00:00So if you're serious about growing an audience, gaining credibility, making money online, then Medium is such a great, great platform, okay?
00:11So I want to give you 10 good tips on using Medium, the blogging platform, okay?
00:18So why use Medium? Well, it's very popular. It gets around 100 million monthly views, which is pretty good.
00:24There's also a lot of other great choices out there, like LinkedIn. Substock's amazing.
00:30Quora, there's Reddit. Now, in all honesty, I've had some issues with Quora. They've gotten really strict recently.
00:36But Medium, it's really, really great. I love it.
00:39Maybe one reason why is because, knock on wood, there's not a lot of negativity and trolls on the platform like some places.
00:47So anyways, another great idea, well, I actually have a question for you.
00:52My question to you is this. Why not use all the platforms?
00:55Yeah. You know, like this blog right here on my site, I could take the same blog post and post it on Medium.
01:02I could take the same blog post, post it on LinkedIn.
01:06I could make a YouTube video, which is what I'm doing right now.
01:08So you can use all the platforms.
01:10If you do that, you just want to, at the end, write, hey, this post originally appeared on blank, stuff like that, okay?
01:17So just use them all. You never know, right?
01:21The cool thing about Medium, too, is you can embed your YouTube videos.
01:24So you can get views from both places, if that makes sense.
01:28So your Medium audience can be used to grow your YouTube channel as well.
01:32It's also linked with X, which is Twitter. It used to be Twitter.
01:36You can also put your other social media accounts into your Medium post.
01:41You can get a lot of views without spending any money, okay?
01:44All right.
01:45There's no cost of getting started.
01:47And another really cool benefit is you can put affiliate links directly in your Medium post.
01:52Now, if you do that, you just have to disclose it somewhere.
01:56Like, there might be an affiliate post somewhere, a link, and I may earn some cash at no extra cost to you.
02:02I usually do that at the end, you know.
02:04But you can do that.
02:05You can make money.
02:06All right.
02:06So the number one tip, really, is you want to focus on evergreen content, right?
02:10Evergreen.
02:11That was that ship that got stuck in the canal, you know?
02:14What that means, basically, is it's still valuable years in the future, okay?
02:20So by writing evergreen content, your articles can pull in traffic, you know, years from now.
02:28And the problem is, you know, so I'll give you an idea of how this works.
02:32So think tech fundamentals, not the latest gadgets that might be absolute next year.
02:39That makes sense.
02:40So you want to focus on more evergreen.
02:41All right.
02:42Number two, use attention-grabbing headlines.
02:45Yes, headlines are 50% of the ballot on all these social media platforms.
02:50They just do.
02:51Now, I learned from this class on TikTok training, and when in doubt, just use a number and a headline.
02:56It just works.
02:57You see this article?
02:58Look.
02:59Look.
02:59Ten proven strategies.
03:02You stick a number in there.
03:03It just works.
03:03Because people can see the tangible benefit of it, right?
03:07They work better than every other method out there.
03:10So when in doubt, stick a number.
03:11Other ideas could be as, like, negative words, like stop or without or, you know, without or no.
03:21So words like, you know, easy, simple, unique.
03:24You know, you want to use, bring life into the words.
03:26Keep it personal, what's in it for them, because people are selfish, like you.
03:31Use some FOMO, right?
03:33I wish I would have known about this, or, you know, you won't believe, blank.
03:37So a formula you could use is number plus adjective plus keyword and promise, like four unpopular tips for unlimited growth,
03:47something like that, okay?
03:48So as the saying goes, you want the title to intrigue, don't deceive, okay?
03:55Pique their interest, don't lie.
03:56All right.
03:57And now with medium, you can have a subheading.
03:59So a great tip is to treat the subheading like a little mini headline, like four to six words,
04:05just to pique their interest, to get them to continue, you know, something like that,
04:11which I need to do better and less myself.
04:14Okay.
04:16All right.
04:17But the most important part is just getting someone to read the first few sentences.
04:21And a great copywriting tip, I don't know where I got this from, but it's really good,
04:26is the purpose of the first sentence is to get someone to read the second sentence.
04:31The purpose of the second sentence is to get someone to read the next sentence.
04:36You got it.
04:37That's all you're trying to do, okay?
04:39And it's like a slippery slope.
04:41Once someone's read a few lines, they're more committed, okay?
04:47All right.
04:48You got to get that momentum going, right?
04:50All right.
