00:00Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?
00:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at the most satisfying deaths of despicable villains in video games.
00:14As such, there will be a whole lot of spoilers, so you've been warned.
00:19We trade one villain for another.
00:22Number 30. Raymond Schizo Sarkozy, Days Gone
00:26From the moment Schizo shows up on screen, it seems he was written specifically for us to hate him.
00:45He's supposed to be an ally, but constantly bumps heads with Deacon, causing a lot more trouble than necessary.
00:52Even though he works security for Iron Mike's camp, the only thing he seems to care about is proving how much better he is than Deacon.
00:59He turns to villainy by betraying you twice, which then leads to Mike's death.
01:03Hunting him down is one of the more satisfying moments from Days Gone.
01:06During a struggle, you turn his own knife against him.
01:09And before Deacon finishes him off, he gives a short but sweet speech about how much he'll enjoy it.
01:15Us too, Deacon.
01:16There was a time when I would have dragged you out into the shit, and I would have left you to the freeze.
01:25But hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, I'm not going to do that.
01:30You want to know why?
01:33Because they would tear you limb from limb.
01:36But you know what?
01:38They wouldn't enjoy it.
01:40I want to forget who would choose to be alone, imprisoned by their broken memories.
01:52I'll set you free, Alice.
01:54Memory is a curse more often than a blessing.
01:57So you've said many times.
01:59We've seen Twisted Shrinks before, but this guy is horrific.
02:03Dr. Angus Bumby is a child psychiatrist who uses hypnosis to erase traumatic memories.
02:08This leaves his patients somewhat catatonic so he can sell them into prostitution.
02:13And it gets worse.
02:15He also assaulted Alice's sister and set fire to her family's house,
02:19killing them in an act that Alice thought was her fault.
02:22When Alice confronts him, Bumby mocks her,
02:25claiming that no one would believe someone as crazy as her over someone as respected as him.
02:29That's probably true, and so Alice pushes him in front of a train.
02:33Someone as awful as him arguably deserves something less quick,
02:37but it's still satisfying to see Alice take him out.
02:39Number 28, Vos Montenegro, Far Cry 3.
02:56Because you two white boys, you look very expensive.
02:59And that's good because I like expensive things.
03:02I'm sorry, what did you say?
03:04What did you say?
03:05Did you want me to slice you open like I did your friend?
03:07Vos Montenegro is still considered by many to be the best character in the Far Cry series.
03:13But there's no denying his villainy.
03:16He kills your brother, tortures your friends, holds you captive,
03:19nearly kills you multiple times, and generally screws with your head.
03:23When protagonist Jason finally gets a chance to end things,
03:26Vos sets a trap.
03:27It takes a whole lot of fighting to reach him.
03:29And even then, the confrontation takes place during a strange, dreamy sequence
03:33where you take out multiple versions of him.
03:36Upon reaching the real him, Jason stabs him multiple times in the chest.
03:40Although you miss his presence throughout the rest of the game,
03:43we can't say he didn't deserve it.
03:45I won.
03:49I won.
03:53Number 27, Wraith Adler, Uncharted 4, A Thief's End.
03:58It's amazing.
03:59All these years gone by, here we are, we're still haggling over dead people's junk.
04:04Really?
04:06Aren't you running your parents' business?
04:08My business, no.
04:09We love a poetic end to a villain, which is just what Wraith gets.
04:13The only reason he's able to stay on the tails of the Drake brothers is because of his family's wealth.
04:18He's never earned anything for himself.
04:20All his knowledge of a grand pirate treasure is because of Nate and Sam.
04:24And all of his resources come from his hired mercenary group, Shoreline.
04:28Yet, he acts entitled to even more fortune, seeing it as a way to leave his own mark,
04:33even though the hard work was done by everyone else.
04:36So, it's fitting that he refuses to give up the fight while a ship full of treasure burns around him,
04:41and he's crushed by more than his weight in gold.
04:43Number 26, Ravenbeak, Metroid Dread.
04:53Once a respected warrior, Ravenbeak slaughtered his own people
05:12and planned to control the Metroids to bring order to the galaxy.
05:16Pretty evil stuff.
05:17But on a personal level, he also manipulated Samus by pretending to be her AI.
