00:07This might seem like an unusual task, but the Chatham County Police Department told Fox News Digital in a statement that
00:12there have been several instances in the last few years where officers have encountered an alligator and returned it to the wild.
00:18You want to pet it, you can pet it!
00:22But the animals don't tend to pose a big threat.
00:25According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the state has only seen nine reported gator attacks on humans from 1980 to 2023, and only one was fatal.
00:34After capturing this gator, the officers released it into the wild.
