00:00We have one of the very reasons why this weekend is called All-Star, and we are not to witness this match between Kev Mayashi and Alex Schell.
00:18Alex Schell, a long-time admirer, a long-time fan of Kev Mayashi, and so this is a bit of a dream match at home as well.
00:26Kev Mayashi, a long-time admirer, a long-time admirer, a long-time admirer, a long-time admirer, a long-time admirer.
00:33Kev Mayashi is the first PWG appearance in the Resert to America, I believe, in close to 6 or 7 years.
00:42Really? When was the movie ahead of the season?
00:45When did you put that together? I was thinking of something else.
00:50But this is a...
00:54Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. I remember when he took off the mask.
00:59The Dragon was very, very short of the agreement that he would be gone.
01:04The picture sequence.
01:07Oh, okay.
01:08No, no, no, no.
01:09I don't remember this.
01:10It was just a backstage thing.
01:11The Buddha sequence.
01:12When a man that was not very supportive of Kev Mayashi and Alex Schell has a long time
01:14flight.
01:15And you can see a lot of Kev Mayashi in that show, actually, once you get a period of, where he
01:22mimicked Kev Mayashi's automatic mannerisms.
01:23Yes.
01:24And something Kev Mayashi often does, Kev Mayashi, a bit of a mentor to Kev Mayashi.
01:42And it's something that, you know, if you were to take from the small circle of Japanese
01:48wrestling.
01:49You can say that.
01:50Yes.
01:51Absolutely.
01:52And why not?
01:53He's actually a huge influence on a lot of American wrestlers, so...
01:58I'm trying to come up with something else out there, but his influence is massive.
02:11His seed spreads fire.
02:12That's right.
02:13That's right.
02:14And so Kev Mayashi and Alex Schell are very, very even thus far in the matchup.
02:19And Alex Schell is making now a victory race.
02:22That's true.
02:23Grabbed him with the ankle line.
02:25I know Alex is stuck through on the ankle.
02:27I mean, a great part of the legs.
02:29That's like a single arm.
02:33But the legs did not stay, did not stay foot.
02:37Now Alex Schell, almost like a camera, is now wrenching back.
02:41He's trying to separate you out of your shoulders from the rest of the body.
02:48And you can see on our cloud right now, Katsahashi trying to rip the KZ, which is his website,
02:57where you can go find all your Katsahashi-related blogs and podcasts.
03:02And actually, he's got a merchandise.
03:04He's got Katsahashi-Crick, that's right.
03:05He's got Katsahashi-George-Furman Grill.
03:07I didn't know that right here.
03:08George Farmer's big man, apparently.
03:09He was like the Emerald of Japan.
03:10Yeah, he is.
03:11Part of it.
03:12And Alex Schell is a good person to be able to be written on Hancock, the right.
03:15And I'm sure at some point in this match, you'll have to see it.
03:17I'm sure at some point in this match, you'll have to see it.
03:33I believe that Katsahashi, when he throws the paprika in whatever he's making, he said,
03:42Boon Japan.
03:43Unbelievable.
03:44Alex Schell takes down Hayashi with the shoulder tackle.
03:49Alex Schell usually follows the help of the snot rocket.
03:53Perhaps that's a real show of respect for Hayashi.
03:55Hayashi sends him, sends Shelly up high, and then drop kicks him in the side of the head.
04:00Alex Schell may have come down funny on that wrist.
04:02You can see him clutching that wrist to his chest after he came down.
04:06And now Katsahashi is sensing an opening.
04:10Sees an opportunity and is driving his move into the hammerlock bicep, I guess, or tricep,
04:17on Alex Schell's arm.
04:19And Alex Schell actually throwing that elbow pad out of the ring, just maybe out of frustration.
04:27But perhaps giving away a little too much.
04:30Yes, I agree.
04:31I agree.
04:32Now takes him down with the fly of the mariner.
04:34Shoulder tackle does knock down Hayashi, but then rolls through with the arm.
04:37That beautiful agility by Shelly.
04:39Now Shelly comes up over the ropes.
04:41Off the ropes, excuse me, with the heads of the rope.
04:44Leglarion takes down Hayashi.
04:46And Shelly is fired up by Hayashi.
04:48Unimpressed.
04:49He is nine plus.
04:50Oh!
04:51And hits him with the leglarion up his arm.
04:53That's Hayashi showing Alex Schell that he is all business.
04:57The first sheriff just caught a back elbow underneath the chin and spills out of the ring.
