00:10At 4.30pm, the Pakistan team was supposed to leave their hotel. They didn't.
00:14The UAE team had arrived on time but were left waiting, unsure if they'd even have an opponent at the match.
00:19But why was Pakistan even threatening to skip the match?
00:22This was the fallout of the now infamous Handshake Rao.
00:25During the India-Pakistan clash, Indian captain Surya Kumar Yadav refused to shake hands with his Pakistani counterpart before the toss.
00:31And after India's victory, the entire Indian team skipped handshakes as a mark of protest against the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
00:38Calling it a preach of respect, the Pakistan Cricket Board wrote to the ICC demanding match referee Andy Pycroft be removed from the tournament,
00:46accusing him of failing to maintain sportsmanship between the teams.
00:49The ICC refused.
00:51Adding to the drama, match referee Andy Pycroft, the man Pakistan wanted removed, was spotted leaving the stadium and heading to ICC headquarters nearby.
00:58At 5.45pm, Nafi finally instructed the team to leave for the stadium but weekday traffic meant the toss was still in doubt.
01:06Captain Salman Agha, coach Mike Hessen and manager Naaved Akram Chima held a close-toed meeting with Pycroft.
01:12Minutes before the toss, PCB released a statement claiming Pycroft had apologised for miscommunication.
01:17There's no official response from the ICC yet.
01:20And previously, the ICC made it clear that Pycroft was found not guilty in the entire incident.
01:25Andy Pycroft, especially if there's any international match, he's a favourite.
01:30After an hour's delay, at 9pm, play finally began but the day's drama nearly overshadowed the cricket.
