00:01And now our country is entering the most profound set of crises in my lifetime.

00:08Under a government even worse, far worse, than the one it replaced.

00:13Crisis in the economy. Crisis at the border.

00:17Crisis in our streets. Crisis in our military. Crisis for young people.

00:23Yes, we are still a great country and there are good reasons that so many migrants want to come here.

00:31But there are also reasons so many entrepreneurs and young people want to leave.

00:37Britain is not broken, but it is badly damaged.

00:42And so in this crisis, something's got to give.

00:46I hoped after our defeat last year that the Conservative Party would learn the obvious lesson.

00:51That the old ways don't work.

00:55That centrism is not enough.

00:58That real change is needed.

01:01But no.

01:03We've had a year of stasis and drift.

01:07And the sham unity that comes from not doing anything bold or difficult or controversial.

01:13And the result is in the polls.

01:16And those lost voters aren't coming back.

01:22And every day more and more people are joining them in deserting the party that has failed.

01:28And that is the same.

01:29And the situation has failed.

01:30This is the case.

01:31But there is no mystery.