05:03And Alex Schell coming up.
05:05Oh!
05:06And Kyle Kopeck called hello to the outside.
05:09And Cass, Hayashi, caught off guard by Alex Schell in their very first meeting.
05:13Unbelievable.
05:14And the way that both these men have traveled along the world, it was really amazing to me
05:20that this is their first encounter.
05:22And we're lucky enough to have it right here in the PWG ring.
05:25Alex Schell spending his time in Japan with the 0-1 promotion.
05:29He is the 0-1 max light heavyweight tag team champion along with Chris Saban.
05:35And Alex Schell not spending a lot of time in 0-1 doing most of his work in all Japan
05:42and in various offshoots.
05:44And so these two men have not met while they were in Japan.
05:46And so that's why this match is so special to Alex Schell.
05:50Where he can, oh, Cass and Hayashi firing back with a hard elbow.
05:53A hard chop across the chest.
05:55And Shelly, Shelly fires back with one of his own.
05:57But Cass and Hayashi, again, non-plus by Alex Schell.
06:01And shrugs off the attack.
06:02But that elbow found its mark.
06:04And Cass and Hayashi staggered a little bit by Alex Schell.
06:08But, you know, so these two men have not met in Japan.
06:11And so Alex Schell really, the only place that this match wouldn't happen for Alex Schell
06:17is in PWG.
06:18And this is his opportunity to prove that he has surpassed this man
06:22that he idolizes as a wrestler.
06:24He has surpassed him in the chosen industry.
06:28And that he is really worthy of the all-time,
06:33and that he is a favorite of Alex Schell.
06:36That Alex, or excuse me, that Cass and Hayashi used to hold.
06:40He's really of all of the workings of the all-time.
06:44And so there's a lot of things that could happen if Alex Schell would have come to his own.
06:49Well, let me ask you a quick question.
06:51If you were to wrestle one of your favorite wrestlers,
06:56what are your favorite, what are your inspirations?
07:00Like the gobbledger.
07:01The gobbledger, okay.
07:03Wow.
07:04Fantastic.
07:05Now, would you be able to wrestle him like you would maybe another opponent?
07:13Yeah.
07:14Maybe you don't feel so...
07:15I know what you're saying.
07:16You definitely have to concentrate on that.
07:18You'd almost be starstruck as you got into the ring with him.
07:21But I think, you know, at a certain point, your instinct kind of takes over.
07:24You're there to win a match, and it's nice to be able to wrestle somebody's pride-wise.
07:33But, I mean, there comes a point when you have to think about visiting the pay window.
07:38You have to think about what's going to happen in the future.
07:41And that's exactly what Alex Shelley is doing now.
07:44As he had the arm of Kaz Hayashi handle off, and you get over the top of the man like a
07:49suitcase.
07:50You actually saw him when he drove you looking to Kaz Hayashi.
07:52It's right.
07:53Exactly what Kaz Hayashi did with Alex Shelley.
07:55And so both men concentrating on the arm of their opponent, on the left arm of their opponent.
08:00And both men, very successful thus far.
08:03But I think Kaz Hayashi, or excuse me, Alex Shelley, is a little more successful than Kaz Hayashi.
08:08That's right.
08:09And it says, actually, Panic in Detroit, on Alex Shelley's trunks.
08:12I think I knew that.
08:13Well, is there a reason to have a Panic in Detroit?
08:18There has been a couple of people out there.
08:23Not recently.
08:24And Panic in Detroit, actually the name of Chris Samen and Alex Shelley's team, the Motor City
08:29of the Super Bowl, on night one of PWD's All-Star Weekend show.
08:33If I, I know I'm not from Detroit, but I have heard only great things about Detroit,
08:40about the, just Detroit in general.
08:43And I've heard it described as prison with curtains.
08:45Let me cut you off.
08:46Disco machines.
08:47Alex Shelley has Kaz Hayashi, Drake on the top rope.
08:50And then hits him with a jumping knee to the side of the head.
08:53Knocking Hayashi back into the ring.
08:55And I don't know that I would call it prison curtains.
08:58More like prison, prison with lawns is how I would view it.
09:02Prison with sodomy.
09:03Okay.
09:04More sod, less sodomy.
09:06What?
09:07I don't see the correlation, but whatever's effective.
09:11Do you know how you get the correlation to a sodomy?
09:13Not that you've ever been there.
09:18I tried to cast a Spurgeon's on you.
09:20I was only trying to make a light of a sod at the top.
