In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to create a Text Only Validation rule in Microsoft Excel. Data validation helps control what type of data can be entered in a cell, and with text-only rules, you can prevent users from entering numbers, dates, or other invalid inputs.
00:00In order to do text-only validation in this cell, you need to select it like this, then go to data, and then go around over here onto data validation, and under allow, you need to go ahead and click on custom, and in formula, type in equals, and then type in is text right here just like this, and then go ahead and open up bracket, type in the cell reference right here, in my case it's A1, and then I'm going to go ahead and press OK.
00:30Once I do that right here, then if I were to enter number, it won't accept it, but if I were to go ahead and add in my name, let's say for example, it'll accept it.
00:39You can simply click and drag it right here to copy the validation through right here just like this as well.
