00:00:00Ah, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Voice, Series 14, make some noise!
00:00:30Four superstars are about to go head-to-head for the very first time. This is going to be epic!
00:00:45With 45 million record sales worldwide as a solo artist and lead singer of Boyzone, it's Ronan Keating!
00:00:55I'm listening out for a voice that just demands I turn my chair. And a unique tone. I love it. I love finding unique singers.
00:01:09Returning for her second season, it's award-winning singer-songwriter and Eurovision global sensation Kate Miller-Hydeke.
00:01:17Miller-Hydeke. Something I have that they don't have is that I'm the only Australian in the coaching team.
00:01:23So, for an artist to choose one of the other coaches would be kind of unpatriotic.
00:01:27With a career spanning four decades and 14 number one singles, it's Grammy award-winning rocker Richard Marks!
00:01:44I want to mentor, nurture, and potentially collaborate with the next generation of great singers.
00:01:54If you want my future, forget my ass. I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want.
00:02:00She was in the best-selling girl group of all time. It's pop icon and Spice Girl, Melanie C.
00:02:10Look, I'm Sporty Spice. I like to win. I need to win. I'm very competitive.
00:02:17I'm my lover.

00:05:08step out and do it.
00:05:09I think at some point you just got to look at yourself and go, am I going to regret not
00:05:13giving this a crack?
00:05:14And no, I'm not someone who wants to live with regret.
00:05:21I'm Jackmo Sharp, I'm 25 years old and I'm a primary school teacher, currently teaching
00:05:27year 6 class.
00:05:29I'd love for my students to hopefully watch this and think, well if Jack can go out there
00:05:34and give it a go and follow his dreams and his passion, then maybe I can do that too.
00:05:44This is a really big thing for me.
00:05:46I've never done anything like this before.
00:05:49I've never even really sung on stage before.
00:05:57Oh my God, it's so scary going fast.
00:06:04Yeah, here we go.

00:07:30I'm begging, begging of you
00:07:34So put your lovin' hand now, baby
00:07:37I'm begging, begging of you
00:07:41So put your lovin' hand now, darling
00:07:49Dude, well done.
00:08:09Way to blow the blinds wide open.
00:08:13Thank you so much.
00:08:15Way to start this thing.
00:08:17A four-chair turn.
00:08:18That was badass.
00:08:19Thank you very much.
00:08:23What's your name?
00:08:24Where are you from?
00:08:25I'm Giacomo Sharp.
00:08:26I'm 25 and I'm from Melbourne, Victoria.
00:08:31How long have you been singing?
00:08:32I'm actually a primary school teacher in Melbourne.
00:08:35Are you really?
00:08:37Yeah, this is all huge to me.
00:08:41I'm not used to this sort of thing.
00:08:43I appreciate all of you.
00:08:45Thank you so much.
00:08:46I love mine.
00:08:48Yeah, actually, I've got some bracelets for my kids as well.
00:08:51They made like little good luck chants for me before I came on.
00:08:54And that's your family over here?
00:08:56This is family over here.
00:08:57So I've got left eye, I've got my aunt, my sister, Teevee, and my two parents flew from
00:09:02Cambodia to come and watch us.
00:09:04Cambodia, awesome.
00:09:09Great song choice.
00:09:10It really showed your power.
00:09:11But I also, I love your vibrato.
00:09:13I heard lots of colors in your voice.
00:09:15I feel like you're the kind of singer that I really want on my team.
00:09:19Here's why you need to choose me.
00:09:21Because you've got a great voice and I'm used to working with great singers.
00:09:26I've produced so many great singers and written songs for great singers.
00:09:29People like Luther Vandross, Barbra Streisand, John Farnham, and Keith Urban.
00:09:33And I feel like you're someone that could go all the way in this competition.
00:09:38Thank you so much.
00:09:39And I would love to help you get there.
00:09:41I think we'd have a great time.
00:09:42Also, your energy is so good, man.
00:09:44Like, you can tell you've got a goodness in you.
00:09:47And I like to surround myself with good people and I'd love to work with you.
00:09:50Amazing.
00:09:51Thank you so much, Richard.
00:09:52I appreciate that.
00:09:53Tell us about your journey, you know, and getting to the voice.
00:09:59Where did you perform before now and why now?
00:10:03I mean, I haven't really performed much, to be honest.
00:10:06I did some stuff in, like, ballet bands in high school.
00:10:09Yeah.
00:10:10Yeah, I'm just sort of, I still can't believe I'm here.
00:10:13Amazing.
00:10:15You're here.
00:10:16You're here.
00:10:17You're here because you deserve to be here.
00:10:20Your acapella at the start was remarkable.
00:10:22Thank you so much.
00:10:23I mean, that was really, I was glued to that straight away.
00:10:26But you've no idea how good you are, which I love.
00:10:29I think you've got something magic.
00:10:32So come to Team Ronan.
00:10:33Thank you so much, Ronan.
00:10:35I believe in you.
00:10:38You are what this show is all about.
00:10:40Imagine that, you know, a primary school teacher who's barely ever performed live,
00:10:44comes up on this stage, absolutely smashes it in front of the entire country.
00:10:49That's what this show is about.
00:10:51You have an incredible talent.
00:10:55You have so many different colors in your voice.
00:10:59I would love to work with you.
00:11:00Let's do it.
00:11:01Team Kane.
00:11:02Thank you so much, Kate.
00:11:03I appreciate that.
00:11:05Giacomo.
00:11:06Giacomo.
00:11:07I love you.
00:11:08Do you know what I love?
00:11:09It's like to just command the stage the way that you did, but be egoless.
00:11:14You know, it was just, it was so wonderful to watch and it was kind of flawless.
00:11:18You know, the pitch, the tone, the timing.
00:11:21I would love to work with you.
00:11:23I would love to work with that voice.
00:11:25I do feel like you could explore so many different genres.
00:11:28So I think if you were on team Melanie, that's what we could do.
00:11:32Thank you, mate.
00:11:39So the choice is yours.
00:11:42Thank you guys so much.
00:11:47Like this, this is just, it's blowing my mind.
00:11:49So I really appreciate all of this.
00:12:07I think, um, I think I'm going to have to go with Richard.
00:12:12Yes!
00:12:18Woo!
00:12:19Congratulations, man.
00:12:20Thank you so much.
00:12:21Really, really great job.
00:12:22Thank you, sir.
00:12:23We're going to have a lot of fun.
00:12:28Watch your step.
00:12:33Dammit.
00:12:35Bloody Richard.
00:12:36Bloody.
00:12:37See you guys.
00:12:38Bloody Richard.
00:12:39Terrible choice, but go ahead.
00:12:41I love him.
00:12:46Hello.
00:12:47Jack, man.
00:12:48This is Richard.
00:12:53Oh, man.
00:12:54Insane.
00:12:55Oh, my gosh.
00:12:58He absolutely crushed it.
00:12:59Oh, thank you.
00:13:00And I can tell that there's a lot that he can do, vocally.
00:13:04He's got a real shot.
00:13:05He's got a real shot.
00:13:06Yeah, thank you.
00:13:07Yeah.
00:13:10You made your kids very proud.
00:13:12Yeah, exactly, right?
00:13:14Thank you so much.
00:13:15That's awesome, man.
00:13:16Bye, guys.
00:13:17Cheers.
00:13:19Oh, my God, man.
00:13:23Richard's saying that I could go all the way to the end is something that I never thought I would hear from anyone.
00:13:29The fact that he's saying that, it means, like, so much to me. It means a lot. And I'm just excited to get into it now.
00:13:36Absolutely robbed. I'm gutted. I'm just going to go back into my little book here and I'm just going to readdress a few things and change my pitch up a little bit.
00:13:47Oh, hi, everybody.
00:13:48I'm not talking to him.
00:13:49Sorry, I was backstage with the future winner from my team.
00:14:02Wow.
00:14:03Giacomo is a star and he's just a school teacher. That's what I love about The Voice is you don't know when you're walking down the street or when a barista hands you your coffee, that person might be an amazing talent.
00:14:15That's the beautiful mystery that is revealed on a show like this. I am so excited to see what's next.
00:14:32I'm a carpenter that pays the bills, but my passion is music.
00:14:36This is our time.