09:25Alex Shelley, she was pulled by Kaz Hayashi.
09:27Kaz Hayashi was really close.
09:28Kaz Hayashi reverses those up over the top.
09:30Blocked the right knee to the top from Alex Shelley.
09:33And that dragon screwed the knee of Alex Shelley while Kaz Hayashi was standing on the ring apron.
09:39But Kaz Hayashi got caught up in the ropes.
09:42Excuse me, Alex Shelley got caught up in the ropes.
09:44And Kaz Hayashi has now got an injured Alex Shelley on the ring apron.
09:49Trying for a German suplex.
09:51Alex Shelley drapes his right leg in between the bottom and middle rope.
09:56And blocks the German suplex in time.
09:58And now trying to walk off the damage done to his leg.
10:02But now...
10:03Oh!
10:04Kaz Hayashi, instead of doing a standard knee breaker from the apron to the floor,
10:10which we saw many times in his matches with Kayantai Deluxe or Kayantai DX in Wichinoku.
10:17He instead just dragged Alex Shelley's knee into that ring barrier.
10:23And Alex Shelley's knee got caught and hit the top of the ring barrier right in between the knee pad and the shin guard.
10:30And so that was the maximum amount of damage that could be done to Alex Shelley's knee by Kaz Hayashi.
10:37Kaz Hayashi is showing why he is, I believe, a 12 or 13 year veteran of the sport at this point.
10:46And Alex Shelley only about a 5 or 6 year veteran.
10:49And Leopold and, again, PWG putting in the California State Athletic Commission telling us to plead.
11:01Because our clouds are getting so amazing.
11:03But you know what I said earlier in the broadcast before, too, that the California State Athletic Committee
11:08is not there to oversee the actions of Mexico.
11:10That's why we didn't have a massive action.
11:13We're cutting coins and sparing some expense to bring you PWG All-Star Weekend 5.
11:18And Kaz Hayashi is really cranking on the ankle of Alex Shelley.
11:22He's really pushing him down, almost into a pin, into a pin to dick make.
11:26And Alex Shelley actually grabbing the bottom ropes.
11:28And Kaz Hayashi getting on the face of record Danny Martinez.
11:31I'm not sure why, but perhaps he felt that.
11:34Did he count the pin fall fast enough or didn't count the pin fall at all?
11:38But nonetheless, Alex Shelley, with his knee being worked over,
11:42his knee and leg being worked over by Kaz Hayashi,
11:45has a tough road to hoe ahead of him.
11:47If he expects to become one of those victories,
11:49he's going to be a superstar.
11:50Ooh, and you know, coming down on that leg right there on hip tossing.
11:53Oh, going in.
11:54And playing submission to Newer on the leg.
11:56And this could be it right here.
11:57This trailer hitch, or I know this has a name here, I believe I don't,
12:01I'm blanking on what it is, but this is Jamie Noble's trailer hitch.
12:04Jamie Noble, of course, tag team partner of Kaz Hayashi when he was on, excuse me,
12:09in WCW, and Alex Shelley crawling his way to get his hands on the bottom rope
12:14to force Kaz Hayashi to break the submission hold.
12:17Very, very smart wrestling by Kaz Hayashi.
12:19But this go, would you expect anything less?
12:21Oh, nothing less.
12:22And it's hard to imagine that Jamie Noble was a junk dragon.
12:26A junk dragon.
12:27A junk.
12:28Along with Jimmy Yenning, they could not be less Asian.
12:35Even though Jimmy Yenning, I believe, is not the same.
12:38That's right.
12:39And now just trading it out right in the middle of the ring.
12:42Elbows aplenty.
12:44Right to the jaw and the side of the head.
12:46Oh!
12:47Alex Shelley stunner on Kaz Hayashi.
12:50But Kaz Hayashi, you can see, is stunned by it.
12:53Oh!
12:54Drop kicking the knee of Alex Shelley.
12:56And Alex Shelley thought he bought himself some time.
12:59But not that much time as Kaz Hayashi just drop kicked the left knee
13:03out from under Alex Shelley.
13:04And you can see Alex Shelley clutching that knee in pain,
13:06trying to shake off any damage done to it by Hayashi.
13:11But Hayashi just waiting, lying in wait.
13:15And now Shelley's got himself back up to his feet.
13:18Kaz Hayashi pulling through.
13:19Could be going for a dragon screw.
13:21Yes, it is.
13:22Dragon screw taking down Alex Shelley.
