00:00The body of a Sabah electricity employee who was swept away by strong river currents while
00:07carrying out power connection works in Kenningau has been found.
00:11The victim, Maside Rosmin, 35, was discovered by volunteers near the Liao-Laut area at about
00:186.18pm on Thursday.
00:20Maside was among three personnel who were washed away by river currents when they tried
00:25to cross a flooded bridge in their company vehicle on Tuesday night.
00:29Two of his colleagues, Irel Sonsai, 24, and Ziktor Banati, 38, managed to save themselves
00:36during the 9pm incident.
00:38Maside was last spotted around 1.15am in Sungai Kepayan before being pulled under again by
00:45strong currents.
00:46The search later narrowed to the Liao-Laut river after a shoe believed to belong to him was
00:51recovered.
00:53According to Kenningau Fire Station Chief Severinus Mohamed Nizam Sankuy, drones were deployed
00:58while villagers, under a team known as Team Garland Star, braved the dangerous waters
01:03to assist in the search.
01:05Maside's body was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.
01:09On Wednesday, Sabah Electricity CEO Datuk Mohamed Yaqob Jaffa was visibly emotional when
01:16providing live updates on the ongoing restoration works, which were finally completed after four
01:21days of battling rain, floods and landslides.