05:21And he reprogrammed a group of killer robots to hunt her throughout Dread
05:25so that he could clone the Metroid DNA within her.
05:29The fight against him is also ridiculously difficult.
05:32But that only adds to the sweetness when Samus is victorious.
05:35When it seems he has the upper hand,
05:37Samus lets out an impressive roar of anger and drains the life from him.
05:41He then fuses with an X-Parasite,
05:43but Samus unleashes a mighty blast, completely annihilating him.
05:51Number 25, Lionel Starkweather, Manhunt.
06:07It's always satisfying to hear a loathsome villain beg for their life.
06:12Lionel Starkweather is the creator of snuff films, selling them on the black market.
06:16And as a death row inmate, you're promised freedom if you can survive everything he throws at you.
06:22Gangs and sadistic killers.
06:23But Starkweather never plans to stick to his word.
06:26He even goes as far as to kidnap your family in some kind of twisted way of turning you into his greatest star.
06:33When you finally get close to him, he flees and tries making deals for you to spare him.
06:37Don't start thinking you're somebody, Cash, because you're not.
06:42I'm your only way of making any of this good, Cash.
06:45Think about it.
06:46It's karmic justice that you get to finish him off with one of his minion's own chainsaws.
06:51Number 24, MechaHitler, Wolfenstein 3D.
06:58There's very little emotional investment or moving narrative with this particular death.
07:03Just the sheer thrill of knowing you just blew the Fuhrer into bloody pieces.
07:08Effortlessly effective in its premise, the very idea of having to enter a firefight with a Hitler who happens to be armed with a mecha suit is just too hilarious not to be a fun time.
07:18After gunning your way through endless amounts of Nazis and undead mutants, you finally come to the Pista de Resistance, unloading clip after clip until the leader of the Third Reich is packed with so much lead he practically melts.
07:32Classic.
07:32Number 23, Huberto Alberti, Assassin's Creed 2.
07:38Trusted friend of the Auditore family.
07:41According to the history books, this guy was a saint.
07:44Karma truly does come back to bite you in the ass, or in this case, stab you multiple times in the chest with a hidden blade.
07:51Once a friend to the Auditore family, this member of the Templar Order betrayed his friends and arranged the public executions of Ezio's family for the sake of his financial well-being.
08:01Regardless of whether he regretted his actions or not afterwards, he doesn't have much time to dwell on it as Ezio soon takes his vengeance by assassinating him in public.
08:11Guess money can't save you from everything after all.
08:14You would have done the same to save the ones you love.
08:18Yes, I would.
08:20And I have.
08:21Number 22, Thaddeus Campbell, Dishonored.
08:25Thaddeus Campbell is one of several people responsible for Corvo Atano being framed for his Empress's murder, imprisoned, and labeled as a traitor.
08:46Thankfully, it isn't long before Corvo escapes, and the justice he eventually brings to Campbell is very rewarding.
08:54Once you track Campbell down, there are a variety of ways you can dispose of him.
08:58However, as revealed in the sequel, his canonical fate is that Corvo knocks him out and uses the heretic's brand on his face, a symbol that gets him sundered and cast out.
09:08This leads to him contracting the rat plague, which, as the game tells us, leads to an incredibly slow and gruesome death.
09:21Yeah, couldn't have happened to a better guy.
09:23Number 21, Pandak Baby Panai.
09:26Just Cause 2.
09:27No matter how many times we do it, there's just no feeling quite like taking out a brutal dictator who considers himself untouchable.
09:38Despite ruling over the island of Panau with plenty of military might on his back, it becomes clear that Panai has lost control of the situation given the amount of insurgency groups rising to take control of the islands for themselves, something we and Rico Rodriguez are happy to assist in.
09:54In the most Hollywood of clashes, Panai and Rico exchange blows while on top of a missile, which the dictator ultimately loses, leaving him on a one-way ticket to Boomtown.
10:08Number 20, The Prophet of Truth, Halo 3.
10:13Can you see, Orbiter, the moment of salvation is at hand?
10:19It will not last.
10:21The Covenant of Halo is an overarching group of villainous aliens trying to commit genocide against humanity, and the Prophet of Truth was one of its most prominent members, holding a lot of power and influence over the others.