13:24And the punishment really being dished out on the knee of Alex Shelley.
13:28There's that influence from Keiji Muto where the dragon screw leg whip.
13:32Actually, the dragon screw Tetsumi Fushigami move.
13:36Oh, yeah.
13:37But Keiji Muto known to use it on occasion or free during the adventure.
13:41That's right.
13:42And now, oh, going to drape that leg over the second rope.
13:47Trying to hinge it off.
13:48But Alex Shelley fighting with...
13:50Alex Shelley driving the point of his elbow in between the shoulder blades.
13:53Up Kaz Hayashi.
13:54And he's stuck between the middle and bottom rope.
13:57And he's going nowhere.
13:59Now Kaz Hayashi telling Danny Martinez to get out of the way.
14:02And what is this?
14:03Hayashi.
14:04Oh!
14:05Oh!
14:06Lion salts Alex Shelley with his legs trapped between the rope.
14:09And that's just doing more and more damage.
14:11You can see Alex Shelley just trying to push himself out of that position after he was Lion
14:16salted.
14:17And so, I mean, if his body weight wasn't pulling on, separating his knee from the rest of
14:21the body enough, the Lion salt just driving, uh, driving, uh, Shelley's body further and
14:27further away from his knee joint and really doing the maximum damage that could have been
14:32done in that situation this go.
14:33And, uh, and, oh, and going for it again.
14:36But Alex Shelley very smartly puts the point of the elbow back in the, in the back of the
14:41head.
14:42But Kaz Hayashi fights it off.
14:43Keeps that leg draped over.
14:44Now, he's going to run off.
14:46And Alex Shelley...
14:47Oh!
14:48Up and over the top with the leg laid.
14:50And then comes back, skins the cat after Shelley was stunned.
14:54And Kaz Hayashi, an impressive display of agility.
14:57But Alex Shelley not too impressed as he starts chopping.
15:00Kaz Hayashi shoots him into the corner.
15:02And Shelley runs into the corner.
15:04Oh!
15:05Leg draped and skinned the cat combination.
15:07Oh, no!
15:08Spoke too soon as Alex Shelley was coming back in over the top rope.
15:11But Kaz Hayashi drop kicked him right in the bread basket and knocked Shelley down unprotected
15:16to the floor.
15:17Kaz Hayashi coming in.
15:18Oh!
15:19And Alex Shelley cuts him off with the high kick to the top of the head.
15:22Kaz Hayashi a bit stunned by Alex Shelley.
15:25But Alex Shelley coming back and in a big way in this match.
15:29And the thing, the ball, excuse me, the ball could be going back in the court of Alex Shelley
15:34at this point.
15:35And I'm not sure that this is the smartest move right here to come off the top with that
15:39injured leg.
15:40Oh, and lands on that leg.
15:41That's what I was talking about.
15:42But it still had the presence of mind to give an enziguri right to Kaz Hayashi.
15:46Kaz Hayashi staggered back into the corner as Alex Shelley comes within a hair's breadth
15:52of losing control of this match.
15:53And there we see again Kaz Hayashi getting the back elbow up coming back into control.
15:58But Alex Shelley, a master of his environment, using the ring to his advantage, crushed Kaz Hayashi.
16:04And Kaz Hayashi got caught up on the top rope and then hit him with the neck breaker.
16:08Now Kaz Hayashi stuck in the tree of Joey Lawrence.
16:11And Alex Shelley getting the crowd fired up.
16:14And there could be any number of things.
16:16But I think there is a drop kick in Kaz Hayashi's future.
16:19And that's exactly the case as Alex Shelley just drop kicked Kaz Hayashi right underneath
16:24the chin and drove his head backwards as Kaz Hayashi was stuck in the tree of woe.
16:31Now he's got him locked in.
16:32Could he be going for it?
16:33No.
16:34Oh!
16:35First brushing leg sweep.
16:36He recovers and hooks the leg deep.
16:38Two.
16:39Two con only as Kaz Hayashi fits out.
16:41Thought he was going for the border city stretch.
16:43But no, it was a reverse rushing leg sweep as Kaz Hayashi driven down to the mat.
16:49And Alex Shelley still in control of this match.
16:52You can see trying to work out the kinks of that left leg of his.
16:55But now pulling an Ashi close.
16:57Pulls him in.
16:58Trying for maybe a German suplex for Kaz Hayashi blocks.
17:01We never know what Alex Shelley was going for.
17:03Almost to the edge.
17:05Puts on the brakes.
