00:00Hello everyone, in this video, we're going to see how to separate the content of a cell into several different cells.
00:10It may happen, as in this case, that we have the data, for example, from a list, the first and last names in a single cell.
00:18And to work more comfortably, we need to have it separated by first name, first last name, and second last name.
00:25So in this case, we're going to see how to do everything much faster and not have to copy the first and last names in each of the cells.
00:33So, we select the cells whose content we want to separate, we go to the Data tab and choose the Text to Columns option.
00:44This window opens and in this first part we have to choose the Delimited option.
00:52We click on Next and here we see that it shows us the Separation section, that is, how our data is separated.
01:01In this case, a space is marked. If we were to mark a comma, we would see that it is not separated.
01:07We would have the option to choose Tab, Semicolon, Comma, Space, or Other.
01:14In this case, they are separated by spaces and we see that it indicates the separation that it is going to place.
01:22We click on Next and in this part we can format the different columns.
01:27In this general case, we could format it as text.
01:31We could also change the second column to text.
01:34And well, we are going to leave the third one as general.
01:37It will not affect the content either.
01:39And what is important is to mark the destination cell, which is where the data is going to start being copied.
01:46We use it, we choose the destination cell and once we have everything, we click on Finish, Accept.
01:57And we see how it has placed the name, first surname and second surname in the corresponding cell.
02:03We see that there is an error in this in these cells, in this name and surname, since it is a compound name and what it has done is separate the name, first surname and second surname and has left us one more.
02:16This would be this second surname would have to go in this cell and this name together in a single one.
02:22So, let's see how we should do it for these cases.
02:26We delete the content, select the cell, return to text to columns and in this case we are going to choose Fixed Width.
02:37We click on Next and we see that here we have a preview of the data and we can create, delete or move the line breaks.
02:44So, in this case, we are going to eliminate this separation by double clicking.
02:49If we wanted to add one, we would simply have to double click in the area where we want to add it.
02:55This is how it should be placed.
02:59We click on Next.
03:01This is exactly the same as last time.
03:04We choose the destination cell and we can change the format for each of the columns.
03:11In this case we leave it as General.
03:15We click Finish, Accept and we see how it has placed the name in the first cell, first last name and second last name.
03:23Let's see one more example.
03:28In this case we have contact phone numbers and what we want is to separate them into two columns.
03:36So, we select the data, return to text to columns and in this case we are going to use Delimited.
03:47We click on Next and see how the space is marked and the numbers are divided into three digits, which separates them completely.
03:57So, we are going to choose another one, remove the space and mark the hyphen, which is what separates one number from another.
04:06We see that in this case it separates them perfectly.
04:13We click on Next, choose the destination cell, leave the format in General and click on Finish.
04:22Accept.
04:24And we see how each one has placed the phone numbers in their corresponding column.
04:29I hope you found this useful.
04:36And we see what happens.
04:37Let's go next.
04:39Again.
04:40I am coding.
04:41Okay.
04:42That's a good one.
04:43I'll do this as well.
04:44This is the first thing.
04:45I'm going to try to answer some of the things here.
04:46I'll do this as well.
04:47It's not so hard at all.
04:48And I can also try to answer some of the things that I have to say.
04:49I will just do this as well.
04:50So, it does it matter.
04:51If you're reading the course of the crawl and your body here, you will be reading the timeline as well.
04:54I will notice it again.
04:55And then, I will just read themana button.
