00:00Good afternoon. My name is Phil Hewitt, group answer at Sussex Newspapers. Lovely to speak
00:07to Benny Hayfield this morning. It's a big moment for your band, Safe On, a band created at the
00:13University of Chichester, where three quarters of the band still are studying. You've got your
00:17debut album coming out at the end of November, hugely significant moment, and you must feel very,
00:23very proud of the achievement. And it's a band called, sorry, an album called New Man,
00:29explain that significance. Yeah, so a lot of the songs on the album just kind of revolve around
00:36the concept of changing as a person, because when we came to uni in Chichester, we all kind of became
00:42different people, and that's what we wanted to get across in these songs. You know, a lot of the songs
00:46are about taking who you're meant to be and replacing it with who you want to be or who you're
00:50supposed to be. And yeah, that's what the album is about in general, but we explore in a number of
00:56different ways. And the album, sorry, the band originally came about because you had to create
01:01an ensemble for your course. Yeah, so at the course we were on, the music course, one of the
01:09modules is an ensemble module. And so a few of us got together thinking it would be cool if we could
01:15start a band. And then we realised we could actually just do this outside of uni as well.
01:22And yeah, it kind of just went from there. And you've done an EP. You must feel that momentum
01:28is growing for the band then. Yeah, definitely. It felt like a big task getting four songs together
01:36to record an EP. And then this album is 10 songs, and it is a big jump. But I love that. I love just
01:44feeling like I'm progressing in any way. And I think we all feel like we are. I think it's moving
01:49along nicely. And obviously, the first album is crucial. But you're pleased to say that it really
01:55does represent the band. I think so. Yeah, I'm very proud of it. I think it's a I think it's a
02:02good album. And for me, it's a case of if I would listen to it, if I make something and I would listen
02:07to it, then I think it's good. And I would with this. So I'm very proud of it. And I think it's
02:12a good recommendation, isn't it? Well, Benny, really happy to meet you and to speak to you.
02:17Thank you very much. And you. Hope it goes brilliantly. Thank you. Thank you.
