00:06coup against President Juan Domingo Perón. 70 years ago, on September 16, 1955, a faction
00:13of the armed forces rose up and overthrew Perón's government and put in place a de facto
00:19junta that banned for more than 20 years any mention of him, his Justicialist Party and
00:25his wife, Eva Duarte, whose body was abducted and remained missing for years.
00:31After the coup, Perón went into exile for 18 years to be re-elected as Argentina's president
00:37in October 1973.
00:41Peronism continues to be a political movement of global significance and is now the main
00:45alternative to the far-right, Javier Milley.
