00:00We begin with a decree that forbids marriages after the death of Crown Princess Ha-jian.

00:06No one can marry until Crown Prince Lee-jian finds a new wife, which angers the people.

00:12Yo-serang is a cunning con artist who takes advantage of the band to arrange secret marriages

00:17and help couples stay in touch, all while evading the royal guards.

00:22Meanwhile, Lee-jian, now king, remains deeply affected by the death of his wife.

00:27Serang opens a shop in the capital to continue her business

00:30and learns of rumors about the ghost of the Crown Princess in the palace.

00:35In an attempt to lift the ban, the court pressures the king, who finally promises to marry within a year.

00:41In a flashback, we see how the king is tormented by his wife's death, believing she was murdered.

00:47On the other hand, Serang's business arouses suspicion among the guards and the king chases her.

00:52Upon being arrested, she pretends to be possessed by the spirit of the Crown Princess,

00:58which convinces the king that she has a divine vision.

01:01Here, Serang manipulates his vulnerability, but her deceptions become complicated and she is imprisoned again.

01:09Later, the king confesses to his minister, Kim Solrock, that he fears marrying again

01:14because each queen candidate has been found dead under the same circumstances as his wife.

01:19The minister suggests that Sorong stay close to the king to calm the supposed spirit of the princess,

01:26while the confused king sees her as his late wife, leaving him doubting his own sanity.

01:32King Lee-yeon is confused by his grief and embraces Serang, thinking she is his late wife, Crown Princess Ha-yeon.

01:40Upon realizing it, he feels embarrassed and withdraws,

01:42while Serang cannot forget this embrace and Captain Xinyan appears upset.

01:48Xinyan then tells Serang that she must become a court lady so that the princess's ghost will speak to the king.

01:54Frightened, Serang seeks the help of her adoptive father, Yang Ji.

01:59On her way to the palace, she hides from Lady So, a powerful woman,

02:03which puts her uncomfortably close to Xinyan.

02:05Then, a flashback reveals that Lady So had planned to kill her stepdaughter, Yon-sun, actually Serang,

02:13so that her biological daughter could marry before the ban.

02:17Serang survived and went into hiding under a new identity.

02:21This is how Serang survived and went into hiding under a new identity.

02:25In the palace, Serang pretends that the princess speaks to her

02:28and convinces the king to let her dine with him.

02:31She also tries to earn the trust of Xinyan, who was in love with her in the past.

02:49Let's continue.

02:51Then we see how the king is determined to find the princess's killer,

02:54while Serang tells him stories to help him sleep.

02:57However, Lady So and the military minister begin to suspect her,

03:01thus increasing the tension for Serang.

03:04Then Serang says goodbye to the king for two days,

03:07and although he seems indifferent, he watches her as she leaves,

03:10something only Xinyan notices.

03:13Serang feels guilty for hiding from Xinyan, that she is his long-lost fiancée.

03:18That night she has a nightmare about the attempted assassination of Lady So,

03:22in which she was thrown off a cliff.

03:23Upon waking, she sees Xinyan standing guard,

03:26and they share a moment before Serang walks away to prevent him from discovering her identity.

03:32Minister Sorok, for his part, investigates the princess's killer,

03:35finding another body similar to the princess's.

03:38He suggests that the king go hunting to show his strength and deceive the killer.

03:42The king, remembering that his wife was against hunting, is reluctant but agrees.

03:47Meanwhile, Lady So plans to control which women will be candidates to be the new queen,

03:52and her past as a gizang comes to light.

03:55During the hunt,

03:56Siorang and the king accidentally fall into the water.

03:59Xinyan rescues her, which makes the king jealous.

04:02However, later,

04:04Siorang takes care of the king and praises him,

04:06making him feel better.

04:08Then the king, half asleep,

04:10kisses Siorang thinking she is his wife.

04:12The hunt becomes complicated later,

04:14when the wild boar is released and attacks Siorang, who faints.

