A spectacular parade featuring two gentle elephants, Sanum and Chery, stole the spotlight during the Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations near Istana Balai Besar in Kota Baru on Tuesday (Sept 16).

00:12Sanum and Sherry from the National Elephant Conservation Centre in Kuala Ganda led a 1.2-kilometre procession near Istana Balai Besar.
00:22More than 500 visitors joined the march, many dressed in traditional attire, adding vibrant colours to the festive scene.
00:29Program Coordinator and Protocol Officer at the Office of the Sultan of Kelantan, Mohamed Safaruddin Ismail, said the elephants were chosen as a tribute to history when such majestic creatures played a key role in royal ceremonies.
00:44After the parade, the elephants were stationed on the palace grounds where the public enjoyed a rare chance to take photos and admire them up close.
00:53The event was held with support from the Department of Wildlife and National Parks and the Kelantan State Wildlife Department.
