00:00And that Edelbrock ProFlow EFI is going to run awesome.
00:03I know he's going to appreciate all the work that you're doing and everybody else is doing,
00:07but like you said, Tory sacrificed himself for this country and for so many people,
00:12so giving back to him really, it's a good thing.
00:14Welcome to Sam's Garage, presented by NH Oil Undercoding.
00:30This week, the Bandit Project reaches the finish line with a complete LS swap, OEM-style exhaust,
00:55wheelwood brakes, and digital gauges that blend factory looks with new school power.
01:00Then we head under Vic's 66 Mustang for the big moment.
01:04The Holley LS swap finally fires up with an MSD ignition and sniper EFI system.
01:09With an Edelbrock ProFlow EFI and a full team of builders,
01:13we're giving back to a 911 survivor who deserves more than just horsepower.
01:18He deserves a dream car.
01:20And finally, at NHLU, Joe and Joey introduced their all-new V3 oil,
01:25a product designed to fight surface rust and protect vehicles for the long haul.
01:30The Bandit Project is in the home stretch.
01:3999.5% complete and loaded with upgrades.
01:43From a full LS swap and pipes exhaust to wheelwood brakes and decoded digital gauges,
01:49this car is now factory-fresh muscle with modern performance.
01:53Now, Julie, how many times have I said that the last 10% takes way longer than the first 90%?
01:59Yeah, it happens a lot.
02:00Well, that's where we're at.
02:01That means that I'm going to be in a lot of pain because I have to go underneath the dashboard
02:04and install my American Powertrain complete hydraulic clutch pedal assembly.
02:08And I want to go ahead and get my factory hood scoop right where it needs to be
02:12so it looks factory-fresh and still shakes when you hit the gas.
02:15I got to hit the power steering stuff, just a little bit of odds it ends.
02:18And we're at that point, we're going to be doing this, and hopefully it'll run today.
02:22All right, we've got the Bandit pretty much done.
02:24It's about 99.5%.
02:27The pipe's exhaust is installed.
02:29I like the fact that we decided to go with the OEM style.
02:32Now, there are two styles, one out the back, one down.
02:34I like that one better.
02:35Yeah, that exhaust really, you really did a great job putting that together.
02:39It looks perfect.
02:40It's a perfect fit underneath.
02:41Well, pipes really came through with that exhaust.
02:43We did a good job building it.
02:45We did a good job adapting to the LS swap.
02:49Yep.
02:50And Ron's machining service.
02:51You've got to upgrade the rear end, guys.
02:53Anytime you're doing a swap like we're doing, you've got to upgrade the rear end.
02:56We've got stock OEM disc brakes, though.
02:58It is a WS6, right?
03:00It has 342 gears.
03:01We went to Ron's machining service.
03:03It's got the Elite brand, Torsen differential, along with 373 gears and 30 spline axles.
03:08Everything we need to do the full upgrade kit on this car, that's been done and completed.
03:13The rear Summit Racing springs and sway bar really complemented the handling capabilities of the car
03:17and makes it look a lot better under there.
03:20And we've got the clutch pedal in there from American Powertrain.
03:24We've got the bell housing kit.
03:25We've got everything we needed to put the TKX behind the LS swap.
03:28We've got it bled.
03:29Everything is good to go as far as that goes.
03:32And it bled pretty easily considering...
03:34No, it really did.
03:34It really did.
03:35That was probably...
03:36I've bled a lot of clutches with you.
03:37That was really, really quick, too.
03:40Now, going on the inside, we've got the Dakota Digital Instrument Cluster.
03:46That is nice.
03:47Yeah, that looks great.
03:49It doesn't take away from the authenticity of the vehicle, too, so...
03:54Anytime we're doing a horsepower upgrade, you've got to do the wheelwood brakes.
03:58Oh, yeah.
03:59We've got four-piston wheelwood brakes in the back with 12.8-inch rotors.
04:02We've got the same 13-inch rotors up front with six-piston wheelwood calipers.