04:18Both the king and Xinyan kill it together.

04:20The king, worried about Siorang,

04:22takes care of her when she falls ill,

04:24and she asks him why he kissed her,

04:26which ends in another kiss while Xinyan watches jealously.

04:30For his part,

04:31the military minister shows his power when his men detain the doctor treating Siorang.

04:35Meanwhile,

04:36Xinyan interrupts the kiss between the king and Siorang,

04:39visibly upset.

04:40He accompanies Siorang,

04:42and the confused king doesn't know whether to feel relieved or disappointed

04:45that she doesn't remember the kiss.

04:48Here,

04:48Siorang tries to get the king to relax with drinking games,

04:51but the situation becomes uncomfortable

04:53when the king asks about her relationship with Xinyan.

04:56On the other hand,

04:57Minister Sulrak discovers that the captain of the royal guard

05:00is allied with the military minister,

05:02and informs the king,

05:03who is not convinced.

05:05Meanwhile,

05:06Siorang finds erotic books that she believes could help lift the marriage ban,

05:10but this angers the king,

05:11who remembers his late wife.

05:13Both the king and Xinyan end up curious,

05:16and read the books.

05:17During the training session,

05:19Xinyan faces his feelings for Siorang,

05:21and feels attracted to her.

05:22But the king interrupts them,

05:24and,

05:24annoyed,

05:25sends Seorang to her quarters.

05:27Meanwhile,

05:28Lady Seo plots to get rid of Seorang,

05:30who has been identified as her stepdaughter,

05:33Hyunseun,

05:34whom she had tried to kill in the past.

05:37Here,

05:37the king begins to admit that he already has feelings for Seorang,

05:41but holds himself back.

05:43The royal staff organizes a conjugal night between them,

05:47but just as Seorang is ready to enter the king's chamber,

05:51Xinyan rescues her,

05:52and they escape together.

05:54After taking Seorang away from the king,

05:56Xinyan reveals to her that they were preparing a conjugal night between her and the monarch.

06:02Seorang does not believe him,

06:03but Xinyan hugs her just as the king catches them.

06:07Furious,

06:08the king challenges Xinyan to a duel,

06:11saying that if Xinyan wins,

06:13he can take Seorang.

06:14Although Xinyan hesitates to fight,

06:17the king draws his sword,

06:18ready to battle.

06:20Seorang intervenes,

06:21and tells the king the truth about the conjugal night,

06:24which angers him even more.

06:26The king withdraws to his room,

06:28asking to be left alone.

06:30Later,

06:31Seorang confronts the king,

06:33asking why he fought with Xinyan,

06:35and if he feels something for her.

06:37The king denies it,

06:38saying that all the women in the palace are his,

06:41but Seorang does not believe him.

06:44Then,

06:45Seorang faces Xinyan,

06:46who asks her if she truly does not realize his feelings for her.

06:50Seorang breaks his heart,

06:52saying she only sees him as a friend.

06:55Meanwhile,

06:56Lady Seo secretly takes the Grand Queen Dowager

06:59to a training school for future brides,

07:01where Hyunhee pretends to be her sister,

07:03Hyunseo,

07:04and manages to catch the Queen Dowager's attention.

07:07At the same time,

07:09some palace maids believe they have seen the ghost

07:11of the late crown princess,

07:13causing fear and confusion.

07:15Elsewhere,

07:16a romance begins to blossom between Chunesok and Hayeon,

07:20which makes painter Jong jealous,

07:22as he has been writing romantic stories

07:24for Hayeon.

07:25However,

07:26Chunesok claims her as his,

07:28and they end up arguing.

07:31The king,

07:31for his part,

07:32summons Xinyan,

07:33and confesses that,

07:35although he wanted to punish him,

07:37he cannot do so.

07:38He asks him to protect Seorang,

07:40but reminds him that he must not have feelings for her.

07:44Xinyan also mentions the late crown princess,

07:47which makes the king feel guilty

07:49for having forgotten his original purpose in court.

