00:00Will Bollywood actress Jacqueline manage to clear her name, or will the shadow of India's
00:04most infamous con man continue to haunt her?
00:06Jacqueline Fernandez has filed a plea in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court's
00:10refusal to quash a Rs 215 crore money laundering case linked to con man's showcase Chandrasekhar.
00:17This comes after the Delhi High Court on July 3rd flatly dismissed her request to quash the
00:20enforcement directorate's FIR.
00:22The court made it clear the question of her guilt or innocence can only be decided by
00:26the trial court.
00:27Fernandez has strongly denied all charges, insisting that the allegations are false
00:31and that she had no knowledge of Chandrasekhar's criminal history.
00:34But the enforcement directorate has painted a different picture, naming Jacqueline as a
00:38co-accused in a fraud that runs over Rs 200 crore.
00:41According to the charge sheet filed on August 17, 2022, she accepted gifts worth Rs 7 crore,
00:46including jewellery, luxury items, cars and designer clothes from Chandrasekhar, despite
00:51being aware of his alleged involvement in the organised crime.
00:54The ED further claimed that Fernandez deleted data from her phone after Chandrasekhar's arrest
00:58and initially concealed details of financial transactions and only came clean when confronted
01:02with hard evidence.
01:04The High Court, while refraining from commenting on the truth of these allegations, held that
01:08such circumstances did not warrant cancellation of the case at this stage.
01:12Now, with Jacqueline Fernandez escalating the battle to the Supreme Court, all eyes will
01:16be on how the country's top court weighs in on one of India's most high-profile financial
01:21crimes cases.
01:23Law.
