In the wreckage of an old airplane in the desert, the girl finds a broken-down bow. When she tries to pull the string, it snaps apart in her hands, leaving her disappointed. Later, while searching for food, she throws a stone and manages to bring down a small bird by the lake. There, she also discovers a mysterious dragon scale.
She gathers dry wood and tries to start a fire by striking two stones together. Clumsily, she hits her finger, and blood drips onto the ground. As she walks past the dragon scale, a drop of blood stains it, causing it to glow and release a golden, silk-like light that swirls around her before diving straight into her forehead. She immediately collapses unconscious by the lakeshore.
Time passes through the night. At dawn, she awakens. The unlit pile of wood suddenly bursts into flames, as if ignited by an invisible force. At first, she is terrified and confused, but then she begins to realize this strange power comes from within herself.
Finally, she skewers the bird—already plucked—over a stick and roasts it above the fire. The meat turns golden and fragrant. Her expression shifts from fear to joy, her eyes shining with newfound hope for survival in the barren desert.