07:52That night,

07:53the king dreams again of the crown princess,

07:56who tells him she never truly loved him,

07:58leaving him unsettled.

08:00Upon waking,

08:02he sees Seorang sitting beside him,

08:04upset.

08:05The king asks her to once again allow herself

08:08to be possessed by the princess,

08:10but Seorang frustrated,

08:12ends up saying that the princess never loved him,

08:14but was only loyal.

08:16The next day,

08:17the king is devastated by the idea

08:19that the crown princess never loved him.

08:22Seorang tries to console him,

08:24but he only remembers the princess's words

08:26about loyalty.

08:28Thus,

08:28they decide to visit the princess's personal maid

08:31in search of answers.

08:32But she doesn't provide much,

08:34only revealing that the king

08:36never spent intimate time with the princess,

08:39which sparked rumors of homosexuality

08:41due to his closeness with Xin Wan.

08:44Then,

08:44Xin Wan discovers that Seorang paid the women

08:47to say those things,

08:49and although he is initially angry,

08:51he decides not to tell the king.

08:53In exchange,

08:54he asks Seorang not to fall in love with the monarch.

08:58Elsewhere,

08:59He Jiyeon arrives with rumors

09:01about the ghost of the crown princess,

09:03which worries everyone.

09:05Seorang and Xin Wan suspect

09:07that someone is pretending to be the ghost

09:09to torment the king.

09:11They visit a seamstress

09:12to investigate the royal bride's dress

09:15that belonged to the crown princess,

09:17and then go to Lord Ah,

09:19the princess's father,

09:20who insists that he saw his daughter.

09:23To be sure,

09:24they ask to check

09:25if the wedding dress is still in its place.

09:28Meanwhile,

09:29the captain of the royal guard

09:30and the military minister

09:31plot a plan to kill Seorang

09:33in the same way as the crown princess,

09:36intending to destroy any possibility

09:38that the king will love again.

09:41That same night,

09:42the king hears a strange noise in the palace

09:44and goes out to investigate.

09:47Xin Wan and Seorang

09:48also hear it

09:49and run toward the place.

09:51Both the king and the others

09:52see the crown princess,

09:54but when the king approaches her,

09:56she disappears into the lake.

09:57The king tries to dive into the water

10:00to follow her,

10:01but Seorang hugs him from behind

10:03and begs him not to do it,

10:05saving him from making a desperate decision.

10:08After preventing the king from drowning,

10:11while still following the crown princess's appearance,

10:14she reveals that she is not his wife

10:16and introduces the royal seamstress,

10:18who confirms that the wedding dress

10:20in Lord Ah's possession

10:21is not genuine.

10:24Seorang and Xin Wan

10:25discovered that the imposter,

10:27a gisang named Chan Yan,

10:29has been murdered.

10:30It is also revealed

10:31that seven women close to the king

10:33have been murdered in a similar manner.

10:35Seorang refuses to flee the palace,

10:37choosing instead to stay by the king's side.

10:40Meanwhile,

10:40Heijong is kidnapped

10:41during the pursuit of the culprits,

10:43and Seorang is also captured.

10:45The king and Xin Wan,

10:46elsewhere,

10:47join forces to rescue her.

10:49Although they manage to save the kidnapped girls,

10:51Seorang remains missing.

10:52One of the girls tells them

10:54that Seorang and Heijong

10:55were taken by slavers.

10:57Chunsuk finds stones

10:58that Heijong left as clues,

11:00leading them to discover

11:01that the women are being sold as wives.

11:04Heijong is found hiding,

11:05and just when Heewon threatens to kill them,

11:07the king and Xin Wan save them.

11:09Meanwhile,

11:10Seorang is taken before Jo and Lady So,

11:12who plan to kill her

11:13to provoke the king's abdication.

11:16Jo restrains Seorang,

11:17and orders the queen killer,

11:18Na Sanju,

11:19to take care of her.

