00:00This is such a broad attack on the First Amendment.
00:04In the 1920s, it was an attack on socialists and communists.
00:09There were a lot of people who were not socialists and communists
00:11that were attacked on being suspected of being socialists and communists.
00:16Under President Nixon, there was an attack on certain perceived enemies of his administration.
00:23But the current administration is using more different tools
00:29and is trying to punish more different kinds of speech
00:33and is, frankly, trying to punish speech that isn't terribly radical.
00:40Some of the people they've gone after have simply been people
00:43who have published accurate quotes from Mr. Kirk.
00:46Mr. Kirk was a very provocative figure and got a lot of attention by being provocative.
00:52There's no legal basis for pulling the broadcast license of a network
00:58because you don't agree with what its people said.
01:01If that were true, the Obama administration would have shut down Fox News
01:05or the Biden administration.
01:07But everyone knows there's no legal basis for that.
01:10It would have been quickly challenged in court and quickly overturned.
01:14This administration doesn't seem to have any fixed ends.
01:18It seems to be trying to go forward as fast as it can
01:22and as far as it can.
01:24So I think we can expect the First Amendment
01:27to come under steadily increasing fire as we go forward.
