The Philippine Navy has carried out its first-ever live firing of the Israeli-made Spike NLOS missile from the AW159 Wildcat anti-submarine helicopter.
The exercise, held in Zambales, also featured the participation of the BRP Thomas Campo (PG908) missile boat, the BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06) frigate, assault craft, coast guard units, ScanEagle drones, and naval infantry.
This show of force forms part of the Archipelagic Defence Concept, a strategy to bolster the Philippines’ maritime defence.