04:06Huge complement to the braking power of this vehicle.
04:08Yeah, I was really shocked when we took the wheels off this car and saw that they actually had factory brakes.
04:14At least the rear ones were from the factory still from 1879.
04:19Yep, but he did his due diligence and put a four-piston wheelwood kit up front because he knows better.
04:23So he's a smart guy.
04:25The BRP hot rod engine mounts that we use, along with the crossmember, they're right here in North Georgia.
04:34They do an awesome job with all the old-school engine swaps, whether it's an LT or an LS.
04:39Check them out.
04:40They've got everything you need as far as A-body, B-body, everything.
04:43The Dirty Dingle front-runner system.
04:46Yeah, that's always really nice.
04:47Very nice.
04:47Very good quality.
04:48American-made.
04:49He's a veteran.
04:50He does a very good job.
04:51He's been doing this since 2006.
04:53He is the master, one of them at least, when it comes to LS swaps and classic American cars.
04:58The ProFlow EFI, awesome.
05:01Edelbrock really knocks it out the park with that system.
05:04It works really well.
05:05Very easy to program.
05:07You can use it with your phone.
05:08Very nice system.
05:09The cold case cooling system, you've got to have that.
05:13Yeah, and I mean, it fits like a glove.
05:15It looks great.
05:16Three-row, a lot of cooling power, very efficient.
05:18Yeah, and it always just looks nice.
05:20I mean, you know, factory radiators don't look nice, and every time you put in, you know, a cold case, it really adds to, you know, under the hood.
05:29It really turned out nice.
05:30This Summit Racing Bandit project is a very cool project.
05:33I think Mark's going to really enjoy it.
05:35All we've got to do now is put some gas in this thing, and hopefully it'll run.
05:37So, it's not going to go home yet, but it's going to run.
05:45Sam's Garage is presented by NHOU.
05:50Brought to you by the following companies.
05:52Welcome back to Sam's Garage, presented by NH Oil Undercoding.
06:22Today's the day Vicks 66 Mustang wakes up with LS power.
06:31With an MSD ignition box, sniper EFI, and some final wiring, this project is ready to roar to life.
06:39Old school looks and modern muscle bring everything together.
06:43All right, so this is an exciting day.
06:47It's the day that Vicks 66 Holley LS project fires up.
06:52All we've got to do is install the MSD ignition box for an LS engine, and we should be good to go.
06:56I've got the radiator hoses complete.
06:58The heater hoses are installed.
06:59I've got to run my power on ground to the alternator, ground to the chassis for the engine block so the starter engages.
07:06Yeah.
07:06And we should be good to go.
07:07As long as she does everything correctly, you should fire.
07:10Pretty cool.
07:11Come a long way since these things first came out.
07:13What we have here is an LS series controller box.
07:16It's got the switch for you to tell it which engine you have, because this is good for both a 24 or a 58 tooth reluctor wheel.
07:24It's got a vacuum port in case you have to run boost, but it needs that reference for vacuum because it's a speed density setup.
07:30We have the sub harness, one's for the ignition.
07:33It's got pretty long leads, but if you remember, I put my coal packs down there on the frame rails, and I have extension harnesses that come in the LS Classic kit.
07:42There you go, Sam.
07:43Thank you, Julie.
07:44All right, so these are the extension harnesses that comes in the low car LS Classic kit.
07:48It's going to extend if I don't have enough room here to go down.
07:53We also have the crank position sensors and cam sensors.
07:56This is a pretty flawless, easy install.
08:18So this is really simple.
08:20One thing about MSD is it's so reliable.
08:22It's been around for 100 years.
08:23And you just pretty much plug and play.
08:26And if you don't pull out the laptop, you're almost good to go.
08:28It's going to fire.
08:29And then you have to make sure whether you have a 58 tooth or a 24 tooth LS engine.
08:34I went to the sub harness, found the violet wire for me to hook up my tack output for the MSD box to the sniper, went into the sniper, changed the settings inside there to my displacement, my camshaft, and what input I have.