11:20At the same time,

11:22the king investigates Jo's men

11:23and discovers their secret headquarters.

11:26Seorang,

11:26who has been kidnapped by bandits

11:28in a secret village,

11:29pretends to be possessed

11:30by the dead sister of the leader,

11:32Ran Tan,

11:32to earn his trust.

11:34The king and Xin Wan

11:35finally arrive at the village

11:36and are tied up by the bandits,

11:38but Seorang saves them

11:40with her cleverness.

11:41When Soon-Ju arrives to attack,

11:43the bandits and royal soldiers

11:44defeat his men,

11:45although he manages to escape.

11:47The king forgives the village

11:48and promises to lift the manage ban.

11:51Back at the palace,

11:52the king discovers

11:52that the petitions regarding

11:54the kidnappings

11:54were blocked by Jo

11:56and decides to transfer the case

11:57to the Department of Justice.

11:59Meanwhile,

12:00the king begins to realize

12:01his feelings for Seorang,

12:02especially when she thanks him

12:03for rescuing her,

12:05which leads to another unexpected kiss.

12:07Seorang stops the kiss with the king

12:09and asks him if his feelings are real

12:11or if he still confuses her

12:12with the late crown princess.

12:14Faced with the king's doubt,

12:16Seorang leaves,

12:17saying she doesn't want him

12:18if he isn't sincere.

12:20Seorang recalls a conversation

12:40invites her to dinner

12:42and they spend the night together,

12:43though he reflects

16:04Later,

16:04a nobleman named

16:05Master Sun Ki

16:06and his daughter

16:08Hua Zheng

16:08rescue them,

16:10surprising Xin Wan

16:11as his injured arm

16:12begins to heal.

16:14In the palace,

16:15meanwhile,

16:16the king is devastated

16:17and drinks excessively

16:19while the ministers,

16:20including Silorok

16:22and the Grand Queen Mother,

16:23suspect Lady Seo.

16:26For her part,

16:27Seorang is believed

16:28to be dead.

16:30She stays with Hua Zhang

16:31for safety

16:32while reflecting

16:33on her relationship

16:34with the king.

16:36Meanwhile,

16:37in the city,

16:38pressure to lift

16:38the marriage ban

16:39increases due to protests

16:41which worries

16:42the ministers.

16:44Later,

16:45Xin Wan reveals

16:46to the king

16:46that he and Seorang

16:47are alive,

16:49which relieves

16:49the monarch.

16:51Then,

16:51Hua Zhang confesses

16:53that she has been selected

16:54for the queen selection process,

16:56but she is insecure

16:57due to a scar.

16:59Seorang realizes

17:00that Lady Seo

17:02is behind the disappearances

17:03of other candidates

17:04in order to favor

17:05Hyun Yeni.

17:07The selection process begins,

17:09but is plagued

17:10with manipulations.

17:12Hua Zhang is deceived,

17:14and her embroidery

17:15is replaced

17:15by Hyun Yenese.

17:17While the king

17:18investigates corruption

17:19in the palace,

17:20he discovers

17:21bribes related

17:22to white jade pins

17:24and realizes

17:25that Lady Seo

17:26and her allies

17:27are behind all of this.

17:29Then,

17:30the king is taking

17:31Seorang back

17:32to the palace,

17:33and to her surprise,

17:35instead of punishing her,

17:36he kisses her passionately.

17:38The king is running

17:39towards Seorang

17:40and kissing her.

17:42In a flashback,

17:43we see that,

17:44although she thought

17:45he had forgotten,

17:46he only had eyes

17:47for her

17:47throughout the entire

17:49bride selection process.

17:51She cries

17:52and apologizes.

17:53He reveals to her

17:54that he knew

17:55she was sincere

17:56despite her lies,

17:57and all he wanted

17:58was for her

17:59to be alive.

18:01Meanwhile,

18:02Xin Wen conspires

18:03with Hua Zhang

18:04and her father

18:05to catch the kidnappers.

