Dans sa tour HLM de New Lodge, dans le centre de Belfast, Joe McNally met en scène des souvenirs de son enfance vécue durant les "Troubles". Il revient sur ce terrible conflit armé qui déchira l'Irlande du Nord des années 1960 à 1998, faisant près de 3500 victimes, et qui fit des ravages dans ce quartier catholique de Belfast. Jolene, Sean, Angie et d'autres voisins se joignent à lui pour revisiter leur mémoire collective, qui a façonné leur vie et leur quartier. Ensemble, ils évoquent leur détermination à se libérer du joug britannique...
