Microsoft To Invest $30B In U.K. AI By 2028, As Nvidia, Google, OpenAI, Salesforce Add $40B More

Microsoft said Tuesday it will invest $30 billion in the U.K. by 2028 to expand its AI infrastructure, according to CNBC. Microsoft said the investment includes $15.5 billion for capital expansion and $15.1 billion for its U.K. operations. The funding will support building the U.K.’s largest supercomputer with over 23,000 GPUs in partnership with British cloud firm Nscale. The move comes as Nvidia, Google, OpenAI, and Salesforce unveiled additional U.K. commitments, pushing combined AI investments past $40 billion. The announcements coincide with President Donald Trump’s state visit to Britain, where he and Prime Minister Keir Starmer are set to sign a new deal on Wednesday to boost collaboration in AI, Quantum, and Nuclear technologies.
