00:00Cheers and celebrations filled the air at the Ayala Triangle in Makati City as the inaugural Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge kicked off yesterday, featuring some of the world's top-ranked pole vaulters.
00:12Among the 10 competitors, Filipino star EJ Obiana rose above the rest, claiming the title after clearing 5.80 meters on his second attempt.
00:21It was closely followed by Thibaut Collet of France, who also cleared 5.80 meters but only on his third attempt.
00:29The bronze medal went to Pyotr Lisek of Poland with a mark of 5.60 meters.
00:35Other finalists included Erso Sasma of Turkey with 5.45 meters, Matt Ludwig of the USA 5.45 meters, Oleg Zernickel with 5.30 meters, and American Austin Miller with 5.30 meters.
00:49Meanwhile, the women's division also took center stage at the National Pole Vault Competition.
00:54Filipino-American Aliana Nicolás captured the crown with a one-time clearance of 3.80 meters.
01:00Amy Christensen took silver with 3.70 meters, while Gia Kawachi and Jessa Marie Libre shared the bronze spot after clearing 3.40 meters.