04:51Another really cool tip, which I had not tried, which I'm definitely going to do,
04:54is these little three dots.
04:57I kind of just learned about this.
04:58But you can include, like, these three little dots in your article to break it up,
05:02and it looks really, really nice.
05:04And at the beginning, the kind of – what you don't want is, like, a big thing of text
05:09in 10 days.
05:10I'm like, oh, shit, that's a lot of work to read.
05:11I don't want it.
05:12Click, next, you know.
05:13You want it to be very easy, you know, ease into the article, right?
05:17Like a plane taking off.
05:18All right, next up, media.
05:22Media is great.
05:23I highly recommend with blogs, you stick as much media as possible in videos,
05:27giffies, memes, charts, naked cats, right?
05:33You get my idea, to keep it fun, to keep them interested, right?
05:37Like a spider web.
05:38They can't move.
05:39Like, oh, what the hell is that?
05:41They're about to click off.
05:42They see this little meme of the cat spin.
05:44Whoa, they go back.
05:45It's a naked cat.
05:46And they can't continue to read, right?
05:49So that's what you want.
05:50And obviously, even better, if you do two videos of your own, there, even better.
05:55And increases your watch time, increases all your numbers.
05:59Next up, have a call to action.
06:02Now, I'm a really big believer that in most content you stick online, you should have some type of call to action.
06:09And they could be anything like, hey, at the end, right?
06:13If you like this, just follow or subscribe.
06:16You know, leave a comment.
06:17You know, check out this free guide.
06:19You know, view a website.
06:20Boom.
06:21You know, something like that.
06:23I think it's appropriate at the end.
06:25Not at the beginning, because that's like pandering, you know?
06:31Anyways.
06:31Now, also, you could even include more than one call to action if it's helpful and it's appropriate, right?
06:38Like in this Medium post here, I talked about a very good call to action is a landing page, right?
06:43And I have a free guide, so I'm like, well, here's a free guide.
06:46So it kind of flows naturally.
06:49You don't want to just, you know, throw some random link in there, right?
06:52You want to, you want, you, basically, you're trying to be as helpful as possible in your blog post, okay?
06:58All right.
07:01So landing pages are very amazing.
07:03Highly recommend them.
07:04And I think what the call to action is, it just increases the chance of somebody doing it, you know?
07:10I think it's, I think it's appropriate.
07:13It's like, okay.
07:15All right.
07:16Oh, so the ways to make money on Medium, which I'm going to go over right now, actually, is you can stick affiliate links directly in the post.
07:25So if they click that link and they do something, maybe buy a product or even fill out a form, you get paid.
07:31That's number one.
07:32Number two, what I recommend is a landing page where you can collect emails and then send emails on various products or their social media content.
07:41And you can make money from that as well.
07:42You know, 15 years ago, it was all about the list.
07:48Today, it's about the list.
07:5115 years from now, it's a list.
07:53So it just works.
07:55Number three, they have something called the Medium Partner Program.
07:58And you can make a little bit of cash from your content from fees from Medium members.
08:04But the other two ways you can make more, I think.
08:06That's like a bonus.
08:07But I've heard people make some really good money on Medium.
08:10All right.
08:11Next up, networking.
08:15If someone leaves a comment, it's a great idea to comment back, you know, even thank them, you know, something like that.
08:23And another idea, if someone claps, which is basically like a like on Medium, if someone claps for any of your articles,
08:31you can actually click on the number icon next to the clapping, and it will bring up all the people that clap and you can follow them.
08:41And that's a really cool trick to get networking, to get them to view more of your content.
08:48All right.
08:48Next up is the followers hack.
08:50One really cool hack is you find a profile that's very similar to yours, but it has a lot more followers, right?
08:59I don't know what niche you're in.
09:01But you want to find some influencers, you know, whatever in your niche.
09:04And then you find a good content, right, some article that has a lot of people clapping or maybe they are commenting.
09:11And you can find them, and then you can click on it, and you can follow them, if that makes sense.
09:19And I think you can do like around 100 or 200 a day, something around there.
09:23And some of those will follow you back.
09:25Now, you might be thinking like this, well, is that going to work, Kevin?
09:28It does work.
09:29Here's why.
09:30I used to do a super hardcore with Twitter, right?
09:32I had 10 Twitter accounts, 10.
09:36And I would mass follow people, and I would mass, I had a system where they would automatically send out tweets,
09:42and some of those tweets would be affiliate links.
09:45It would work so good.
09:47But eventually it stopped.
