00:00So I had a perfectly normal pregnancy. Once labour actually started we phoned
00:07I've had numerous phone exchanges with the hospital in which we were never
00:12invited in for hospital and the concerns that we'd raised it turns out we were
00:18right with the gut instincts that we had and when we finally arrived at the
00:22hospital I was it I was induced the concerns that there were around Alliona's
00:27heart rate weren't acted on they weren't escalated properly policies and
00:32protocols weren't adhered to and she should have been delivered hours and
00:36hours before and what ultimately turned out I was enforced to endure a 72 hour
00:40labour and even if they'd bothered to deliver her 10 minutes earlier she would
00:44still be alive there were numerous signs hours and hours before and they just
00:51they just failed to do their jobs on the most basic of levels. So you formed this
00:56group along with other families that have faced similar issues you've faced and
01:01just last week you met with Health Secretary West Street in why did you
01:07meet with with the Health Secretary and what was discussed at the meeting?
01:10Yeah our concerns around Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust have existed from the
01:15moment that our daughter died and those concerns have have have grown for the
01:21last pushing nearly six years now and in the depths of our despair we needed other
01:27families that understood us that were the same as us and we started to find them
01:31through bits of other media that people had done and as you said with other
01:35families we we formed the group together and the more that we've looked the
01:41more that we've found and the concerns have been voiced to every regulator every
01:48agency and then obviously most recently to West Streeting following the BBC
01:54investigation at the start of this year there have been numerous letters to
01:59West Streeting and there's been a number of meetings now and he honored a
02:06commitment that he'd made to us to actually come to Leeds and actually meet
02:10the families face-to-face for further discussion around what is going to be the
02:15most appropriate form of investigation into Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust
02:21because obviously it has been included within one of the named 14 trusts that's
02:25to be investigated however families feel that that is not that is not enough for
02:31what is needed here. So the the National Maternity Investigation will not go as far
02:37enough as to go into the frontline practices start again the National Maternity
02:42Investigation will barely scratch at the frontline practices that are failing in
02:48maternity in this country let alone get anywhere into the cultures that allow
02:52those practices to continue or the people that allow those cultures to
02:56perpetuate hence why it's not enough in Leeds this is one of the biggest
02:59teaching hospitals in Europe and the biggest acute trusts in Europe and the
03:04problems are endemic and the Leeds doesn't get a clean break in terms of
03:10scrutiny there are far too many people in the system who are linked to reviews and
03:14are linked to the regulators in this country for us to have something that's
03:18ever going to be independent hence why we have been calling for an
03:22independent inquiry into Leeds Teaching Hospitals maternity services to be led by
03:27Donna Rockenden because the national picture is that the National Maternity
03:31investigation will most likely fail and that also other trusts around the country
03:37such as Sussex should be entitled to similar independent inquiries because this
03:41is the way in the way that potential services are going to improve