00:14:40I suck fruit, but going on The Voice has always been my dream.
00:14:47I hold music very deep in my heart.
00:14:50I usually sing in the shower, in my bedroom, so sharing my voice for the first time, it's terrifying.
00:14:57It's terrifying.
00:14:59I've never sung on a stage like this.
00:15:04Part of me feels like I'm well out of my depth.
00:15:07Another part of me feels like I might be unique enough to shine.
00:15:14Take a breath. Let's do this. You got this.
00:15:16This season on The Voice.
00:15:27This is the reason I wanted to come here to find voices like yours.
00:15:32Man, I have goosebumps.
00:15:34This is why I love this show. This is why I love The Voice.
00:15:37I feel like we should have paid for that performance.
00:15:40There's just something in the water here, man. Like, everybody sings their ass off.
00:15:46The new coaching line-up is more competitive than ever.
00:15:50You've blocked me.
00:15:52Yeah. Payback's a bitch, ain't it?
00:15:54I would love you in my team.
00:15:56Only now you love her.
00:15:58I came here from America to win.
00:16:01I have one last thing to say.
00:16:03I'm a Spice Girl.
00:16:04Yes!
00:16:06Maybe if we went and we did that, you would come over here.
00:16:10I have a friend who can vouch for me.
00:16:14Nell C must want you on her team.
00:16:16The gloves are off now. Someone's got to win.
00:16:19This one really, really pisses me off.
00:16:25When I hear an amazing voice, it moves me.
00:16:29It was gorgeous. I loved every minute. I lost my blood.
00:16:31I'm sorry.
00:16:34What you have is heart, and a way to communicate that heart through your voice.
00:16:40That was so moving and touching, and I think everybody in the room felt it.
00:16:45Yes, man!
00:16:47That was one of the most extraordinary performances I've seen on the stage.
00:16:51This moment, this stage, this chance, it could change their whole life.
00:17:02This is the party!
00:17:25We're fully just rolling with you, Belle.
00:17:27Well, mate, this is it.
00:17:32We're pretty proud.
00:17:34Very proud.
00:17:35I can't wait for you to share your beautiful gift with everyone.
00:17:38We're just so proud of you.
00:17:40And I can't wait to see what you're going to bring to Australia.
00:17:43Good luck, Daddy.
00:17:45Fingers crossed.
00:17:47Thanks, mate.
00:17:48Good luck.
00:17:49Thank you so much.
00:17:50See you right there.
00:17:51I feel super tiny here in front of all of this stuff.
00:18:05I'm Bianca Okorvivic.
00:18:06I'm 16 years old, and I'm from Sydney.
00:18:08I'm in Year 11 at school, and I have a part-time job at a local fruit shop.
00:18:23And I just pick up a few after-school shifts.
00:18:25I stack fruit, and I serve, usually helping the old people to their car and cracking a few jokes with them too.
00:18:33It is really nice knowing that I can help them.
00:18:35Yeah.
00:18:37I'm always humming to myself at work.
00:18:41Yeah.
00:18:43I don't loudly sing.
00:18:44I try not to loudly sing.
00:18:54Going on The Voice has always been my dream since I was about five years old.
00:18:58What's singing under your breath in the shop compared to singing up on the big stage in The Voice when you're in the spotlight?
00:19:07That does scare me a bit.
00:19:12Usually when I perform, I do get a bit nervous, and I tend to hold back a bit.
00:19:19But the song I'm singing for my blind audition needs so much power and guts.
00:19:27I really need to bring everything that I have to this song tonight.
00:19:31Look at the stage over here.
00:19:32Because you only have that one opportunity, so I hope that I don't mess up.
00:19:37So, don't mess up.
00:19:38Good to be off.
00:19:39Don't mess up.
00:19:40Let me know.
00:19:42Don't mess up.
00:19:43Oh
00:20:05Did you really think I just forgive them forget no
00:20:14After catching you with
00:20:27You two time in chief I and wanna be

00:20:51To your head
00:20:55Oh
00:20:57Yeah
00:20:58You're executioner style
00:21:00And there won't be no trial
00:21:02Cause we know that you're
00:21:04There won't be no trial
00:21:06Oh
00:21:07Oh
00:21:08Oh
00:21:09Oh

00:21:48Oh
00:21:49Aww. Well, hello there. Hi.
00:21:59How are you doing? What's your name?
00:22:01Um, hi, I'm Bianca Iakovivich. I'm 16 years old and I'm from Sydney.
00:22:1116.
00:22:1216!
00:22:13Yes.
00:22:14Bianca, you should be so proud of yourself that you delivered the way that you did today.
00:22:19Thank you. Thank you so much.
00:22:21And I think, you know, seeing the audience's reaction and we all turned for you is like,
00:22:25I kind of wanted to come and give you a hug, you know, because it's so emotional.
00:22:29Shall I go and give her a hug?
00:22:31Hey, Bianca!
00:22:33Yay!
00:22:35Oh, my goodness!
00:22:37Just giving Bianca a hug.
00:22:39You're gonna get fucked, kid.
00:22:43Bianca, you have to pretend that didn't happen.
00:22:45Yeah.
00:22:46You know, that's not part of her pitch, you know.
00:22:49At times I could barely even hear you over the sound of the crowd roaring.
00:22:53Yeah.
00:22:54You absolutely wiped the floor with that performance.
00:23:00Bianca, I wonder what draws you to singing?
00:23:08What role does music play in your life?
00:23:10Without music, I'd be so lost.
00:23:13It honestly, like, calms me down a lot and I can always turn to music.
00:23:16So it's been, like, a really good way to deal with things in life.
00:23:20Yeah.
00:23:21Yeah, I get that.
00:23:22Whatever pain you have in your life, you can turn it into something beautiful that connects people.
00:23:27I feel a deep affinity with you and I think you need to join Team Kate.
00:23:31Oh, get out of it.
00:23:33Reminder.
00:23:34Deep affinity.
00:23:36Yeah, sure.
00:23:38Bianca, that was so mind-blowing.
00:23:41The last thing I imagined to see when I turned around was this little itty-bitty you.
00:23:47Because your voice is so mature and so powerful.
00:23:50What I'm looking for in this competition is not just technically a great singer, but I want to be convinced when you sing.
00:24:01I want to believe you.
00:24:02And I believed every word of that.
00:24:04Now knowing that there was no way you experienced any of that in the song is even more impressive.
00:24:10And I absolutely love your voice and I'm really fun.
00:24:13You've got to go with Team Richard.
00:24:16I believe that you will be in the best hands on my team.
00:24:22Bianca, I was 16 years old when I started.
00:24:24Don't listen to him.
00:24:25Don't listen to him.
00:24:26I was.
00:24:27When I joined Boyzone, you won't even know who that is.
00:24:30She doesn't know Boyzone, but have you heard of NSYNC?
00:24:33Yeah, she doesn't know them either.
00:24:35Have you heard of Justin Timberlake?
00:24:37Yeah.
00:24:38I produced him.
00:24:43All right.
00:24:44So, I understand where you are right now.
00:24:47You have the talent and the ability.
00:24:49You just need the guidance.
00:24:50You've got to go on Team Ronan.
00:24:51It's the only way to go.
00:24:52You're amazing and I want you on my team.
00:24:57Yeah, all right.
00:24:58It's a no-brainer.
00:24:59These guys are obviously highly accomplished at name-dropping.
00:25:03You have heard nothing yet.
00:25:05I haven't even started.
00:25:06I can't wait for the rest.
00:25:08As much as they talk about the 16-year-olds that they know,
00:25:12the only people on this panel who have actually been a 16-year-old girl
00:25:17are me and Melanie Singh.
00:25:18Excuse me.
00:25:19How dare you?
00:25:20I think what you have which you can't teach people is heart
00:25:29and a way to communicate that heart through your voice.
00:25:33That's why for me it's this incredible opportunity to work with you.
00:25:36Do you have a particular favourite style of music you'd like to do?
00:25:40I'm leaning more towards R&B and pop.
00:25:43Oh, perfect!
00:25:49I've got to say one more thing.
00:25:51You need somebody who really has experience with singers like you
00:25:55and I have that experience.
00:25:57And I believe that you actually could win this competition.
00:25:59Go, Bianca!