08:50Being a CD box, in this case, going from a negative coil wire input.
08:54And it fires right up.
08:56So, let's hear it run.
08:58Ready?
08:59Yeah.
08:59Yeah.
08:59This thing turned out pretty good, okay?
09:16It's got a LS engine and a 1966 Mustang.
09:19Vic is not going to know the difference.
09:21And hopefully, it'll fool him.
09:22I do have a little clearancing issues, but it's all been taken care of at the master cylinder.
09:26So, we're good to go.
09:32This was the secret to saving our butt today.
09:35How many times have I shown you how to put pressure in the cooling system with nothing in it, just to make sure you have no leaks?
09:40Well, we found the crossover tube rusted behind this black.
09:45You wouldn't even be able to see it until you put coolant and it was pressurized.
09:47Change that out.
09:49And then the pet cock right here, the piece that tightens and loosens the actual pet cock itself is just rotating and it's not working at all.
09:57So, those are two big fines.
09:58Yeah.
09:59That would have cost us a big mess in coolant and a lot of money.
10:02We don't need that.
10:03We don't need that.
10:03We don't like messes.
10:04There's no reason to be a mess in mechanic out there.
10:06Okay, guys?
10:07I think we've had enough of those.
10:08Yeah.
10:09Especially with the four engine that came out.
10:10All right, this is all fully done.
10:12Now, the next thing we're going to do is button everything up, all the little knick-knack things.
10:15Like I said, the last 1% to 2% takes longer than the first 99%.
10:18But the good thing is that it runs and it's motivating to get it done, right?
10:22Yep, sounds great.
10:23All right, get it done.
10:23Let me know when you're ready.
10:35Rust is like cancer.
10:36And in some ways, we're like a cancer research, right?
10:39And we're just trying to figure out, how do we slow it down?
10:42We ever get rid of it?
10:44No, but we can maybe put it into remission.
10:46So you get an extra 10, 15 years out of your vehicle.
10:50You can go on to my F-150 and I encourage you to take a little rag and wipe away the greasy spots around the frame.
10:56It's shiny black metal in most cases.
10:59So that's indicative of you being diligent with your service.
11:03And the way the wax works, whether we're using the regular or the hybrid, is it comes in, it's more money.
11:08It's an overnight process because you actually have to prep the vehicle, right?
11:13It's a lot harder to clean off than the oil.
11:15So, you know, we're wrapping the exhaust system, the drive shaft.
11:19That will spin out of balance with the wax, unlike the oil, right?
11:22And then we hang paper to keep it from getting on the outside.
11:26We spray it, we finish it up the next day, and then they come back every two years for a touch-up.
11:31So every two years, we re-oil all the cavities, and then we look the wax over for, you know, scratches, stuff on moving components,
11:40and we continuously touch those up every two years.
11:43Welcome back to more Sam's Garage, presented by NHOU.
11:56We're back on Torrey's Camaro, and this time, it's personal.
12:01With Edelbrock ProFlow EFI, a full rebuild, and a team of friends and builders,
12:06this car is becoming the dream he never got.
12:09From 9-11 Survivor to show-stopping revival, this one's special.
12:16All right, so we got Torrey DeBlasi's 92 Camaro back in the shop.
12:19The last time we worked on this, we put an EFI on it, but I'm going to go with an Edelbrock ProFlow EFI.
12:24That way, he can tune in himself when he's at home.
12:26They do an awesome job of making these cars look old-school and run new-school.
12:31So, first thing we're going to do is yank everything off and install the new Edelbrock.
12:34What we're doing with Torrey's car is there was a show where he was promised a Camaro.
12:40They built him a car, and he never received that car.
12:44And so, Michael Brionza came up to me and said,
12:47You know what, Sam, let's do something for Torrey.
12:49I'd like to showcase that car.
12:50I said, Well, Mike, you never got that car.
12:51I said, But I do have his personal car here.
12:53So, we're going to take this car.
