00:00It's a somber day here at Delta State University. I want to talk to you about something heartbreaking
00:05that's hit our campus community, a tragedy that's left us all searching for answers.
00:10Early Monday morning, Demartravian Trey Reed, just 21 years old, was found on campus near
00:16the pickleball courts. Authorities responded quickly, and right now, they're saying there's
00:21no sign of foul play. Still, the investigation is thorough and ongoing, with multiple agencies
00:28working together to understand what happened. Campus safety officials have reassured everyone
00:33there's no current threat to students. But I know that doesn't make it any easier for
00:38those feeling shaken or overwhelmed. That's why Delta State canceled all classes and centennial
00:43events for the day, so we could take time to mourn and support each other. If you're struggling,
00:49please know you're not alone. The O.W. Riley Counseling Center is open and ready to help students.
00:55faculty and staff also have support through human resources. Vigils and memorials are
01:01being planned, giving us all a chance to come together, remember Trey, and lean on one another.
01:07This loss is heavy, but it's also a reminder, check in on your friends, reach out if you need
01:11help, and let's take care of each other. Our community is strong. Let's honor Trey by holding
01:17on to that unity and compassion. For updates and more stories from Delta State, subscribe and
01:23remember, support is always just a conversation away.