00:26:00Thank you so much.
00:26:01Let me help you win.
00:26:02You've got to put us out of our misery.
00:26:03It's time to choose.
00:26:04The coach that I'm going to choose today, this is a really hard decision.
00:26:19Oh, my gosh.
00:26:20I'm actually second-guessing now.
00:26:22Second-guessing's good.
00:26:24I think the coach that I'm going to go with today is Richard.
00:26:46Congratulations.
00:26:48You're going to have so much fun.
00:26:49You are so amazing.
00:26:51Thank you so much.
00:26:54I'm so excited.
00:26:55Oh, my goodness.
00:26:56Woo!
00:27:00Thank you for picking me.
00:27:01I'm not happy for that.
00:27:03She's so great, isn't she?
00:27:05Yeah, she's awesome.
00:27:06Oh, good.
00:27:07What a great voice.
00:27:08There's the gang.
00:27:09Oh, my goodness.
00:27:15I'm in a four-chair turn.
00:27:17I know.
00:27:18Thank you so much.
00:27:19Yeah, I'm so happy you picked me.
00:27:22Oh, thank you so much.
00:27:25Great to meet you guys.
00:27:26Yes, you too.
00:27:28See you soon.
00:27:29See you soon.
00:27:30I'm so proud of you.
00:27:31I just saw how proud my family was, and it made me super emotional.
00:27:34I'm getting emotional right now.
00:27:35I'm so sorry.
00:27:40Sorry.
00:27:41Oh, man.
00:27:42I said, okay.
00:27:43It is annoying how much he's done.
00:27:44It's really annoying, yeah.
00:27:45How brilliant he is.
00:27:46Yeah.
00:27:47Yeah.
00:27:48Very annoying.
00:27:49Because he's so old.
00:27:50Let's use that.
00:27:51That's it.
00:27:52Give us ten years.
00:27:53Yeah, yeah.
00:27:54We'll have done the same.
00:27:55Another ten years.
00:27:56Barbara Streisand.
00:27:57Absolutely.
00:27:58The biggest threat is Richard.
00:28:03Richard is pop music royalty.
00:28:13With five Grammy nominations and one win, Richard has stamped his mark as an incredible singer-songwriter.
00:28:24It's almost impossible to keep up with Richard when he's pitching.
00:28:28If he decides he really wants someone, he brings out the big guns.
00:28:34Yes!
00:28:40The songs he's written, the artists he's written for.
00:28:43It's like awe-inspiring how many people he's worked with.
00:28:48To name a few.
00:28:49John Farnham, Cher, NSYNC.
00:28:53Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand.
00:28:57Kenny Loggins.
00:28:59Kenny Rogers.
00:29:00Kenny from down the road.
00:29:04Unstoppable.
00:29:05Keith Urban, Madonna.
00:29:07Lusa Vandross.
00:29:08And, oh, Ronan Keating.
00:29:10I guess Richard must have been having a slow day.
00:29:16It's no wonder he's got artists lining up to be in his team.
00:29:20Unstoppable.
00:29:24And he's got a bloody Grammy, and that's a nightmare.
00:29:28If I was an artist on that stage, I would choose Richard Marks.
00:29:34Still to come.
00:29:37What's happening?
00:29:39Can the other coaches land their first artists?
00:29:43Yes!
00:29:44You can win this, but you can only win it on Team Ronan.
00:29:47You see, you say that, but where the Spice Girl is where you belong.
00:29:51Or will Richard's Celebrity Connections.
00:29:54Kenny Loggins.
00:29:56Oh my God.
00:29:57Stand in their way.
00:29:58Say hi to the boys.
00:29:59You're killing me.
00:30:00You're killing me.
00:30:01You're killing me.
00:30:02Okay, so as the resident Aussie, I just wanted to give you guys a little quiz, see how up
00:30:24you are with the Aussie lingo.
00:30:25Oh, ooh.
00:30:26Okay, so like we...
00:30:27Oh, I'm going to feel this.
00:30:29So just yell out if you know what this means.
00:30:32Whoop-whoop.
00:30:33Whoop-whoop.
00:30:34Oh, this was being discussed yesterday.
00:30:35Yeah, whoop-whoop.
00:30:36I mean, it sounds like it should be a party.
00:30:39Is this like I say to my wife, I want to take you home after dinner and make a little whoop-whoop?
00:30:43Okay.
00:30:44No?
00:30:45No.
00:30:46Maybe we should go have a little whoop-whoop.
00:30:48A lot of that happens out in whoop-whoop.
00:30:50Oh.
00:30:51Where's whoop-whoop?
00:30:52I want to go.
00:30:53Exactly.
00:30:54Where's whoop-whoop?
00:30:55That's exactly it.
00:30:56Whoop-whoop is somewhere out in the boondocks.
00:30:58Yeah, far away.
00:30:59Far out of whoop-whoop.
00:31:00My answer was better.
00:31:01Yeah, yeah, it was, yeah.
00:31:02What about yeah, nah, yeah?
00:31:03Yeah, nah, yeah.
00:31:04What does that mean?
00:31:06It just means yeah or nah or yeah.
00:31:10Yeah.
00:31:11That's it.
00:31:12Nailed it.
00:31:13Exactly.
00:31:14That was beautiful.
00:31:15My name's Charlie O'Derry.
00:31:20I'm 17 and I'm from Port Macquarie.
00:31:23Doing year 12, finishing my HSE this year.
00:31:26And after school, I manage a Thai restaurant.
00:31:29It's the best Thai restaurant in port.
00:31:31I love interacting with all the people, serving food, free feed every single night.
00:31:36And it helps me support my family.
00:31:40So when I was 10, my dad left for work as a prison chaplain.
00:31:46And he came back, never the same.
00:31:49He had an accident at work and got one of the worst brain injuries you could get.
00:31:59He'd pretty much wipe out everything he used to do.
00:32:03It's been a big learning journey, learning how to deal and live with all the challenges that come with it.
00:32:18It's been a rough few years, mate, but this is definitely a highlight.
00:32:24I'm just so proud of you.
00:32:27I just can't believe you're doing this.
00:32:29Thanks.
00:32:30Love ya.
00:32:31What'd you do?
00:32:36After all the support my family's given me, I just want to give something back to them.
00:32:40And I'm hoping music can be that thing I give back.
00:32:42My nerves are definitely there.
00:32:45My heart's almost beating it out of my chest.
00:32:50I want a chair turn so badly.
00:32:55We've changed my world completely.
00:32:57And definitely brighten up the last seven years for us.
00:33:01It'll be one of the biggest moments we've shared.
00:33:06Love you, Cha.
00:33:15Love you, Cha.
00:33:16A little ago.
00:33:17I did it.
00:33:18I feel so much better.
00:33:19Just one more.
00:33:25‑‑
00:33:35You better save it for the middle of the night
00:33:42When things aren't black and white
00:33:47Enter Caroline
00:33:51Just trust me, you'll be fine
00:33:56And when I'm back in Chicago, I feel it
00:34:04Another version of me, I was even
00:34:09I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
00:34:15You will take the man out of the city
00:34:27Not the city, I love the man
00:34:34You take the man out of the city
00:34:39Not the city out of the city
00:34:45And when I'm back in Chicago, I feel it
00:34:54Another version of me, I was eating it
00:35:00They know I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
00:35:18Once you left on my holiday
00:35:48All right, you all right, I felt all of that, that was beautiful, I felt all of that, I'm done
00:36:02Wow, oh man, that was breathtaking, you just made me feel something that I've never felt in this chair before
00:36:15Honestly, it was something really pure and from the heart, it was really moving, it moved me
00:36:23Sorry, what's your name? I forgot to ask
00:36:25No, my name's Charlie, I'm 17, I'm from Port Macquarie
00:36:33So young!
00:36:35Wow, vocally, it wasn't perfect, but give me emotion over perfection any day
00:36:43Can I ask, what moved you to tears at the end of that song?
