As AI gradually becomes part of our daily lives, many people fear the doom it might bring. In this episode, ‘Pepito Manaloto’ star Sophia Señoron joins 2024 Harvard Nieman Fellow and former GMA News Online EIC Jaemark Tordecilla, along with Google Philippines Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy Yves Gonzalez, to discuss how AI is slowly integrating into our everyday routines. #StraightFromTheExpert #SFTE

00:00Types of tasks like summarizing and generating content.
00:05There are also generative AI tools for image generation, video and audio generation, for example, and also for computer vision.
00:17Generative AI models are data-driven, so providing them with reference data or text is essential before they can be used.
00:25Providing them with highly relevant data provides the best output.
00:30In addition, offering guidance on the expected output will further improve the generated content.
00:36How is AI being used in the workplace?
00:39For example, if you're a knowledge worker, wherein your work is about processing emails, writing emails.
00:46So sometimes you'll write an email and then you think, I want to make this sound professional.
00:51Or you're writing an email and then you think, I want to make this sound nicer.
00:58So things like that, wherein AI is able to help you adjust the tone of your email.
01:04AI is now being used to complement, to supplement everyone, a lot of people, in their everyday work.
01:13What do you think, like if I take a photo of my outfit and I ask Gemini, hey, what can I add to my outfit to give it more spice?
01:20Is it giving? Is it the vibes? Will Gemini be able to answer that?
01:23Definitely. So for example, you can take a photo, right?
01:26You tell Gemini, you're going to an event tonight.
01:28Describe your event. So let's say, is it a formal event? Is it an event with your friends, right?
01:32So that at least Gemini knows the context of the look that you're trying to go for.
01:36And then when you put in that image, and then Gemini will suggest, maybe add a scarf, add a belt, change the color.
01:42So things like that, right? Now you have basically a stylist in your pocket.
01:48Oh my gosh.
01:49According to studies, there are four main points where generative AI tools can help.
01:55Number one is the customer journey or the chat journey.
01:59So many companies are already using generative AI solutions for customer support or chatbots like virtual tutors.
02:10The second is content summarization.
02:13So you can take a very big piece of content or a complex data set and summarize this into headlines.
02:21Third is content generation.
02:23So whether it's asking you to write a speech for a toast or for generating a new image or generating a song even.
02:33And the last is coding.
02:35So you can use generative AI tools for generating code that you can put into a programming language or to do data manipulation.
02:43And so for the newsroom, a rule of thumb is that you can't use generative AI as a source of information.
02:50There are efforts right now to try to mitigate that with tools that can detect new fakes.
02:58They're not yet there, so it's harder to detect new fakes.
03:02But there's also a campaign for media organizations to spread knowledge about how easy it is for new fakes to spread.
03:10So that they know what news outlets they could go to for testing information and do not believe everything they see or read or hear online.
03:21So is it true that AI will replace humans in the workforce?
