A construction worker operating heavy machinery near a factory in Kinarut, Sabah, unearthed an old bomb, believed to date back to World War II, on Tuesday (Feb 25).

00:00A construction worker operating heavy machinery near a factory in Kinarut discovered an old
00:06bomb, believed to be from World War II, on Tuesday.
00:11Papa Police Chief Superintendent Kamarudin Ambosaka confirmed that a 42-year-old man
00:16reported the discovery at the Kinarut Police Station at 1.30 p.m. the same day.
00:23Investigating officers, along with the Bomb Disposal Unit from the Papa Police Headquarters
00:28and the Sabah Contingent Headquarters, inspected the site and determined that the bomb was
00:33still active.
00:34For safety reasons, police returned at 8 a.m. on Wednesday to carry out a controlled detonation.
00:43Several roads were closed, and the Sabah State Railways Department was notified to halt operations.
00:50Local residents were also warned to stay away from the area.
00:54Relevant agencies, including the Environment Department, Aviation Department, Sabah Electricity,
01:00and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, were informed.
01:04The bomb was successfully detonated at around 2.30 p.m.
