said the EU "should not be continuing to get one fifth of it's natural gas from Russia given what's going on in Ukraine". 00:00I think there are two things that the President said yesterday which are of interest.

00:03The first was that he thinks that Ukraine could regain the territory it's lost from Russia.

00:08But the second was that the European Union needs to step up and stop buying Russian gas and oil.

00:15And I think that if you put those two statements together, I think the President is saying,

00:21if Europe does more, America will do more.

00:23And that's a very interesting bargain.

00:25The EU should not be continuing to get one-fifth of its natural gas from Russia given what's going on in Ukraine.