12:55We're going to build it up.
12:56With the help of Michael Brionza, we're going to send it off to Frank and Michelle Engerman.
13:00And they are a wife-husband team who do body work.
13:03So, after Frank and Michelle are done with their part,
13:05we're going to send it off to Gil and Linda at Gil and Custom Designs.
13:09And he's going to do the whole interior for Torrey.
13:11We all feel bad for what's going on, so we want to do something nice for Torrey.
13:15He was a first responder at 2001-911.
13:19He is a survivor, so we want to give back to him.
13:24All right, guys.
13:25You see what we pulled out?
13:27Giant harness.
13:28This is to run the GM controller.
13:30It's giant.
13:30You wonder why we charge so much to hide this stuff.
13:36We've got our Edelbrock Profile EFI.
13:38This is for an LS3 with rectangular ports.
13:41It comes with a very nice compact harness.
13:44And then, depending on whether you have a 24-tooth or a 58-tooth,
13:48you'll have to buy the sub-harness for the crank sensor and the cam sensor.
13:52What you want to do before you install everything is make sure this is going to work for you.
13:55All the caps that you need plugged off as far as vacuum goes is plugged off.
14:00The metal plugs is already installed by Edelbrock.
14:03So all I'm going to do now is flip this thing over, and we're going to install the O-rings.
14:07And it's very important that once you guys install these O-rings, before you put them on the vehicle,
14:12put a little bit of grease around the ports on the heads so that when you go to slide it,
14:16these guys won't roll out of their places.
14:18Now, the feed line for the fuel is going to be over here at passenger front.
14:22My feed line is going to be back here.
14:24So I'm going to swap this over to the front.
14:26I don't have to remove the rails.
14:27I just have to remove the ends on both sides and swap them front to rear.
14:30All right.
14:43So what we did was ran the power and ground wire to the alternator using it as a junction
14:48because on this particular car, there is a power wire that goes across the core support
14:51because the battery is on the passenger side, and so the alternator is on the driver's side.
14:55So I got that connected.
14:56I've got my wire for the Edelbrock Pro Flow connected to the alternator.
15:01Another cool thing with the Edelbrock is, like I said, you can do all the functions with your cell phone
15:05so you don't need an extra handheld.
15:06There is no wire going in and out of the car.
15:08So it's important.
15:09That's what makes Edelbrock so nice.
15:10It's nice and easy.
15:12This is what GM uses in all their crate engines forever.
15:15Used to be fast fuel air spark technology.
15:18Edelbrock took them over.
15:22Looks like we're complete.
15:24It will not run today.
15:25It probably won't run for a year, but Tori, I'm telling you, you've got one coming,
15:30and Mike Brionza is going to be heading the whole project because it's he who brought it up to me,
15:36and it's going to be at Carlisle in 2026 where we're going to reveal this project during the GM show.
15:41Yeah, it's going to be great.
15:43Yeah, Tori's going to love this.
15:44This Edelbrock system is really nice, and it's easy to use, and like you said,
15:47I mean, the bonus of being able to do it yourself on your cell phone instead of having to call you all the time and say,
15:53hey, Sam, I need you to do this for me.
15:54It gets expensive.
16:00Sam's Garage is presented by NH Oil Undercoating.
16:05It's brought to you by the following companies.
16:23Welcome back to Sam's Garage, presented by NHOU.
16:37Vehicles cost more than ever, and rust waits for no one.
16:40At NHOU, Joe and Joey are unveiling their new V3 oil, a cutting-edge formula designed to fight surface rust,
16:49creep deep into seams, and keep your investment safe.
16:53Protection built for today's roads.
16:56You guys, today vehicles have gotten double the price, sometimes triple the price,
16:59and we want to protect that investment and make sure that vehicle can last as long as possible on the road,
17:04and that's where NHOU comes in.
17:05We have a completely new product.
17:07What's it called?
17:08It's NHOU Boss Wax Hybrid, okay?
