My recent article in Small Wars Journal, “The Doctrine of Obedience: Iran’s Recruitment Architecture and the Illusion of Diplomacy,” examines how Iran’s power extends far beyond the nuclear file.
The analysis explores how Tehran fuses theology, politics, and militant training into a recruitment system that operates through classrooms, cultural centers, proxy militias, and cyber networks. This ideological infrastructure, not its atomic program alone, is what sustains Iran’s influence and fuels its global reach.
To expand on these insights, I recorded a short video where I discuss the key arguments: The central point is that any lasting agreement with Iran must go further than limiting nuclear capabilities. It must also dismantle the pipelines of ideological obedience that bind recruits to the regime under the guise of divine duty.