09:48But some people follow you back, and it just works.
09:51So, yeah, it will work if you just do it.
09:55And it's very fast to do.
09:57And you can kind of grow your following, and those followers can grow and help you view your content more and get more followers.
10:05That makes sense.
10:06All right.
10:06Another idea is the commenting hack.
10:09And, you know, you can use this.
10:12You know, you don't have to.
10:13But the idea is you want to find an account that's very similar to yours and your niche.
10:17And then you find people who follow that account or comment or clap and see if you have any articles.
10:24And then you just write a very positive message like, hey, you know, thanks for the article I really liked.
10:29It's something generic.
10:30And some of those people will look at you and then, you know, check out your stuff and create some buzz.
10:35Just keep in mind that comments are not really as important as writing good content.
10:40Just be honest.
10:42That should be your top priority.
10:43You know, don't comment on people if you don't have any content or stuff.
10:48Plus, it's debatable how effective that strategy really is.
10:52I honestly don't know because I don't do it.
10:55To be honest, it could work.
10:57It could not work.
10:58I don't know.
10:59I don't do it.
11:00Actually, I take that back.
11:01I do do that.
11:02With LinkedIn, I do know that if you do post something and you engage with other people's content, the algorithm will help push out your content.
11:10I don't know if it works with Medium, but with LinkedIn, I do do that.
11:14So, I take that back.
11:15And Reddit, I do as well.
11:16But whatever.
11:18All right.
11:18Next up is repurposing.
11:21And I'm a real big believer in this is if you want to win a line and you want to get more done with less work.
11:28Nobody wants to work, right?
11:29We're all lazy people.
11:31I'm lazy.
11:33Is you want to repurpose.
11:34And it's a mindset.
11:35You want to – so, I'll give you an example.
11:38You want to work smarter, not harder.
11:40You know, kill one bird, two birds with one stone or kill ten birds with one stone.
11:45So, one article you write, you can actually suck the life out of it so you can have content for the whole week.
11:51Yeah.
11:52Like, you know, I actually wrote a whole guide on crazy freaking ideas on how to do this if you're extreme.
11:57I don't even do it that extreme.
11:59I do some of it.
12:00But I like to write and create videos and I like to do stuff.
12:03But you don't have to come up with brand new fresh ideas basically.
12:06You recycle and reuse your stuff.
12:09If that makes sense.
12:11Like, I'll give you an example.
12:12Like this blog post, I don't have to create notes for a video.
12:15It's right there.
12:16I'm just reading the blog post and I make a video.
12:18So, I kill two birds with one stone, right?
12:21Like, that blog post, I can post to Medium, LinkedIn, your YouTube video.
12:27You can repurpose into other places like Dailymotion, Rumble.
12:32You know, you can make short videos from them.
12:35You get the idea, right?
12:36You can kind of repurpose it.
12:37Anyways, hope that makes sense.
12:39So, Medium's a great platform.
12:41I've always loved it.
12:42I just want to, you know, give you a little bit of some more and learn more about it.
12:46So, that's why I'm creating this video.
12:48Hope this was at least a little bit helpful to you.
12:50I'll put the link below to this blog post and you can kind of, if you want to learn more about it,
12:55and you can kind of check out those free guides that I created as well if you want.
12:59But there's also a lot more to Medium as well, which I didn't even get into, which is like magazines, you know?
13:06So, and then if you create your own blog, I really like this because you own it.
13:10See, the problem with these platforms, they all change.
13:13So, you're at the mercy.
13:14When you own your own blog, your own website, it's like a piece of security.
13:19And take it from me, I've lost some accounts.
13:22I've had four quarter accounts that were canceled.
13:25One account, I didn't even post a link.
13:27Just helpful content.
13:28And they just, and I asked the monitors, like, what the hell is going on, you know?
13:33There's no links.
13:34I'm just posting helpful content.
13:36And then he finally gave my account back.
13:38But I was, my heart was so gone.
13:40I'm like, what's the point?
13:43So, just know that some of these platforms, you're at their mercy, you know?
13:49And they all can do this.
13:50Like Medium, you can post your content up there.
13:52And next thing you know, they're like, well, we're just going to suspend you.
13:56Boop.
13:56You know?
13:57And you're like, oh, you know?
13:58So, anyways, I'm rambling.
14:00Hopefully this was helpful.
14:01I'll put the link below if you want to check out this blog post.
14:04And you have a wonderful rest of your day.
14:06Okay, bye.