00:36:49Music, it's something me and Dad can do together, play guitar together
00:36:57My Dad had an accident at work, pretty much half his brain is gone forever
00:37:03And he suffered from really bad seizures every day for a long time
00:37:07So he got brain surgery last year and the seizures just stopped
00:37:13And so I gave music, my heart is cracked and it's just, it's really emotional to see, it's paying off
00:37:21Yeah
00:37:22That's what I say
00:37:23Yeah
00:37:24That's just, I'm so sorry, I mean it sounds unimaginably tough
00:37:35But you have this beautiful channel for all of that emotion
00:37:41And it really comes through and I would love to work with you, please join my team, Team Kate, please
00:37:46Hi Charlie
00:37:50Hello
00:37:51Man, that was beautiful, that was really beautiful and so moving
00:37:55You've got that thing that you can't teach
00:37:57You can teach a singer technique, you can work on their pitch, you can work on phrasing, you can work on breathing
00:38:04But you can't teach a singer to make you believe them
00:38:08And I believed you from the minute you started singing, it was absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful
00:38:18I was really close to my dad, he was my best friend and I lost him when I was 33
00:38:24And we shared music together, making me very emotional thinking about my dad
00:38:30I would love to work with you because I think I get you and as a father of three sons myself, who all sing, I feel like we could do something really special
00:38:45So hey Charlie, you said you're 17
00:38:47Yeah
00:38:48I'm sure that your dad has been proud of you many times in your life
00:38:54But I don't know whether he has been as proud as he is of you today
00:38:57That was incredible
00:39:01For a singer to have those emotions, it's a gift, but also it can be a curse
00:39:05You know, because one of the worst things for a singer is that you do get upset
00:39:09I could definitely hear nerves in that performance
00:39:14But that was so moving and touching and I think everybody in the room felt it
00:39:19So it's so wonderful to have this opportunity
00:39:23And I would love to work with you and mentor you, find some different sides to you
00:39:28So I think if you were on team Melanie, that's what we could do
00:39:31As a performer, our job is to tell a story
00:39:40And I was on that journey with you, I was listening
00:39:43And you really changed the mood in the studio tonight
00:39:47We've had a lot of high energy, big moments
00:39:50And you've managed to manipulate the tone and the mood
00:39:54And that is a talent
00:39:55At 17 years of age, you already know how to do that
00:39:58I think we could go very far in this contest
00:40:01I'd love you on team Ronan
00:40:02You're amazing
00:40:03Come over here
00:40:04Thank you
00:40:08Hello Charlie
00:40:12This is your moment
00:40:13I went tossing and turning
00:40:22I need you on my ping, please
00:40:28You my ping, please
00:40:30Woo
00:40:31Let's go
00:40:32Shake it
00:40:33All right Charlie
00:40:34This is your moment
00:40:35I went tossing and turning
00:40:38Six, six, nine, four, eight!
00:40:45Alright Charlie!
00:40:46Uh...
00:40:48This is your moment.
00:40:50I went to Austin and Turner.
00:40:54Um...
00:40:59I need you on my thing.
00:41:01Please.
00:41:02Oh...
00:41:06Uh...
00:41:07I've got to go Kate.
00:41:08Kate!
00:41:09Oh my God!
00:41:10Yes!
00:41:14Thank you so much.
00:41:15That was really stunning.
00:41:17It was so amazing.
00:41:21Well done mate.
00:41:25See you in the buckles.
00:41:32Hello!
00:41:33Well done buddy!
00:41:34Well done!
00:41:35Awesome!
00:41:36You're so good.
00:41:37This is...
00:41:38Oh God!
00:41:39You must be so proud of him.
00:41:40He just blew us all away.
00:41:42You did it.
00:41:43Right?
00:41:44You did it.
00:41:46Love it.
00:41:47Love you too bud.
00:41:48You made me cry again.
00:41:50Me too!
00:41:52That's beautiful.
00:41:53That was incredible.
00:41:54Like everybody in the room felt the same thing.
00:41:56Yeah.
00:41:57Right moment at the end it's just got me man.
00:42:00Seeing the reaction under there was so beautiful.
00:42:05To see the four chairs turned it's just brought such joy to us.
00:42:09I can't describe it.
00:42:10I'm tingling all over.
00:42:11It's incredible.
00:42:12It's really incredible.
00:42:16I'm not just a singer.
00:42:19I am this embodiment of all of the things that I love.
00:42:23When I get onto the aerials it feels magical.
00:42:27I feel like not only is my voice being heard but my whole entire body becomes a piece of art.
00:42:38It's this limitless feeling.
00:42:40You're unstoppable.
00:42:44It's such a next level step.
00:42:46And I always find as a performer I'm looking for that next level.
00:42:50Like I'm looking for how far can I go with this.
00:42:56My name's Davis Gates.
00:42:57I'm from Melbourne.
00:42:58And I am 25.
00:42:59So the song that I'm singing for my blind audition is Grooves of the Heart.
00:43:10This song moves really fast.
00:43:12There's so much going on.
00:43:14Lots of moving and dancing whilst also singing incredibly high crazy vocals.
00:43:19You know I'm nervous because I'm definitely putting myself into this.
00:43:23I'm putting my heart into this and who I am.
00:43:28If I didn't turn a chair it would definitely be disappointing.
00:43:31But at the end of the day all I can do right now is the best performance possible.
00:43:36Heart is walking.
00:43:46Yes mama!
00:43:48Big reaction.
00:43:49Okay.
00:43:50I like that already.
00:43:51Yeah, good reaction.
00:43:52Sounds interesting.
00:43:53Hello!
00:43:55Okay.
00:43:58Feisty.
00:43:59She's going to be a performer this one.
00:44:01Alright, now we're officially in show mode.
00:44:03What's happening?
00:44:06Oh, chill.
00:44:11Chill.
00:44:12The chills make me spill out the back.
00:44:14Keep me filled with satisfaction when we're done.
00:44:17Satisfaction of what's to come.
00:44:19Okay.
00:44:20I couldn't ask for another.
00:44:23No, no, no, no.
00:44:24I couldn't ask for another.
00:44:27What do you do?
00:44:29Do you do it?
00:44:30Oh!
00:44:31Yeah!
00:44:32My super dish.
00:44:33My suckertown.
00:44:34Switch.
00:44:35Yeah, come on.
00:44:37I couldn't ask for another.
00:44:38Let them go.
00:44:40I couldn't ask for another.
00:44:41Who's there?
00:44:42Oh!
00:44:43Who's there?
00:44:48Who's there?
00:44:50Who's there?
00:44:52Who's there?
00:44:54Who's there?
00:44:56Who's there?
00:44:58Oh, who's there?
00:44:59Oh, hello, ladies.
00:45:01Oh, yeah.
00:45:02Some looks in this talk show.
00:45:04I've got a deal.
00:45:05You're on it.
00:45:06I'm too local.
00:45:07Too late at life.
00:45:08We're making it.
00:45:09Doing it on the show.
00:45:10Going home in the next of your eyes.
00:45:12You need to be.
00:45:13You realize it's all inside of you.
00:45:15Yeah, what's happening?
00:45:16Come on, especially.
00:45:17Baby, just sing about that.
00:45:18Who's in the world?
00:45:22Who is in the world?
00:45:26Who is in the world?
00:45:28What?
00:45:29Get out of the room.
00:45:30Go, Jill.
00:45:35Pops!
00:45:36You missed out.
00:45:38You didn't see that.
00:45:40You missed something.
00:45:46Wow.
00:45:47I love the girls.
00:45:49The girls.
00:45:50The girls.
00:45:51I love.
00:45:52Oh, my God.
00:45:54She was on the ground when I turned around.
00:45:59Yeah, babes.
00:46:00You missed the whole show.
00:46:01Yeah, you missed something.
00:46:03Did you fall?
00:46:04Are you hurt?
00:46:05Honey.
00:46:06Honey, I fall with style.
00:46:07Oh.
00:46:11Oh, my goodness.
00:46:12What's your name and where are you from?
00:46:14Amber Skates.
00:46:15My name is Amber Skates.
00:46:16And I am from Melbourne.
00:46:18And I'm 25.
00:46:19Amber Skates.
00:46:20Amber Skates.
00:46:21Yes, Amber Skates.
00:46:22And I do, in fact, skate.
00:46:23I am a performing artist and a singing aerialist.
00:46:27So I love to sing in the sky.
00:46:28But also doing a bit of musical theatre.
00:46:30Oh.
00:46:31Which is very fun.
00:46:32Yes, so.
00:46:34That was just so joyful.
