00:00It's an interesting state of affairs right now, seeing there's a lot of African time, specifically in the midfield position.
00:05Yes, sir.
00:06Bring it to England.
00:07You know, you brought up Bassey.
00:09You know, my gym boy.
00:11Bring it to Caduce.
00:12Ghana boy.
00:13There's a lot more that can be named.
00:15But who are y'all favorites?
00:16Who has caught y'all eye with the way they're playing this season and what they mean for the club and country?
00:21I'm going with Anguissa.
00:23I think Anguissa's number one.
00:25Fresh off a Scudetto at Napoli.
00:27Fresh off a, what, 99th minute winner?
00:29Damn near that he just scored.
00:31Their presence he has in midfield.
00:32What he means to that team.
00:34Again, fresh off of winning that title.
00:36I think the sky's the limit for them and he's at the core of it.
00:39He's got some amazing teammates around him as well that he plays with great chemistry with the likes of McTominay and everybody.
00:44Lukaku, of course.
00:45I think Anguissa's just, he's just fully got it.
00:48And you can feel the presence of him.
00:50Like that game winner with that late run into the box is the presence of a midfielder that's at his peak right now.
00:56He's got the silverware to prove it.
00:58And so I'm going with Anguissa.
00:59Okay, fair.
01:00I have a question for you.
01:01Who would y'all say is Tottenham's sonny of the summer?
01:05That's an interesting question.
01:06It's not a BN Sports question.
01:08Oh, I'm about to tie it in.
01:09He's going to do Kudus.
01:10Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:11The answer is Mo Kudus.
01:13I would say Xavi, but I'm not mad at Kudus.
01:15You know what I mean?
01:16Yeah.
01:16And if you look at Richarlison's amazing goal to start the season, somebody had to be his man.
01:22I mean, and so it's interesting to see because Tottenham's definitely in a transition period.
01:26And for Kudus to have gone from West Ham to that, for me, he's, if not the best African midfielder, one of them.
01:32And, you know, shout out Semenya as well.
01:34And then, you know, I brought up Bassey for a reason because defensively he's been doing his thing, you know, with Fulham.
01:40Yeah, it's hard to pick one, but.
01:41I think, actually, this is someone who doesn't make a lot of lists because he's left Europe, but Frank Kessie is an incredible midfielder.
01:51What he did the last AFCON for Ivory Coast, unbelievable.
01:57Everywhere.
01:57He was everywhere.
01:58He could step into most teams in Europe right now and probably start.
02:01The way that Kessie played for Barcelona, the way that he won the Scudetto for AC Milan.
02:05I think he won La Liga for Barcelona as well.
02:07He did.
02:07He scored a late goal against Madrid, actually.
02:08The president, as they used to call him in Italy.
02:13For sure.
02:13Frank Kessie, I think, has taken a step away from European football, but if he were to return, he would be the number one African midfielder on most people's lists.
02:24He's by far the most well-rounded African midfielder on the list of people that you guys have named.
02:30That's fair.
02:31Can shoot from anywhere.
02:32Defensively, he's incredibly talented.
02:34Defensively talented, very intelligent, but also extremely, extremely good when it comes to stamina.
02:39The guy can play every single game for the entire season.
02:42No problems, no issues.
02:43A little contact, yeah.
02:44Yeah.
02:45So, Frank Kessie, the president, is my pick for the best African midfielder in the world.
02:49So, my pick is going to be a little bit of a sleeper, but I would say Ishmael Benassir.
02:56He's been a bit of a journeyman, spent some time at AC Milan, spent some time at Marseille, spent some time at, I think he's at Dinamo Zagreb right now on loan.
03:05But he's one of those players who, like, you just know he's not going to lose the ball, right?
03:10Like, he's not the most physical.
03:11He's not the most, like, he's not going to score all the goals.
03:14He's not going to show up on the stat sheet all the time.
03:16But, like, he has the technical ability to just, like, control the midfield.
03:20And when you give him the ball, he's either going to find a man or he's going to beat a man.
03:23Like, he's not losing the ball.
03:25I feel like a lot of teams nowadays are looking for players like that, which is why he's been a bit of a journeyman, bouncing club to club.
03:32And so, yeah.
