FIREFIGHTER HELPS RESCUE AN EXHAUSTED HUMMINGBIRD
WITH VID
By Saloni Mathur
Watch this heartwarming video in which a firefighter finds an exhausted little hummingbird lying almost lifeless on the ground and rushes to nurse it back to health.
Burke Alexander, the firefighter, was preparing for work at a fire station in Klein, Texas, USA, when he noticed a tiny animal lying belly-up on the ground.
No stranger to acts of heroism, his life-saving instincts kicked in.
Burke said: “Really quick, I checked if he was breathing.
“I knelt down, and when I saw he was breathing, I immediately went and got some sugar water.
“But the little one did not drink the water initially. I suspected that he may have gotten trapped inside the station and tired himself out.
“But later I realised the cause of his distress was that it was wrapped in cobwebs.
“I started pulling on it and freed his wing. It had been wrapped completely.
“As I pulled that off, the hummingbird quickly recovered and flew away, it was easily able to find the exit.”
