01:04It's very important that we follow a whole of society approach here.
01:10We want everybody to be on board, everybody to be aware of the risks,
01:15but also of the opportunities and the possibilities that the energy transition can offer.
01:22Because the Philippines is in a position where you actually need to work on that,
01:27need to work on your future energy mix,
01:29because we all have agreed to phase out fossil fuels in the future years.
01:35So there is an immediate action that's needed,
01:38and I think renewable energies can do a great share to achieve this.
01:44It also highlights our contribution to the same global movement
01:50and power commitment to the growth set forth in the Paris Agreement.

02:05We've been here for over 50 years implementing many sorts of development activities.
02:11Now that Philippines has progressed and is becoming a very rich country,
02:15there are still aspects on the energy transition that are necessary.
02:20And similar to Germany, there's not many easily accessible fossil fuels.
02:25So the real natural resource of the Philippines is sun and wind.
02:30So just like in Germany, the energy transition is not easy,
02:34and it really does take multiple sectors.
02:36So political, it takes academic, it takes scientific institutions,
02:40and it needs society to really create a whole-of-nation approach
02:45to addressing the energy needs.
02:49It's an attempt and an effort to really unite us all
02:53in thinking about what the challenges of the futures are.