18:07She goes as far

18:08as to offer herself

18:09as bait

18:09and is confident

18:10that Xin Wen

18:11will save her.

18:13He is nervous,

18:14but agrees.

18:15That night,

18:16her father puts on

18:17a show

18:18by leaving

18:18with all the servants,

18:19which the queen's

18:20assassin,

18:21Sang Yun,

18:22notices.

18:23He and his men

18:25enter and kidnap

18:26Hua Zhang,

18:26but it turns out

18:27to be Xin Wen

18:28disguised as her.

18:30He and his guards

18:31easily defeat

18:32the kidnappers,

18:33arrest them,

18:34and ask Sil Rock

18:35to bring him

18:36the painting

18:37of the man

18:37who supposedly

18:38killed the queen,

18:39and he sees

18:40that it is Sang Yun.

18:42The next day,

18:43Lady Seo

18:44and Hyun Hee

18:45strut around

18:46as if she had

18:47already been named

18:48queen.

18:49They wonder

18:50about Hua Zhang's

18:51kidnapping

18:52and Seo tells her

18:53she has a plan B.

18:55As they head to court,

18:57Hyun Hee confronts

18:59So Rong and Hua Zhang

19:00when they accuse her

19:01of being a cheat.

19:03The grand queen mother

19:04offers tea

19:05for the ladies

19:06and So Rong notices

19:07that Hyun Hee's cup

19:09is different

19:09from the rest.

19:11She warns Hua Zhang

19:12not to drink.

19:14Another girl

19:15who drinks the tea

19:16is poisoned.

19:18Hua Zhang pretends

19:19that her cup

19:20is replaced

19:21by Hyun Hee's

19:22who begins to panic.

19:24Hua Zhang tells

19:25the grand queen mother

19:26that it seems

19:27Hyun Hee knew

19:29about the poison

19:29and the matriarch

19:31becomes suspicious.

19:33Xin Wen,

19:34for his part,

19:35tells the king

19:36that Sang Yu

19:37is the queen's killer

19:38and he becomes angry.

19:40He asks Minister Cho

19:43to interrogate Sang Yu

19:44and the latter

19:45wonders why.

19:47During the selection,

19:48the grand queen mother

19:49chooses the top three

19:51provisional girls

19:52and Hyun Hee

19:53comes in first place

19:54but she also asks

19:56the girls

19:56to rate each other

19:57which changes the score

19:59and Hua Zhang

20:00ends up in first place.

20:03She also confirms

20:04that the tea

20:05was poisoned

20:05and asks the maids

20:07to extend their hands.

20:08Sorong,

20:10who had previously

20:11checked the tea

20:11for Hua Zhang's sake,

20:13develops boils.

20:14The grand queen mother

20:15does not believe

20:16her reasoning

20:17and arrests her.

20:19Then the king learns

20:20about Sorong's arrest

20:22and rushes to her.

20:23The guards warn him

20:25not to go against

20:26his grandmother's wishes

20:27and he becomes angry.

20:29He asks what happened

20:30and she tells him

20:32about her encounter

20:33with the grand queen mother.

20:35She had warned him

20:36about Hyun Hee

20:37and had told him

20:38that she knew

20:39the grand queen mother

20:40knew who the culprits were.

20:42The king wants

20:43to release Sorong

20:44but she tells him

20:46to trust her

20:46because she knows

20:48the widow will make

20:49the right decision.

20:50Minister Cho interrogates

20:52Sang-Yu

20:53who remains silent.

20:55The king tells Sang-Yu

20:56that if he really

20:57killed his wife

20:58then Minister Cho

20:59will have to kill him

21:01and his family.

21:02Sang-Yu reveals

21:03that although he was

21:05the mastermind

21:05behind all the kidnappings

21:07and even the crown prince's murder

21:09he was protecting

21:10those who ordered it.