10:33As if genocide wasn't bad enough, he also treated the Arbiter like his own twisted errand boy to accomplish his goals.
10:40The Prophet of Truth branded him with a mark of shame and forced him to go on missions with little chance of survival.
10:46Eventually, he would come to regret those decisions.
10:48In Halo 3, he was infected by the Flood, a parasitic race, before being run through by the Arbiter's Blade.
10:55I.
10:56Am.
10:59Truth.
11:01The Voice of the Covenant.
11:04So,
11:05you must be silenced.
11:07Ah!
11:08Number 19, Handsome Jack, Borderlands 2.
11:17You want to stop the greatness that is, Handsome Jack?
11:20There could not be a more fitting end to the CEO of the Hyperion Corporation and would-be ruler of Pandora.
11:27As the Vault Hunter, you've had to endure Jack's non-stop taunts, death threats, and bouts of insanity throughout the entire game.
11:34And while his selfish nature is ridiculously entertaining, it still feels so good to obliterate his plans and watch him give his final complaints.
11:43You can either listen to him ramble about how he's the hero that Pandora deserves or just shoot him there and then.
11:49Not so handsome anymore, huh Jack?
11:50Number 18, Devin Weston, Grand Theft Auto 5.
11:59Yeah, and I'm telling you that I don't give a flying fuck.
12:04Ha ha ha!
12:05After spending so much time with our three majorly flawed protagonists and overcoming insurmountable odds together,
12:11who honestly could choose anything but Option C for the game's finale?
12:15Out of all the douchebags that Franklin, Michael, and Trevor have come across, Devin stood out as the worst.
12:22Far too rich for his own good, spineless, and as veiny as they come,
12:26the boys finally got their revenge after kidnapping him, locking him in the trunk of a car, and pushing him off the edge of a cliff.
12:33It may not be the bloodiest of endings, but the build-up is so pitch-perfect that by the time the car heads over the edge, it's almost beautiful.
12:40Number 17, Andrew Ryan, Bioshock.
12:57I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question.
13:02Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?
13:06The death of Andrew Ryan is a complicated one.
13:09His ideology and actions played a huge role in the downfall of Rapture, his underwater would-be utopia.
13:15And he sends countless goons after you as soon as you step foot there.
13:19While you're being manipulated by Atlas to go after Ryan, there's no denying he gets what's coming to him.
13:25When you make it to his office, he willingly gives his life after revealing your true origins as his illegitimate genetically aged son,
13:32brainwashed as a sleeper agent.
13:34It's one of the greatest twists in video games, and Ryan refuses to die without dealing a final blow to his enemy's plans,
13:42using your trigger phrase to coax you into savagely beating him with a golf club.
13:46The pain caused by Odin is so widespread we hear all about it in the 2018 game before we meet him in Ragnarok.
14:13He's a master manipulator, he cursed Freya to be stuck in Midgard, tortured Mimir for years, and he led the near-genocide of the giants.
14:22In Ragnarok, he disguised himself as Tyr to create strike between Kratos and Atreus,
14:27murdered Brock when he caught on, and murdered Thor, his own son, for disobeying him.
14:32It was incredibly satisfying to pummel him in the final fight, where Atreus trapped his soul within a spiritual stone,
14:40which was smashed by Sindri as revenge for Brock.
14:51Even better, he died never getting any of the answers he sought.
14:54Taking down a souped-up version of one of the most evil people in history is ridiculous fun,
15:14but Irene Engel is genuinely chilling, making it all the more satisfying when you're finally rid of her.
15:19In each of her scenes, her glee-ed acts of violence and cruelty gets under her skin.
15:24Towards the beginning, she beheads one of BJ's closest allies and chops off the arm of another.
15:30Later, she shoots another ally trying to rescue you before having BJ beheaded on national TV.
15:36Through some sci-fi shenanigans, BJ is revived and tracks Engel down on a talk show.
15:41He swiftly delivers a hatchet to her face before he and his allies deliver a message of war to the world at large.
15:49He might think of himself as a patriot, but the actions of this one soldier are pretty far removed from the American dream.
16:06After losing his faith in his nation following the deaths of 30,000 unrecognized soldiers,
16:12Shepard sought to escalate the strike between the U.S. and Russia in order to bring about World War III.
