00:00Alas Filipinas men's national team made history after defeating Egypt in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships yesterday in Pasay City.
00:10Relive the action in this report by Justin Ileano.
00:15For only the second time, Alas Filipinas returned to the World Championships, taking on Egypt at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
00:25Right from the opening set, the Filipinos wasted no time securing the advantage with a close 29-27 win to kick off their campaign.
00:34Egypt struck back in the second set, 23-25.
00:38But the powerful hits from Brian Bagunas, Mark Espejo, and Leo Ordeales kept the home crowd fired up.
00:46Sobrang speechless na nanalo kami on this game.
01:15We just win today.
01:18I don't know what will happen in two days.
01:21We are not every time stable like we were today.
01:25So you have to understand.
01:27Because now we beat Egypt and we are the best team in the world.
01:31Now.
01:31We are the same team that before, that sometimes play very good, that sometimes not very good.
01:38We have to get stable on this level to try to compete.
01:44Sobrang saya kasi, syempre, kahit first time natin sumali sa Men's World Championship,
02:09With the crowd erupting inside the arena,
02:12Alas Pilipinas sealed the match with back-to-back 25-21 wins in the third and fourth sets.
02:19The historic victory marked the country's first ever win in the Volleyball World Championships,
02:24standing world number 21, Egypt.
02:27Bagunas, also known as Bazooka, led the way with 25 points,
02:31while the rising star opposite Spiker Ordeales contributed 21 points in the landmark win.
02:37Up next, Team Philippines will face 14th-ranked Iran tomorrow, September 18, 5.30pm at the Mall of Asia Arena.
03:09Ito yung start namin. Syempre, confidence talaga yung gumuhay sa amin.
03:14Ayun yung wala kami ng first game.
03:16So ngayon, sana magtuloy-tuloy pataas ang palaas.
