00:00we know that our solar system is pretty special it has everything that life needs to form but now a
00:08new study outlines that if our solar system had just one more thing none of this would have been
00:13possible according to university of california riverside astrophysicist stephen kane if there
00:18were one more planet in our solar system nothing would be the same apparently if there were an
00:22additional super earth-sized or mini neptune sized planet in the lineup it would create what
00:27researchers call a mass gap according to a press release from the university kane says that using
00:32a computer simulation he added one of those planets to the massive space between mars and jupiter and
00:37it literally threw our simulated solar system into chaos with kane saying in the release quote this
00:42fictional planet gives a nudge to jupiter that is just enough to destabilize everything else that
00:47nudge sent most of the planets including earth careening out of their orbits and exiting the
00:52solar system altogether kane equates the solar system to a clock adding our solar system is
00:57more finely tuned than i appreciated before throw more gears into the mix and it all breaks