21:12Minister Cho tries

21:13to calm the furious king

21:15but the latter looks at him

21:16and promises

21:17to find the real culprit.

21:19The next day

21:20Shin-Yu meets with Sorong

21:22and promises

21:23that he has been

21:23investigating the bribery.

21:25He assures her

21:26that he will release her

21:27and at that moment

21:28Court Lady Wan returns.

21:29Sorong hugs her

21:30and asks if she found

21:32her family.

21:33Wan remembers

21:33finding her husband

21:34who has now remarried

21:35her sister

21:36and is raising her son.

21:38Sorong wonders

21:38if her love

21:39will also end

21:40with her sister.

21:41Wan promises

21:41to help her

21:42take down Hyun-hee.

21:44Then Wan testifies

21:45that she never bribed

21:46the court ladies

21:46who call her a liar.

21:48She notices

21:49that a young court lady

21:50Sola

21:50is crying

21:51and asks her

21:52to tell the truth.

21:54Sola confesses

21:54that someone else

21:55bribed her.

21:56After having done her job

21:57Wan meets

21:58the chief eunuch

21:59Se-Yong

22:00and he is happy

22:00to see her

22:01and smiles.

22:02Sorong is released

22:03thanks to Wan's testimony

22:04and runs toward the king

22:05who was waiting for her

22:06in their love nest.

22:08Meanwhile

22:08Cho and Lady Seo

22:09are angry

22:10because Sang-Yu

22:11betrayed them.

22:12He also reveals

22:13that he was the one

22:13who planned the marriage ban

22:15and that now is the time

22:16to make Hyun-hee queen

22:17so they can cover

22:18their tracks.

22:19In Heidel-Dang

22:20the villagers

22:21ask Wan-ji

22:21who will move on

22:22to the final selection round.

22:24He guesses

22:24Hua-jung

22:25and Hyun-sen

22:26and they don't believe him.

22:27He promotes

22:28the matchmaking business

22:29in Heidel-Dang

22:30for when the marriage ban

22:31is lifted

22:31and they get excited.

22:33Heijong Worm

22:33is about Sorong

22:34and Hwan-ji

22:35tells them

22:36to let her live

22:36her destiny.

22:38Meanwhile

22:38the protesters

22:39made up of the fools

22:40the painter John

22:41and his readers

22:42wonder how they can ensure

22:43that the selection

22:44is a success

22:45and that the marriage ban

22:46is lifted.

22:47They decide that

22:48all the readers

22:48will protest at the palace

22:49during the final round.

22:51In prison

22:52Cho's guard

22:52goes to kill Sang-yu

22:54and sees that

22:55he's disappeared.

22:56He tells Cho

22:57while someone suspicious

22:59Se-young tells the king

23:00that he has a witness

23:01who saw Sorong.

23:02The next day

23:03the readers

23:03as planned

23:04protest in the street

23:05to lift the marriage ban.

23:07Heijong and Hwan-ji

23:07get curious

23:08and join them.

23:09Lady Seo laughs

23:10at the commotion

23:11as she heads

23:11to meet the Grand Queen Dowager

23:12with her husband

23:13but the widow

23:14stops her

23:14to speak alone

23:15with the minister.

23:17The Grand Queen Dowager

23:18hints that she knows

23:19Lady Seo will meet

23:20with the selection committee

23:21behind her back.

23:23She asks him

23:32Hua-jung says

23:33that she has no reason

23:35and that she will not care

23:36if the woman named

23:37Hyun-sun

23:38becomes queen.

23:40Outside

23:41the protest grows louder

23:43and the Grand Queen Mother

23:44is excited

23:45to tell them the result.

23:47The king approaches her

23:48and tells her

23:49that he will join her

23:50even though

23:51he doesn't know

23:52who the winner is.

23:54He invites the protesters

24:01The Grand Queen Mother

24:11the Grand Queen Mother.

24:13Sir Rong meets

24:45to order her arrest.

24:47And in the midst

24:48of the chaos
