00:00Now, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a strong and historic relationship.
00:05Military ties between the two countries go back decades.
00:08Why is this deal so significant, in your opinion?
00:11I think it's the relationship that you're referring to,
00:15which goes back since the creation of Pakistan.
00:19And frankly, if you look at the roots of this relationship,
00:22they go back 1,400, 1,500 years.
00:24So the brotherhood that had historically, I think, has manifested itself in various ways.
00:32At every juncture when Pakistan has needed support,
00:36the kingdom has been by the Pakistani side.
00:40Whether it was economic development or defense-related matters or diplomacy,
00:47the kingdom was already there and always there.
00:50And same goes for Pakistan.
00:52If you walk down the streets of Pakistan,
00:55you would find out that even a common man would say
00:58that we are going to be there by the side of our Saudi brethren
01:04if the two holy mosques are ever attacked.
01:07And it needed no treaty.
01:09Every Pakistani would tell you the same.
01:12So I think what was implicit before and unstated has taken the form of a treaty.
01:18And that's the most significant part of this treaty,
01:22that it's now kind of a relationship which is documented.
01:27But this relationship has been there forever.
