00:00You've lost a lot of people when you're very close to the support network.
00:04Can you talk about the support network you still have at the club?
00:08How important that is for you as a manager going forward to have that support network?
00:13I don't want to forget anybody.
00:15So we're starting obviously from Stan and Joe.
00:19We have very fluent communication and a lot of alignment in what we want to achieve
00:24and a lot of support from them.
00:26And then with Ailey, especially with Rich, with Andrea for sure,
00:31probably the person that I talk the most with, with James, with the other James,
00:38and after with everybody that is linking our operation, which is a lot of people.
00:43So that's not an issue at all.
00:45I think we all know what we want to do.
00:47It is very clear direction from ownership how we want to do it.
00:51We will discover now with the new members of the boards as well,
00:54how can they make us better and what ideas that they are bringing as well.
00:58We are very open to that.
01:00It is a big opportunity as well for us to evolve.
01:03So let's take the opportunity.
01:05And with Tim gone, do you now have more of a direct communication with Stan and Josh?
01:10Or is it just business as usual?
01:12Or is there a change in how you now communicate with the owners?
01:15Well, I think they will dictate that.
01:17I think it's so in meaning it was this morning.
01:19So we'll have that conversation and they will guide us on how they want to operate
01:24and how they want things to run from now on.
01:27So that's it.
01:28Just lastly, on your career, it was quite a deep cut.
01:32Did he need stitches?
01:33I think so.
01:35I think he did stitches at the end, yeah.
01:37Have you trained today wearing one of the headbands again?
01:40Or is he actually OK?
01:41No headbands.
01:42Today he didn't have to head a ball, so no headbands.
01:46Isan?
01:47Hi, Miguel.
01:48When you first started signing on Madweke, there was a lot of reaction from the fan base
01:52as to whether it was the right signing or not.
01:54A lot of noise, obviously, recently, as we've seen, has been tremendous, very direct,
01:59and doesn't push for your club.
02:01In the past, when you signed the likes of Kai Havertz, Marino, Raya,
02:05at the time, criticism, and then they've obviously come good.
02:08What was it about Madweke in particular that you thought,
02:11this guy's actually going to be a real good sign despite the noise,
02:15and how did you kind of get that feeling about playing before they joined the club?
02:19Well, obviously, I watched him a lot.
02:21I played against him.
02:22I had a real sense of the feelings that I was getting when I was playing against him,
02:27and then just understanding the qualities that we have in and around the team,
02:32the connection that we can develop with the qualities that he would bring,
02:36and I was very convinced.
02:37I think we were all at the club very convinced that he could do that,
02:40but it's understandable.
02:42At the end, everybody has his own opinion about things.
02:44You have to respect that, and hopefully he keeps doing what he's doing
02:49because so far it's been really good.
02:51There's been reports in the past in terms of Tim Lewis
02:53as to the impact he's had on you in terms of impacts with contracts, etc.
02:57With Tim, what were the key things that you remember of him
03:01in terms of yourself and the impact he had
03:03and the positive things he did with you in particular?
03:07I think with some people, I think you sit down to talk about something,
03:12discuss it, and you click, and you talk the same language.
03:16It was a person that has a huge capacity to make decisions,
03:21to be very open to understand it, very analytical.
03:24His background is a lawyer, so super efficient, and once he understands it
03:30and has clarity on that, I think he's very good at delivering the message
03:34and making things happen.
03:36That's why I enjoy working with him.
03:38Just on your record against City, it's five games unbeaten against them.
03:43Do you think that your team now has a belief when you go out to play against them
03:49that you're not going to get a result?
03:51You know how to get a result against them?
03:53Yes, obviously winning those matches creates that conviction
03:57that you can go and win the game and not against them,
04:00against any opposition.
04:01That's the feeling that I have now with the team and the players individually
04:05that we go to Sunday and we are there to win the game.
04:08That's it.
04:09Just wondering about your record of the Champions League games last season.
04:13It was quite mixed.
04:14There was quite a lot of draws of you playing in the Champions League midweek.
04:18Is that something you're looking to address this year,
04:20obviously with a much bigger sport now?
04:22Yeah, and especially at home as well.
04:24That's something we want to improve.
04:26We talk about our home records and how important it's going to be
04:29to give the best possible chance to ourselves
04:31to be where we want to be at the end of the season.
04:33So every time we play at home, we know what we have to do.
04:36But specifically after a Champions League game,
04:39even if you're home or away,
04:41just backing up with a second game every three days is quite different.
04:45Yeah, and then the next one, and then the next one.
04:47So we will try to do better.
04:49You talked about Scotland, Ireland,
04:54and obviously Gabriel as a senior defender, senior centre-back.
04:58How pleased have you been with the physical aspect of his performance
05:02against him?
05:03Probably the biggest man, literally.
05:10Well, he's got many qualities.
05:13One of them is that he can get up to anybody in the world
05:16and he's someone that really enjoys, you know.
05:19The defensive part, the contact, the physicality.
05:22And when the game has to get to that part, he enjoys it.
05:26And that's a big quality to have.
05:28And it's very needed with someone, Ireland as well,
05:31that is so physical.
05:32You need to have those qualities to be efficient.
05:35It's the sort of thing that fans love as well.
05:36It's the sort of thing that fans love as well.
05:37It seems to be having a go.
05:40It's a bit like Kion, Van Nistelrooy rivalry a few years ago.
05:46I don't know.
05:47I think it's efficiency the words that you want to use with defenders.
05:51And in relation to the quality of your opponent,
05:53how you're going to adapt your qualities to resolve a lot of situations.
05:57If you don't have to have any contact and it's not needed,
06:00even better.
06:01But Gabi has both, I think.
06:03Just lastly, back to the boardroom.
06:06Obviously, we're in the age of head coaches.
06:09Just do the team.
06:11That's not your role.
06:12How much time do you spend with the back to the boardroom?
06:19Well, I think in a club like the size of this one,
06:23with the amount of things and people that we have,
06:26one thing is coaching a team or talking to individuals.
06:30And then it's managing a lot of things that are constantly
06:33surrounding the football club.
06:35And especially since I arrived, a lot of things happened here.
06:37A lot of things have to be transformed.
06:40So, as I said always, that's the reason why we do it.
06:43Because so many good people were involved in those processes
06:46to help the team to move forward quickly.
06:49And, yeah, I have a part on that for sure.
06:52Okay.
06:53Thanks very much.
06:54Yeah.
06:55Thank you, guys.
06:58Good luck.
06:59This is Sunday.
07:00Yes.
