A US woman, Rupinder Kaur Pandher, 67, who travelled from Seattle to Ludhiana to marry UK-based NRI Charanjit Singh Grewal, was brutally murdered in July.

00:09Charanjit Singh Garewal, originally from Luthiana. But instead of a wedding, she met a brutal end.
00:15Her sister raised an alarm after Rupinder's phone went dead on July 24.
00:19Four days later, her sister informed the US Embassy in Delhi,
00:22following which the local police in Luthiana began its probe.
00:25On September 16, Rupinder's remains and damaged iPhone were found in a drain in Luthiana.
00:30Police say it was all for money.
00:32Rupinder had already transferred substantial sums of money to Garewal.
00:36Garewal allegedly asked his associate Sukjit Singh Sonu to kill Rupinder after Rupinder pressured
00:42him to marry. Garewal then promised Sonu 50 lakh rupees to execute the crime.
00:46Police said Sonu later confessed to bludgeoning Rupinder with a baseball bat,
00:50burning her body, stuffing it into four sacks and dumping it.
00:54Sonu, who was well-known to Rupinder, then filed a missing complaint,
00:57claiming he could not trace the woman he had allegedly conspired to murder.
01:01Sonu is under arrest, but the prime accused Garewal, who lives in the UK, is still absconding.
