00:00All right I've been doing some more work on the Yamaha seeing if I can figure out
00:07what's causing all the engine smoke when you first start it up so I thought I
00:14would check out the valves which is what I did and I got the intake valve spring
00:25off and I found out that the little oil seal was completely broken apart so that
00:32was letting oil get sucked past the valve stem getting into the cylinder which I
00:40got all that laying out there and right here is what's left of this seal see
00:53there the rubber part of it is just completely disintegrated here's the
00:58little spring that is supposed to fit right here on the top it's completely
01:12completely gone so I got a new one ordered should be here in a few days the in or
01:20the exhaust does not have a seal on it it's only on the intake for these little
01:26golf carts so when that comes in I will be reinstalling it and we'll see if that
01:35takes care of the problem I did buy a new valve cover gasket which that's already
01:42came in get the valve cover here so as soon as that part comes in I'll film putting it
01:51on and we'll see what happens with it I got got the package of valve stem seals oh there's one but I've got four of them here

07:35First of all, let's go ahead and get the string pulled back out of the cylinder because that's what was holding the spring or the valve from falling down.
07:53Now we'll get the piston back up on top dead center.
08:05Which is right there.
08:08We're on compression stroke.
08:13That's for sure.
08:15Both valves get a .004.
08:18Right now that's too tight.
08:25So we'll loosen it up.
08:27Get a little bit of drag on it.
08:31Like right there.
08:32And then you hold that in place and you tighten up the jam nut.
08:54And that feels good.
09:08And the intake.
09:10That feels a little tight.
09:12About right there.
09:38Feels good.
09:39All right.
09:53Well now what I need to do is I'll just crank it over by hand.
10:07And then we will recheck the valves.
10:29Looks pretty good.
10:31So all that's left to do now is put the valve cover back on.
10:40Alright got everything put back on.
11:08The hoses, the oil line.
11:14Those are torqued spark plug and plug wire back in.
11:19Only thing left to do is hook the battery up.
11:25Hook the negative on the battery.
11:30Throw the seat on it and take it for a drive and see if it's still going to burn oil.

12:46That really doesn't surprise me seeing how the motor was locked up.
12:55I was hoping the valve seal would have fixed it.
12:58Maybe if I drive it around more and get her broken in good, it might stop.
