Storm King Art Center is a huge sculpture park in New York's Hudson Valley, near the town of New Windsor in Orange County. Established in 1960 by founders H. Peter Stern, L. Judson Moorhouse, and David Collins, it was originally envisioned as a space to showcase large-scale modern and contemporary sculptures integrated with the natural landscape. Today, it houses over 100 monumental works by prominent artists such as Alexander Calder, Dennis Oppenheim, Alexander Liberman, Chakaia Booker, Mark di Suvero, and Louise Nevelson, many of which are site-specific commissions designed to interact with the rolling meadows, hills, woodlands, and open skies of the property.Visitors can explore the grounds via walking paths, trams, or bike rentals, experiencing the art in an immersive, open-air setting. VernissageTV first visited Storm King Art Center in 2014, on the occasion of the opening of Chinese artist Zhang Huan’s exhibition Evoking Tradition. Since then, a lot has changed. New artworks have been added, and there's a new entrance and the Outdoor Lobby. In 2014, we had a look at the South Fields and Museum Hill areas of the sculpture park, in this video we focus on the North Woods and Museum Hill sections.