00:46:37I could not stop laughing.
00:46:41But I turned around because I could hear that there was
00:46:46something incredible going on on stage.
00:46:48And, oh, my God.
00:46:51Just the energy rating.
00:46:53And, I mean, you've got a fantastic voice too.
00:46:55But just this joyful, energetic stage presence.
00:46:59You are someone I need.
00:47:01I'm begging you to join Team Kate.
00:47:02Let's have some serious fun together.
00:47:06You see, you say that, Kate.
00:47:08But I think you're much more suited to Team Melanie C.
00:47:13What was so wonderful about that performance,
00:47:15you were so physical.
00:47:18Well, you didn't drop a note.
00:47:19You know, the energy didn't drop.
00:47:21It was incredible.
00:47:22I was so impressed.
00:47:24It means a lot.
00:47:27I know Kate wants you.
00:47:28But you've got so much girl power.
00:47:30I mean, with a Spice Girl is where you belong.
00:47:36I've got girl power.
00:47:37Why have you got girl power?
00:47:39I'm a girl.
00:47:41You have girl power in spades.
00:47:43But, you know, I am a Spice Girl.
00:47:45No, you tell me so.
00:47:46A real life one.
00:47:47A real life one.
00:47:48But I've had a lot of experience in musical theatre.
00:47:50And not only that, but also aerial acrobatic singing, as you know.
00:47:57So, I do feel we have that connection.
00:48:00I'm Sporty Spice.
00:48:01I'm just gutted I missed the performance because my back was turned.
00:48:07I could feel the energy.
00:48:09And as an artist and a performer, it needs to be electric.
00:48:13You need to feel it in the room.
00:48:15And I could feel it.
00:48:16I didn't turn because there were quite a few moments where it was shaky.
00:48:22And it makes sense now.
00:48:23Why?
00:48:24Because you were doing so much.
00:48:26And it's almost impossible to be able to sing perfectly and do all of that.
00:48:30So, it makes total sense.
00:48:31For me, I came into this with a certain expectation of what I want for my team.
00:48:38Which that kind of singing doesn't really tick the boxes for me.
00:48:43Yeah.
00:48:44But you'll be in good hands no matter who you pick.
00:48:45And, yeah, you're fine.
00:48:47You're a blast.
00:48:49What's it going to be?
00:48:50What's it going to be?
00:48:59He's dancing.
00:49:03I'm going with.
00:49:08Kate.
00:49:09Yeah.
00:49:10Thank you so much.
00:49:11She's a star, man.
00:49:12That would be incredible.
00:49:13How are you?
00:49:14You are too nice, mate.
00:49:15Bye.
00:49:16Do you know what?
00:49:17She was giving me ginger spice vibes.
00:49:18Oh, yeah.
00:49:19Oh, my God.
00:49:20From the 90s.
00:49:21The eyes and everything.
00:49:22Oh, God.
00:49:23Oh, God.
00:49:24Oh, God.
00:49:25Oh, God.
00:49:26Oh, God.
00:49:27Oh, God.
00:49:28Oh, God.
00:49:29Oh, God.
00:49:30Oh, God.
00:49:31Oh, God.
00:49:33Oh, God.
00:49:34Oh, God.
00:49:35Oh, God.
00:49:36Oh, God.
00:49:37Oh, God.
00:49:38Oh, God.
00:49:39Oh, God.
00:49:40Oh, God.
00:49:41Oh, God.
00:49:42Oh, God.
00:49:43Oh, God.
00:49:44Oh, God.
00:49:45Oh, God.
00:49:46Oh, God.
00:49:47Oh, God.
00:49:48I thought that was in the bag.
00:49:50I thought Amber was mine.
00:49:52I'm a little bit gutted about that one.
00:49:55I just loved how she came out.
00:49:58And it was like a shot of adrenaline in the arm.
00:50:01You know, like, the whole place lit up.
00:50:03So, you know, I'll take it gracefully, but I'm not happy about it.
00:50:07I mean...
00:50:13Ever wondered what it's like to sit in the coaches chair?
00:50:16Careful what you wish for.
00:50:21If you could only hear the artist's voice, would you turn?
00:50:24A True Blind Audition
00:50:29Careful what you wish for
00:50:31Up next
00:50:52Are you guys ready to do this?
00:50:54All right, so nice and quiet as our artist walks out
00:50:58There we go
00:51:05It's such a strange feeling
00:51:07Having a back to a performer
00:51:11You're sitting in that chair
00:51:14You can't see a thing
00:51:15You don't know anything about this person
00:51:17And you try and imagine what's behind you
00:51:22You can sense male energy
00:51:28It changes the way
00:51:31That you listen
00:51:33You can tell a lot
00:51:38By the sound of that first breath
00:51:40Hold your breath
00:51:41Hold your breath
00:51:43The risk of sounding a little woo-woo
00:51:46There is an energy that happens
00:51:48Wow
00:51:50Atmosphere's changed in the room, hasn't it?
00:51:53I think this is going to be a special one
00:51:55Being a coach in that position
00:51:58Is a huge responsibility
00:51:59We only have 90 seconds to decide
00:52:01If this is a voice we want
00:52:02On our team
00:52:04We are listening
00:52:07More than listening
00:52:10We are locked in
00:52:12Sometimes I wonder if people at home
00:52:19Turn away
00:52:20Close their eyes
00:52:22So that they can experience
00:52:25What we experience
00:52:26The only thing you can do is listen
00:52:30Settle in and prepare
00:52:43For a true blind audition
00:52:45Well you can tell by the way
00:52:53I move my walk
00:52:54I'm a woman's man
00:52:56No time to talk
00:52:57Music loud
00:52:58And women warm
00:53:00I've been kicked around
00:53:01Since I was born
00:53:02Now it's alright
00:53:04And it's okay
00:53:05And you may look the other way
00:53:08And we can try
00:53:09To understand
00:53:10The real times
00:53:12Effect on men
00:53:13Forever you're my brother
00:53:14Forever you're in
00:53:15The way
00:53:16Stayin' alive
00:53:17Stayin' alive
00:53:18Feel the city breaking
00:53:20And every boy shaking
00:53:21Stayin' alive
00:53:22Stayin' alive
00:53:24Stayin' alive
00:53:28Stayin' alive
00:53:34Stayin' alive
00:53:36Stayin' alive
00:53:41Stayin' alive
00:53:44Stayin' alive
00:53:45Stayin' alive
00:53:46Stayin' alive
00:53:47I was going nowhere
00:53:50Somebody help me
00:53:54Ah yeah
00:53:56I was going nowhere
00:54:01Somebody help me
00:54:05You can tell by the way I move my walk
00:54:12I'm a woman's man, no time to talk
00:54:15Ah, ah, ah, ah
00:54:20Ah, ah, ah, ah
00:54:37Awesome.
00:54:40Nicely done.
00:54:41Yes.
00:54:42That's all.
00:54:43That was amazing.
00:54:44So who are you?
00:54:46What's your story?
00:54:47Where are you from?
00:54:48Brenton Neen, I'm 33, and I'm from Karoibar in Queensland.
00:54:53Cool.
00:54:53Go Queensland.
00:54:54Yeah, I'm from Queensland too.
00:54:55I'm married a Queenslander.
00:54:57Yeah, one step removed.
00:54:59I actually used to live next to your mother-in-law.
00:55:03Mine?
00:55:04No, Ronan's.
00:55:05Oh, no way!
00:55:05Dead set.
00:55:06Oh, man, you've got to be on my team now.
00:55:08I think your sound is really, really exciting,
00:55:12and I'd love to just explore songs with you and repertoire
00:55:16and see where we can go.
00:55:17And you've got a powerhouse voice
00:55:19when you hit that massive note.
00:55:22I was actually shocked.
00:55:24Like, I wasn't sure that you had that in you,
00:55:26and it was just full of joy, full of spark.
00:55:30You're your own artist,
00:55:31and that's what I'm looking for in my artists,
00:55:33and I can't wait to work with you one-on-one in mentoring.
00:55:37Thank you so much.
00:55:39You know, it took me quite a while to make the decision to turn
00:55:43because I was a little bit confused.
00:55:46I was like, this sounds great.
