Transcript
00:00we um applied to be part of the national tour for the baton of hope last november
00:06um the national baton of hope tour is traveled across 20 locations we were lucky enough to be
00:12one of those and it's traveled across the whole country and it's in hastings today 23rd of
00:18september and it's the largest suicide awareness campaign in the uk and we have 43 people carrying
00:25the baton of hope across hastings today and each and every one is carrying them that for their own
00:31personal reasons in memory of somebody that's lost a suicide or in recognition of their own
00:36personal journey so the campaign is all about raising awareness um and prevention linking
00:43signposting and encouraging open and honest conversations and trying to tackle some of
00:48the stigma around having those conversations and about being able to say i this i do feel this
00:55bleak i do feel this low and somebody being able to receive that and not being too frightened to carry
01:01that conversation on and being able to support that person and know where to signpost them to
01:06and ultimately it's all about hope it's about hope that there is another way that we are here and
01:11today we're saying that hastings really cares and we want to say you know there is hope there is love
01:17and and we can all support each other to tackle this really insidious and and the horrible you know
01:24suicide because we can we can do it together
