00:00Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeo on Thursday hit out at the Paralympic Council of Malaysia
00:08over the reward that was supposed to be given to two-time Paralympic badminton champion Chia Lee Ko and other medal winners.
00:16Yeo said it was not right to treat Chia, who had raised Malaysia's profile in the world,
00:21in response to the council's plan to send a show-cause letter against Chia over his outburst.
00:26She said Chia is a hard-working athlete who wins medals for Malaysia and did not cross any disciplinary lines,
00:34as he is merely asking for what he was promised.
00:37She reiterated that it is not a disciplinary issue, but it is caused by the delay on the part of the council.
00:43She said Chia comes under the Badminton Association of Malaysia and is funded by the National Sports Council
00:50and therefore the Paralympic Council of Malaysia has no rights to make any decisions on its own.
00:55Chia has criticized the council for not delivering on its promise of rewarding him and others 60,000 ringgit
01:02for winning medals at the Paris Olympic Games after one year.

01:12that the total amount they received from sponsors for all the medal winners was only 55,000 ringgit.
01:18He said Chia and powerlifter Bonnie Banyogustin, who both won gold in Paris, will be given 25,000 ringgit each
01:27by sponsors Zero Healthcare and Be Grim Power.
01:31He said the delay was due to Be Grim Power wanting to present the check in person to the athletes.

01:41which they said could result in him not be able to compete in major games.