00:55:47And then, like, the whole Aussie accent thing,
00:55:49you know, having a British ear,
00:55:51it was like, oh, is it too gimmicky?
00:55:53But then I think, you know, when that voice just cuts through,
00:55:56I was like, I can't not turn for this guy.
00:55:58I actually really enjoyed the performance.
00:56:01And, I mean, is music, is that how you make a living,
00:56:04or do you have another job?
00:56:07Yeah, it is now.
00:56:08I quit my job four years ago
00:56:10to dedicate myself to music
00:56:12and follow my heart and my passion.
00:56:14Very brave.
00:56:15Yeah, I think you are an incredible performer.
00:56:18I would love to work with you.
00:56:20You could so easily go all the way.
00:56:24Brenton, I waited just, I wanted to hear the high note.
00:56:27I wanted to see if you could nail the high note and hold it,
00:56:30and then you ended up holding it even longer
00:56:31than I thought you would.
00:56:32Wow.
00:56:33And then it just became really fresh and inventive.
00:56:36You have an incredible range.
00:56:37You've got great breath control.
00:56:39You can kind of do it all.
00:56:40You're a real fierce competitor in this competition,
00:56:42and I would love to help you.
00:56:46Take it up a notch.
00:56:48You're the reason I came to Australia.
00:56:52I came on this show.
00:56:53It's to find somebody like you, man.
00:56:55You've got it all.
00:56:56I've got a lot of experience
00:56:57writing, producing, and managing bands.
00:57:03I managed Westlife and a band called Codaline,
00:57:06and I got them going and set them on their way.
00:57:09And I've got some songs for you already picked.
00:57:12Come to Team Ronin.
00:57:13You won't be sorry.
00:57:15I'll just say one more thing.
00:57:19I've written songs with both John Farnham and Keith Urban.
00:57:23So I have a love and an understanding for Australian singers,
00:57:26and I also...
00:57:27I'm practically a Queenslander, okay?
00:57:30Practically being the key word here.
00:57:33Yeah, look...
00:57:33I need to say, I really love and respect how you've embraced your Aussie-ness,
00:57:40and I think what you do stands apart.
00:57:43And I think if you...
00:57:44If you join Team Kate,
00:57:48and I mean, clearly, I have a deep understanding
00:57:51of what it means to grow up in Queensland,
00:57:54because I did myself.
00:57:55I feel like we could take that somewhere incredibly exciting.
00:58:01I'd love to work with you.
00:58:03Look, you know, Kate can take you back to Queensland,
00:58:07but I can show you the rest of the world.
00:58:09So come on over here.
00:58:11Come on.
00:58:11It sounds like you've got a tough choice here, bro.
00:58:17Come on.
00:58:21All incredible,
00:58:23and I'm so grateful and surprised
00:58:26to have you all turn around for me.
00:58:34I've got to stay on home soil for this one.
00:58:37I'm going to go with Paige.
00:58:40Yay!
00:58:41Amazing!
00:58:46That was incredible.
00:58:47It was so cool.
00:58:49Absolutely loved it.
00:58:53You did make a good pitch, bro.
00:58:55That was one of my better ones.
00:58:56I thought you had it.
00:58:57I thought I had it.
00:58:58I thought you had it.
00:58:59Ouch!
00:59:00You absolutely nailed that.
00:59:02What the heck?
00:59:03What the actual thing?
00:59:05I'm so freaking proud of you.
00:59:07You're a psycho.
00:59:09How did you do that?
00:59:10He absolutely smashed it.
00:59:12Everyone loved it.
00:59:13Yeah.
00:59:14Like, I'm so happy you picked me.
00:59:16So lovely to meet you guys.
00:59:17Bye-bye.
00:59:18See you later.
00:59:20Thank you so much.
00:59:21I can't wait to work with you.
00:59:22Yeah, likewise.
00:59:23Bye-bye.
00:59:23See you.
00:59:25What the heck?
00:59:27Oh, God.
00:59:27Okay, so what's your take?
00:59:29Hang on, hang on.
00:59:30Yay!
00:59:31Yay!
00:59:31Yay!
00:59:32Yay!
00:59:34What's your take on that?
00:59:35What's your take on that?
00:59:37This disgraceful behavior.
00:59:39I thought I had it, huh?
00:59:41I mean, what do I know?
00:59:45Bloody hell, huh?
00:59:46She would pick you, she said.
00:59:47Oh, thank you.
00:59:49Next year, that's been my biggest and best pitch, I think, so far.
00:59:53And I lost to Kate.
00:59:55I am gutted.
00:59:56The winner of The Voice will walk away with a mega $100,000 cash prize.
01:00:07Plus, an all-inclusive recording development package, including production, recording, mixing, mastering,
01:00:14and access to Australia's leading A&R and label services.
01:00:18All thanks to Hive Sound Studios.
01:00:20All thanks to Hive Sound Studios.
01:00:21This is the party.
01:00:31Champion, you can't stop leaving.
01:00:35It's night one of the Blind Auditions.
01:00:38And already, two coaches are dominating, while two have come up empty-handed.
01:00:44I'm begging you to join Team Kate.
01:00:46Kate can take you back to Queensland, but I can show you the rest of the world, okay?
01:00:50So, come on over here.
01:00:52You've got so much girl power.
01:00:53I mean, with a space girl is where you belong.
01:00:57Here's why you need to choose me.
01:00:59I think I'm going to have to go with Richard.
01:01:01Yes!
01:01:03So, the coach said I'm going to go with Richard.
01:01:06Yes!
01:01:08Two for Team Richard.
01:01:10Two, two, two good ones.
01:01:15Kate.
01:01:17I'm going to go Kate.
01:01:18Kate.
01:01:19Yay!
01:01:20I thought I had it.
01:01:21Ouch!
01:01:22So, that's three for Team Kate.
01:01:24Now, it's just Ronan and Nelsie without anyone.
01:01:28I'm starting to feel a little bit concerned now.
01:01:30I'm worried about having nobody on my team.
01:01:33I didn't think this early on I'd be on the back foot.
01:01:38Maybe this one then, eh?
01:01:40Yeah.
01:01:41Come on.
01:01:42Come on, Ron.
01:01:42Thanks for those for Ron and Keating, ladies and gentlemen.
01:01:44Come on, guys!
01:01:45Come on!
01:01:45Good day, guys.
01:01:47I'm Zach.
01:01:48I'm 19 years old and I'm a water-skating cowboy.
01:01:50G'day, guys.
01:01:51I'm Zach.
01:01:52I'm 19 years old and I'm a water-skating cowboy.
01:02:02I've been water-skiing since I was eight years old.
01:02:03I'm currently second in the world for the junior boys category in water-ski racing.
01:02:14It's one of the most dangerous sports in the world.
01:02:16You hang on behind a boat doing 200Ks an hour.
01:02:21You hit waves.
01:02:23You dodge logs.
01:02:24It's a lot of fun.
01:02:26When I'm not out on the water, you can catch me singing.
01:02:29I love country music.
01:02:32I always wanted to be a country singer, but there was a time when I was really doubting
01:02:37my abilities.
01:02:38I saw Morgan Long was coming and I didn't have the funds.
01:02:41So I sold my guitar, went there, and I made a sign, and it said, I sold my guitar to see
01:02:47you.
01:02:47Morgan Wallen saw the sign and grabbed it off me and said, what'd you do that for?
01:02:51And then next thing I knew, he comes out and gives me this guitar and says, mate, I want
01:02:56to see you playing this.
01:02:57This doesn't go on a wall.
01:02:58You play it.
01:02:59He said, don't give up.
01:03:00You've got this.
01:03:01Just chase it.
01:03:02And now I'm here.
01:03:06For my blind audition, I am singing Footloose by Kenny Loggins.
01:03:10This song's definitely a toe tapper.
01:03:11You get the crowd going with this one.
01:03:13Kenny Loggins is a legend.
01:03:15I hope I can just get on stage and just do him proud.
01:03:18Singing.
01:03:18Want the voice could be the only thing scarier to me than flying down the river at 200
01:03:22k's an hour.
01:03:23I'm sweating bullets.
01:03:24I'm talking.
01:03:40Oh, what's it going to be?
01:03:42What's it going to be?
01:03:42Oh, tell me what I've got.
01:04:00I've got this feeling.
