00:00Parti Labelle didn't envision a six-decade career when she entered the music business during the
00:1060s at just 14 years old, but 67 years later, she doesn't take it for granted.
00:17It's beautiful. And the thing is, we all worked together before with Gladys and Steph and Shaka.
00:24We've all done shows way back in the day. And to come back with the Queens tour, it's just beautiful.
00:30I'm proud that I'm still able to walk on stage and sing a song, because we can't take it for granted.
00:38You know, sometimes I lose my voice, and no matter what, I've got to keep on pushing.
00:43But you still go out there and kill it.
00:45I got to, boo. And you too. I mean, but you never lose your voice.
00:50I do, yeah. Honey, I'll be struggling.
00:52Yeah, but we keep on keeping on.
00:56Individually, the impact of Cannes, Knight, Labelle, and Mills within the music industry and pop culture
01:01can't be quantified, and fans and critics alike have praised them.
01:06That's what I hear all the time. I still, I hear it all the time.
01:12You know, I was weaned on you, you know, from mother to grandmother.
01:15It's lovely to hear. I'm sure I can't grasp the feeling that they're feeling.
01:24But I get it, I think. And I think it's pretty special.
01:32Labelle, along with fellow musical Monarchs, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, and Stephanie Mills
01:36will continue their royal procession throughout America for the Queens for Legion first stage tour.
01:42I love it. I love to sing. I love to perform. I love to create. I love it. It's all I know how to do.
01:49I wouldn't know how to do anything else. I've never had what you call a regular job.
01:55I started very young. I was 11, my first Broadway show.
02:00The second leg of the tour will wrap October 5 in Cleveland.
