00:01I'm Dr. Martine Behrens and I work at the University of Warwick and I'm a statistician.
00:06I recently took a powerlifting and I'm as surprised as anyone to be standing here with this little one.
00:12What happened was I have a good friend at work who is a PT and we went to the gym for the first time together,
00:19just before Christmas and she taught me how to deadlift.
00:22She told me that actually picking up 60 kilograms on your first attempt is really quite good,
00:27but I didn't really believe her.
00:29Two weeks later when we were in the gym together, we managed 100 kilograms on the deadlift
00:33and she said, really, you are particularly strong and you should compete.
00:37And so I did. Long story short, we both competed in the real qualifiers for the ABPU.
00:42We both came away with medals for our division and now I have been invited to the single lift championships
00:49to represent Great Britain at the European Championships in Finland
00:53and also to the British Championships for where athletes are picked to go to the world.
00:58I'm very surprised, but it's a great journey.
01:00I'm very surprised, but it's a great journey.
01:02Yeah.
01:03I'm very surprised.
01:05We got a great journey.
01:07You can do this for the first time at the European Championships.
01:10We are very surprised.
01:12I know this is that the first time you've got to go home.