01:04:03But I'm just holding me back.
01:04:09I'm hit the ceiling.
01:04:12All of a sudden tear up this time.
01:04:15I'm going to go.
01:04:19So now I've got to cut loose.
01:04:21Floor poops.
01:04:23Kick off.
01:04:24So let's use.
01:04:25Loose.
01:04:27Loose.
01:04:28Pull me off on my knees.
01:04:31Everybody cut.
01:04:32Everybody cut.
01:04:34Everybody cut.
01:04:35Everybody cut.
01:04:37Everybody cut.
01:04:38Everybody cut.
01:04:39Everybody cut.
01:04:40Jump, pull me off.
01:04:50Hey.
01:04:52So fun.
01:04:56Hey, guys.
01:04:57Hey.
01:04:57Hey, man.
01:04:57How are you?
01:04:58Good, thank you.
01:04:59What's your name?
01:04:59Where have you come from?
01:05:00My name is Zach.
01:05:01I'm 19 years old, and I'm from the Hawkesbury.
01:05:05It was a solid performance, but personally for me, I felt like, I don't know, like, maybe
01:05:10because you were playing at the same time.
01:05:12There was parts when I felt like rather than performing the singing, you were singing along.
01:05:17You were coasting.
01:05:19Yeah, definitely.
01:05:19You know?
01:05:19I just feel like you need to be conscious and aware throughout the entirety of the song,
01:05:24you know?
01:05:25Yeah, thank you.
01:05:26The vibe in the audience was just insane.
01:05:29I mean, my cheeks hurt from smiling.
01:05:32I thought what Mel said about singing along, to me, that rings absolutely true with this.
01:05:38There's a difference between singing a song and singing along to a song.
01:05:42And this show, it's not karaoke.
01:05:44We're looking for people who have a strong sense of their own artistry.
01:05:48So go away.
01:05:49Do more.
01:05:50Get more experience.
01:05:51Learn who you are.
01:05:52What do you want to say to the world?
01:05:53And come back.
01:05:55A song like that that's so identified with Kenny Loggins, who, you know, wrote it and recorded it.
01:06:01You've got to really bring some more personality to it and more fun with it.
01:06:06I mean, it was really, I wish I had even better construct.
01:06:11Hang on a second.
01:06:14I just want to see something.
01:06:17Because the only person I can think of who might be able to suggest more better ideas.
01:06:25He is going to answer, right?
01:06:32I hope so.
01:06:34Kenny Loggins.
01:06:35Oh my God.
01:06:37Say hi to the boys.
01:06:40Hey, Kenny.
01:06:42Yo, yo, yo.
01:06:45Say hi to Zach.
01:06:47Hey, mate.
01:06:47Hey, Zach.
01:06:48Kenny, Zach just rocked Footloose.
01:06:52We were...
01:06:52He got the crowd going.
01:06:58He really gave it his all.
01:06:59But he didn't bring that special thing to it.
01:07:02And so I thought, who could speak to that better than Kenny Loggins?
01:07:07So any advice for Zach?
01:07:09Only if I'd seen you perform, I probably could have actually given you advice you could use.
01:07:14But it's my soul.
01:07:16But don't be afraid to make it your own.
01:07:19You know, if Richard says you're good, you're good.
01:07:21All right.
01:07:23Good job, man.
01:07:24Thanks, man.
01:07:25Thank you, Kenny.
01:07:26We'll talk soon.
01:07:27Say goodbye to Australia.
01:07:30See you, Kenny.
01:07:32See you, man.
01:07:35Yeah, I would say find your take on a song like that.
01:07:39You could have dropped out of the...
01:07:42You could have been like, you know,
01:07:45Footloose, footloose.
01:07:48All that kind of stuff, you know, like Kenny does.
01:07:51Just kind of try to make a song like that your own.
01:07:53Give it a bit more.
01:07:54But good job, man.
01:07:56Thank you, Zach.
01:07:58All good.
01:07:59Good morning.
01:08:07You're always going to compare it to the classic.
01:08:09And so if you don't do something different with it...
01:08:12Yeah.
01:08:13All right.
01:08:14Yeah, I'm feeling good.
01:08:15I have some things to work on.
01:08:16I would have loved to get that chair to turn.
01:08:18But I'm pretty proud of myself either way.
01:08:20Which artist has the coaches battling and begging?
01:08:32Seriously, why would you not pick Team Ronan?
01:08:34I feel like I'm truly the most qualified person to take you all the way.
01:08:38Team Melanie is the right place for you.
01:08:39I am actually the youngest person on this panel.
01:08:42And the least experienced.
01:08:50This one?
01:09:08What do they usually say?
01:09:10Oh, no.
01:09:11Now I'm blanking.
01:09:13Okay.
01:09:14Are we ready?
01:09:14I'm Cassie Henderson and I am 26.
01:09:22I got my first guitar when I was eight years old.
01:09:25I vividly remember watching videos of Taylor Swift
01:09:27and then getting my guitar teacher to teach me how to play those songs
01:09:31and then just singing along with them every single day.
01:09:34I was just forcing family and friends to sit down and listen to me sing
01:09:38for years after that.
01:09:40So, yeah.
01:09:44When I was 14 years old, I auditioned for another singing competition.
01:09:51I experienced quite a bit of backlash online
01:09:54and it took quite a big knock to my confidence.
01:09:59I remember spending a lot of time in the comment section.
01:10:03I'd take every comment as pure fact.
01:10:07Not a great way for any 14-year-old to be spending their days.
01:10:11I stepped away from music for a long time.
01:10:17I'm 26 years old now.
01:10:19It's been a really long road.
01:10:21I feel like I'm ready to do this now.
01:10:32I worked out how much I want this
01:10:35and how much I want the privilege to stand on a stage
01:10:39and perform for people.
01:10:42Turning a chair would be a full dream come true.
01:10:47It feels kind of cheesy to be like,
01:10:48this is my purpose, but...
01:10:50I don't know what else I'll do with my life.
01:10:52I don't know what else I'll do with my life.
01:11:22It's cool.
01:11:25You can set it up when you're nothing,
01:11:28but you're not true.
01:11:30Yes, I'm...
01:11:30Yeah, come on.
01:11:32...with a fool, with a fool.
01:11:34I like an angel through the car, some room.
01:11:38I don't want to call it off.
01:11:41You don't want to call it love.
01:11:43Only want to be the one that I call, baby.
01:11:46You can kiss a hundred boys and bars.
01:11:50Shoot another shot, try and stop the feeling.
01:11:54You can say it's just the way you are.
01:11:58You can learn skills, no stupid reason.
01:12:02Good luck, babe.
01:12:04Good luck, babe.
01:12:06You have to stop the world to stop the feeling.
01:12:10And when you think about me, you're always easy, oh.
01:12:16You're standing face to face with, I told you so.
01:12:20You know I hate to say it, but I told you so.
01:12:25Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:12:32And you can say it's just the way you are.
01:12:37Make a new excuse for the super reason.
01:12:41Good luck.
01:12:42Good luck.
01:12:44Nice.
01:12:45Come on.
01:12:46To stop the world, to stop this feeling.
01:12:50Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
01:12:54Woo!
01:12:54Woo!
01:12:54Woo!
01:12:55Woo!
01:12:55Woo!
01:12:56Woo!
01:12:56Woo!
01:12:57Woo!
01:12:58Yes!
01:12:58Woo!
01:12:59Woo!
01:12:59Woo!
01:13:00Woo!
01:13:02That's what it's about.
01:13:04Woo!
01:13:05Woo!
01:13:06Woo!
01:13:07Woo!
01:13:08Woo!
01:13:09Woo!
01:13:10Woo!
01:13:11Woo!
01:13:12Woo!
01:13:13Woo!
01:13:14Woo!
01:13:15Woo!
01:13:15Woo!
01:13:16Woo!
01:13:17You know what?
01:13:18I've done the voice all around the world.
01:13:20And we get big international artists to come and perform.
01:13:24And it felt like you were already established as an artist and you are coming to perform your
01:13:29new single here on The Voice.
01:13:30That's what that felt like.
01:13:35What's your name?
01:13:36Where are you from?
01:13:36My name is Kessie Henderson.
01:13:38My name is Kessie Henderson.
