00:00The long-awaited Hillsborough Bill, including the duty of candour, will be introduced into Parliament today.
00:07So what does this mean?
00:09It will force public officials to tell the truth in investigations into major disasters.
00:16The landmark Public Office Accountability Bill, which it's officially called,
00:21will mean that if public bodies or officials don't cooperate or tell the truth, they may face criminal sanctions.
00:28This news has been welcomed by campaigners who were worried that the bill would have been watered down.
00:36The Hillsborough disaster on the 15th of April 1989 led to 97 people dying.
00:43Key campaigner Margaret Aspinall, whose son James died aged 18 during the disaster,
00:50said she hopes the bill will mean no one else has to suffer like they did.