17:06Puts on the brakes.
17:07Oh!
17:08Off the ropes.
17:09Gets him with an enzuhiri.
17:10Almost like a side head kick instead.
17:13But Alex Shelley stunned.
17:14Not going down.
17:15But Kaz Hayashi picks him up.
17:16And Alex Shelley picks him up.
17:17Oh!
17:18Oh!
17:19Oh!
17:20Oh!
17:21Oh!
17:22Oh!
17:23Oh!
17:24Oh!
17:26Oh!
17:27Oh!
17:28Oh!
17:29Oh!
17:30Oh!
17:31Oh!
17:35Oh!
17:36Ashi on the top of his head, Ashi might have gotten his forearm in the way and was in front of that maneuver.
17:43But Alex Shirley unprotected, eating another brain buster.
17:47Both these two men with a flurry of offense here in this match.
17:51But both men are down for the count after that impressive display.
17:57Unbelievable.
17:59Oh, and Alex Shirley's still trying to get movement back in that leg, but taking two brain busters.
18:06I'm sure he might want to get some movement back into his neck and head.
18:09The fans very appreciative.
18:11And Danny Martinez, the referee, administering the standing ten count.
18:14He's at five, now six, as both men are fighting to get up to their feet after that.
18:19Two consecutive German suplexes and two consecutive brain busters.
18:22And so now Casahashi, he's got Shelly up, goes for the air raid crash.
18:27But instead, Casahashi rolls through, hits him with the side head kick.
18:31And Shelly's stunned by that.
18:33Ayashi's got the ball back in his court as he climbs up to the top rope.
18:37A bit slowly, though, after eating two consecutive German suplexes.
18:41And slow enough to allow Alex Shelly to get back up to his feet as he cuts Casahashi off on the top rope.
18:48And now he's got him up.
18:50And the jawbreaker, the chin buster by Alex Shelly.
18:54What damage did he do to his knee?
18:57And a Shining Wizard by Casahashi comes out of nowhere.
19:00It's a Shining Wizard after taking the jawbreaker from the second rope.
19:04The avalanche-style jawbreaker.
19:06But you can see Alex Shelly just trying to work out the kinks of his legs.
19:10And after he landed both knees on the ring canvas trying to break the jaw of Casahashi.
19:17Not doing a hundred percent job there as Casahashi came back with that Shining Wizard out of nowhere.
19:24The third Shining Wizard of the evening.
19:26That's right.
19:27Oh!
19:28He goes for the...
19:29He's going for the...
19:30Oh, now Alex Shelly, he's got him hooked up in the Border City stretch.
19:34This is what we were talking about.
19:35This is the move he beat Rocky Romero with last month.
19:38And now he's hoping to beat...
19:40He has Ayashi with that very maneuver.
19:42He's cracking back on the neck of Casahashi.
19:44You can see he's got his hands across the eyes of Ayashi.
19:47Ayashi cannot see where the ropes are.
19:49He's got to just work on instinct.
19:51And Ayashi you can see just exploring with his legs trying to find the bottom rope to break the hole.
19:59And he's trying his...
20:01He's trying his damnedest.
20:02But Alex Shelly is really cracking back.
20:04So gross.
20:05The Border City stretch.
20:06And now...
20:07And now Casahashi.
20:08As soon as Alex Shelly removes his hands from the eyes and from the face of Casahashi.
20:14Ayashi saw where the ropes were.
20:16Got his hand across the rope to immediately break the hole.
20:19If he was in there for any longer disco.
20:21I think that may have been it for him.
20:22Absolutely.
20:23It just was...
20:24And now...
20:25Thrown off is Alex Shelly.
20:26Oh!
20:27Dropped hole hold right in the second turnbuckle.
20:29And Alex Shelly now...
20:30Oh!
20:31But he's caught!
20:32Roll through!
20:33He goes for the final cut.
20:34But instead...
20:35Shelly reversing the foot to the head.
20:37The thrust kick.
20:38The super kick.
20:39Now going up to the ropes for the sliced bread.
20:41Number two.
20:42And he hits it.
20:43Covers and hooks the leg.
20:44One.
20:45Two.
20:46Two.
20:47And Alex Shelly somehow...
20:49Or excuse me...
20:50Kaz Hayashi somehow...
20:51Picks out.
20:52I've confused these men a couple times during this match.
20:54But it could be because they wrestle so similarly to one another.
20:58And that's...
20:59I think...
21:00You know, I see a lot of...