17:11Because we're in the industry not just to develop products and sell products,
17:15but we consume the products, we see the vehicles coming in on a regular basis.
17:19A big problem right now is brand-new, off-the-showroom-floor vehicles come in with surface rust,
17:25but stuff that you shouldn't see on the undercarriage of a vehicle.
17:28And that's the beginning, right?
17:29That's the beginning.
17:30And so if people say they want to use our Box Wax, great.
17:34Box Wax really isn't designed to grow the rust.
17:37And so we're happy to remove this rust and, you know, play games and whatever,
17:40you know, to get the surface the way we need it.
17:43So what we did was we said, okay, how can we mitigate that rust and still offer them the warranty?
17:49And so what we've done is we've made a product.
17:51This is the product after six months.
17:54This is a product that's solidified.
17:57It creeped up to two inches.
17:58That actually is going to mitigate surface rust.
18:02And it takes about three months before it solidifies and sails,
18:05and you're not worried about encapsulation.
18:13You have individuals that have a vehicle that's a few years old,
18:17got very mild surface rust,
18:19but they're not a candidate for our traditional Boss Wax
18:22because there's zero penetration and zero creeping.
18:25So with this product, you address that by having the oil in it to soak into the rust first
18:31before the wax solidifies on the surface and cures.
18:35And the Boss Wax originally you would have put on a new vehicle where it's completely clean,
18:40and that's what you put on, and you service it rust-free.
18:42And you service it how often?
18:43Every two years.
18:45Yeah, you come in every two years.
18:46Basically, it's a lifetime warranty on the barrier.
18:50So you come in, you have a breach in the surface, we touch it up, no problem.
18:53We re-oil the body cavities.
18:55It takes about 45 minutes, half hour, 45 minutes.
18:58So coming back in and having a maintenance program is as important as a good product.
19:03Maintenance is always more important.
19:05It's going to cost less in the long run.
19:06People think maintenance costs money, but it doesn't,
19:08because once a tragedy occurs, it's 10 times more money.
19:11So it's very important that you guys do maintenance.
19:13Yep, that's what we're all about.
19:15No magic bullet, one and done.
19:22When you guys apply the wax, you use a standard oil in the cavities, or do you use the wax?
19:27We use a regular oil in the cavities.
19:30That's the finish, too, by the way.
19:31So that allows you to go through a car wash, dry to the touch,
19:35no collection of dirt and dust, which is what, when people come in with new vehicles,
19:39they kind of lean away from the oil a little bit,
19:41because they don't want a dirty, dusty, greasy undercarriage.
19:45But that's a nice clean.
19:46You can go through car washes if you feel it's necessary, and it's dry to the touch.
19:51And then oil in the body cavities, because that's actually where you can't see,
19:55and the oil is going to creep seven, eight, nine inches,
19:58and you want to penetrate into the seams, spot wells, and the folds.
20:01And a rocker panel, you can't see it, so you've got to spray oil.
20:04You know, when you think about it, the maintenance is pennies to the dollar
20:07compared to replacing it and the investment money that you lose.
20:10Cheap insurance.
20:10Very important.
20:11So what we're going to do next week is we're going to show you two Ford trucks,
20:14one being a 2012 that has been coated and protected, belongs to Joe himself,
20:18one being a 2013, both Fords.
20:20And the 2013 may appear to be perfectly fine on the outside,
20:22but when you look up underneath, it is completely done for.
20:25So, join us next week when we come back to NHLU and show you further
20:29how you guys can protect your investment.
20:40Be sure to check out Sam's Garage on these other media platforms.
20:45Send us questions and feedback to info at samsgaragetv.com.
20:50That's a wrap for this episode of Sam's Garage.
20:53The Bandit's nearly road-ready, Vicks Mustang fires to life,
20:59and Tori's Camaro is on its way to becoming something truly unforgettable.
21:03Plus, NHLU continues to push innovation in vehicle protection.
21:09Stay tuned.
21:10There's always more to come right here on Sam's Garage.