01:13:39I am from Christchurch, New Zealand.
01:13:40Oh!
01:13:41Oh!
01:13:42Woo!
01:13:43Woo!
01:13:44Woo!
01:13:45What does music mean to you?
01:13:47What role does it play in your life?
01:13:49I love to entertain.
01:13:50I love to perform for people.
01:13:53But music is the thing that I do when I'm by myself and I feel safe and alone in my bedroom.
01:13:59And I had a few setbacks and I kind of stopped singing for a long time.
01:14:04And I kind of realized one day that there is nothing else that I want to do in this world
01:14:09and in my lifetime.
01:14:10And so...
01:14:13I think you've got the right idea there.
01:14:16You talked about setbacks that stopped you from singing.
01:14:19What were those setbacks?
01:14:21There was a point where I had sort of like online commentary about my voice and just about
01:14:27me.
01:14:28And I think I just took it to heart because I was quite young at the time.
01:14:31I was like 14 and, you know, I think when you're a 14-year-old girl, anything anybody
01:14:36says is going to hit home.
01:14:38I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
01:14:39But the thing is, the better you get, the more successful you are, the more of those
01:14:43trolls will come at you.
01:14:44So, in a way, you can take it as a compliment.
01:14:46That was absolutely fantastic.
01:14:48Thank you so much.
01:14:53You know what?
01:14:54You are born to do this.
01:14:55You just own that stage.
01:14:56It's so natural to you.
01:14:58Woo!
01:14:59I feel like there's a lot that I can offer you.
01:15:03Being a Spice Girl, becoming successful at a very young age, there was a lot to deal
01:15:08with.
01:15:09And I like to think I would be able to help navigate that with you.
01:15:13You know, we can get strong and we can shut out the negativity because you have so much
01:15:18to offer.
01:15:19And I just think you being a part of Team Melanie, I think we could go all the way.
01:15:25Thank you so much.
01:15:29You're a star.
01:15:30You're absolutely a star.
01:15:32The way you performed and the head snap and your poise and your command.
01:15:41And I've been fortunate enough to have written for and produced some of the greatest female
01:15:46singers in the world from Barbra Streisand to Olivia Newton-John to Leanne Rhymes even.
01:15:51I have a Grammy for song of the year.
01:15:55For dance with my father.
01:15:56This is good.
01:15:57You're killing me.
01:15:58You're killing me.
01:15:59And I know you guys don't like Braggy, but I want her on my team.
01:16:03I'm using everything I got.
01:16:05And I feel like my experience as a producer and the versatility of my career.
01:16:11I feel like I'm truly the most qualified person to take you all the way.
01:16:14I really do.
01:16:15Thank you so much.
01:16:18I mean, why do I have to talk after him?
01:16:21This is tough.
01:16:22It's not fair.
01:16:23I've done this for a long time.
01:16:25Not quite as long as Richard.
01:16:26But I've worked with some of the biggest and the best producers, artists.
01:16:30I've got the tools, the know-how.
01:16:33You can win this.
01:16:34Okay?
01:16:35You can win this.
01:16:41But you can only win it on Team Ronan.
01:16:43So, please, please, join Team Ronan.
01:16:46I just want to say, I mean, all of these guys, they've made some very forceful pitches.
01:16:51In some cases, verging on, you know, arrogance, you might be able to say.
01:16:56Like, a little bit of hubris.
01:16:58I just want to say that was so cool and fresh.
01:17:01And I am actually the youngest person on this panel.
01:17:04Yeah.
01:17:05And the other thing I wanted to say.
01:17:07And the least experienced.
01:17:09Well, anyone's going to have that experience once they're that old.
01:17:14That's the thing.
01:17:15What I've done with my team from last year is we keep in touch.
01:17:22So, I'm not a mentor from another country who flies in and is lovely to you for six weeks
01:17:28and then goes away again who doesn't give you their number.
01:17:31I'm here.
01:17:32I'm in the same hemisphere as you.
01:17:34And I want you desperately.
01:17:37Thank you so much.
01:17:38The choice is yours.
01:17:39Okay.
01:17:40Um.
01:17:41So, Cassie, before you make your decision, I have just, I have one, one last thing to say.
01:17:55I'm a space girl.
01:17:56That's true.
01:17:57That's all.
01:17:58Oh my God.
01:17:59I just want to say this feels like a dream.
01:18:00First of all, I respect you all so much here.
01:18:01It's so incredible.
01:18:02And I really can't believe I'm standing here right now making this decision.
01:18:16Um.
01:18:17All right.
01:18:18Don't listen to them.
01:18:19Please pick me.
01:18:20Please.
01:18:21I think I'm going to go with Melanie C.
01:18:26No.
01:18:27No.
01:18:28No.
01:18:29No.
01:18:30No.
01:18:31That must have been so hard.
01:18:32That must have been so hard.
01:18:33Oh my God.
01:18:34No.
01:18:35No.
01:18:36No.
01:18:37No.
01:18:38No.
01:18:39No.
01:18:40No.
01:18:41No.
01:18:42No.
01:18:43No.
01:18:44No.
01:18:45No.
01:18:46No.
01:18:47No.
01:18:48No.
01:18:49No.
01:18:50No.
01:18:51No.
01:18:52No.
01:18:53No.
01:18:54No.
01:18:55No.
01:18:56No.
01:18:57No.
01:18:58No.
01:18:59No.
01:19:00I'm so happy you're on my team.
01:19:02Oh my God yes.
01:19:03Oh my God yes.
01:19:04Congratulations.
01:19:05That was honestly what a performance.
01:19:06Yes true.
01:19:07I had so much fun.
01:19:08I thought you were, I thought you were going to pick you.
01:19:09I really did.
01:19:10She should have.
01:19:11I really wanted her.
01:19:12No.
01:19:13I wanted her.
01:19:14She could go all the way.
01:19:15It felt like there was some star who came and did a performance.
01:19:18Yeah, it was coming to the show.
01:19:20So it felt like that.
01:19:21She got it.
01:19:22She crushed it.
01:19:25Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:19:28Oh, I'm so happy.
01:19:32She's on my team.
01:19:33She's so brilliant.
01:19:34What an incredible daughter you have.
01:19:37I go to school.
01:19:38I go to school.
01:19:39That was crazy.
01:19:40I mean, you saw the reaction.
01:19:42Everybody wanted you.
01:19:43Oh, there was nuts.
01:19:45Lucky!
01:19:46Yes!
01:19:47Oh, my God.
01:19:48Take her all the way.
01:19:49Take her all the way.
01:19:49All the way.
01:19:50All the way.
01:19:51That's the plan.
01:19:52Oh, my goodness.
01:19:53Well done.
01:19:54You did so brilliantly.
01:19:55Thank you so much.
01:19:56Yeah, oh, thank you.
01:19:58Celebrate, enjoy, chill.
01:20:00I'll see you really soon.
01:20:01We'll bring you so much.
01:20:03Thank you so much.
01:20:04See you later.
01:20:05Oh, my God.
01:20:07Oh, my God.
01:20:08Oh, my God.
01:20:10Four.
01:20:11Four.
01:20:11You nailed four.
01:20:13What's going on?
01:20:17I feel like I've been working for that.
01:20:19Just performance for so long.
01:20:22All right, fine.
01:20:24Let's call a spade a spade.
01:20:25There's no one on Team Ronan.
01:20:26It hurts.
01:20:28I have missed out on every artist I've turned for.
01:20:31Do I smell?
01:20:33Why is nobody picking me?
01:20:34What's gone wrong?
01:20:36This is not how it works.
01:20:37This is not why I flew to Australia.
01:20:39It's a long way to come to be rejected every time.
01:20:43I'm going to start fighting harder.
01:20:50You got a good one.
01:20:56You could win it.
01:20:57I am so happy.
01:21:00You could win it with her.
01:21:00So happy.
01:21:01Yeah, you could win it with her.
01:21:02She's great.
01:21:02And do you know what?
01:21:03She's so lovely as well.
01:21:04Yeah.
01:21:04Super humble.
01:21:05You could win it with her.
01:21:06She's great.
01:21:07She's a strong one.
01:21:08Did you even pitch?
01:21:10Did you pitch me on just saying I'm a Spice Girl?
01:21:12Hey, that is my pitch.
