00:00Michigan-Nebraska, Joe, you know what I like about this game?
00:02Michigan went on the road, didn't win at OU, but played in OU in that tough environment.
00:06Another tough environment today in Nebraska.
00:08100,000 strong out here, and how about this?
00:11Line opened up, Joe.
00:12Minus three and a half, favorite towards Michigan.
00:15I look now, minus one and a half, and even some options going to Nebraska
00:19as the favorite now, and a total of 47 and a half.
00:22What gives here, Joe?
00:23Well, again, series perspective, and they haven't played since Michigan won
00:26the national championship that year with J.J. McCarthy.
00:29They beat him up a couple years ago, but Michigan has won four straight in the series.
00:33They've won those games by an average margin of victory at 29 and a half points per game.
00:38You would think that Rayola has the edge over Underwood, right?
00:42Underwood made that road performance.
00:44He struggled against a very good defense in Oklahoma.
00:47Venables outcoached that team and Jerome Moore to really handcuff Bryce Underwood,
00:53but we've seen them break out last week against Central Michigan.
00:56Now they go back on the road.
00:58I like Michigan in this spot.
01:00Again, I'm very high on Nebraska big picture.
01:03I still think they could be a nine-win football team.
01:06A lot of pressure on Nebraska.
01:07I didn't like the way they played against Cincinnati week number one,
01:10and I just think Michigan can run the football on them.
01:14I like Bryce Underwood's athleticism, his number on the ground, Donnie.
01:1729 and a half.
01:19I altered him as high as 40 plus.
01:21I just think Michigan steps up in this spot, and the fact that we've seen line movement in favor of Nebraska,
01:27a lot of people are on the Cornhuskers.
01:30I'm going to take the other side.
01:31I think this is a lower-scoring game, but give me Michigan.
01:35By the way, Michigan as a program won a championship.
01:37They cheated to get that championship, but I respect it, Joe.
01:40A team that you can say, you know what?
01:41This team has played in big games and won a national championship.
01:44Growing up, for me, in the 1980s and the 1990s, Nebraska was everything.
01:48Big, strong offensive line.
01:50Unbelievable, talented option quarterback.
01:51Dominant running backs here, and a fearsome black shirt defense.
01:55That's no longer the case.
01:56And, like, I don't want to say, like, Nebraska can't ever get back to it,
01:59but it just feels fraud might not be the word as a program, but Nebraska,
02:02could this be their year?
02:04Joe, it's never their year.
02:05When are they going to get big wins?
02:06Today?
02:07Yeah, well, it should be.
02:08I mean, here's the thing.
02:09I think when you look at Matt Rule overall, he takes over.
02:12Over the first year, they weren't in a bowl since 2014,
02:15since they played Tennessee, right, the Music City Bowl.
02:19And he gets them to 5-7.
02:21They lost, like, four games less than a touchdown.
02:23They were on the cusp.
02:24They broke through last year, made it to a bowl,
02:27and now in year number three, this is the year that they're supposed to break out.
02:31I will say, when he took over the program, from a physicality perspective,
02:35Nebraska was allowing 192 rushing yards per game.
02:38And when you think about when we grew up,
02:40guys like Mike Minner, Jay Foreman, the Peters brothers, Mike Brown, Ralph Brown.
02:45Thunder Collins.
02:46Right, yeah.
02:48D'Angelo Evans, right, back in the day, 98.
02:52But you would think physicality in run support.
02:55That wasn't the case.
02:56They got back down to right around 100 yards over the past couple of years.
03:00They were physical last year.
03:02They didn't give up a lot of yards on the ground.
03:04Now, fast forward to this year, they're around a buck 34 on the ground.
03:08The secondaries played well, but go back to the game against Cincinnati.
03:12Cincinnati was able to move the football.
03:14Again, if you look at Bryce Underwood and you look at this Michigan team built to pound
03:19the rock between the tackles, this is, I believe, a difficult matchup.
03:24That's why I'm laying it.
03:25I laid the one and a half, Donnie.
03:26I think it's a close game, but give me Underwood.
03:29Give me that athleticism and all the pressure on Matt Rule to pull this out.
03:33Let's see what I'm going to do.