16:17To this extent, he goes as far as to kill members of his own task force, including Ghost and Roach.
16:24It all culminates into a final confrontation to avenge your fallen comrades with one of the most satisfying knife throws ever.
16:31And how is it that we're repaid for our trust with treachery, with deceit?
16:47Survival is everything, though some individuals choose to take it too far.
16:51As Clementine ventures into the undead-infested world, she and her new group find themselves in the clutches of Carver,
16:59the merciless leader of a sanctuary whose disciplinary actions often led to someone either dying or getting horribly maimed.
17:06Just ask Kenny.
17:07However, he doesn't stay on top for very long.
17:10As the sanctuary is overrun with walkers,
17:12Kenny decides to get even by breaking apart Carver's skill with a crowbar.
17:16Whether you want to stay and watch the brutality is up to you, but either way, it's a truly messy way to go.
17:22And we loved it.
17:24Number 12.
17:25GLaDOS
17:25Portal
17:26She is one of video game's greatest villains,
17:37and the fact that her defeat left you feeling wholly satisfied as a result just adds to her psychotic appeal.
17:42Throughout the various lethal tests you had to endure, GLaDOS has been there, mocking you every step of the way.
17:49Always trying to get you killed, lying about the cake, messing with your companion cube.
17:53By the time we reached the heart of the Aperture Science facility,
17:57we were done being petrified and ready to put this AI in her place.
18:01After melting her various AI cores,
18:03we could only watch and delight as the machine with a god complex faced the reality of losing.
18:09At least until Portal 2.
18:10You know her?
18:11It's been a long time.
18:14How have you been?
18:16Number 11.
18:17Im Lareth
18:18The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt
18:20I'm here alone.
18:22A lie which will change nothing.
18:25Out of all the members of the Wild Hunt,
18:27this was the one we were most looking forward to driving a sword through.
18:31Not only did this elf relentlessly chase after Ciri,
18:33but his participation in the Battle of Kaer Morhen led to the death of Geralt's mentor and father figure, Vesemir.
18:40As you can imagine, we were ready for a sword-swinging showdown.
18:44And while Im Lareth's strength is undeniable,
18:47he's still not powerful enough to survive a fire blast to the face.
18:51Guess that's what happens when you mess with a Witcher.
18:53Number 10.
19:00Maester Seymour
19:01Final Fantasy X
19:02Unpleasant.
19:05Very well.
19:07I will give you your death.
19:09You seem to want it so.
19:11Have you ever met that villain that just doesn't know how to stay dead?
19:14Yeah, well, Seymour's that guy.
19:17After learning of his treachery,
19:19Tidus and his party go to kill him and end up being branded traitors.
19:22Then he reappears alive,
19:24now getting married to Yuna and kills one of Eren's friends in the process,
19:28where you fight him again.
19:29But he's still alive and then he wipes out Kamari's tribe on his third life.
19:34His tyranny finally comes to an end inside Sin
19:37when Yuna provides him with a long overdue sending.
19:40Yuna, you would pity me now?
19:46Kratos gets the opportunity to give the King of Gods the beatdown of his life.
20:15Oh yeah, and did we mention Zeus was Kratos' father?
20:18And that he led to the deaths of Kratos' mother and brother?
20:22Talk about family dysfunction.
20:24After stabbing him rather fittingly with the Blade of Olympus,
20:27Kratos follows up by finishing him with his bare hands.
20:31As our screens filled with blood,
20:32we were in awe of Kratos' desire for bloodshed
20:35against the father who caused him so much misery.
20:45Shao Kahn is a villain who needs no explanation.
21:05He's been kicking our butts since his debut as the final boss in Mortal Kombat 2.
21:09His defeat in Mortal Kombat 11 is wholly satisfying
21:13since it leads to Kitana, the true heir of Outworld, claiming her throne.
21:17But his actual death in the Aftermath DLC is a sight to behold.
21:21He teams up with his old allies Sindel and Shang Tsung to cause more trouble.
21:25But the sorcerer ends up betraying Shao Kahn and Sindel,
21:28sucking out both their souls and leaving them as harmless husks.
21:31Shao Kahn caused a lot of pain and suffering,
21:39so it was nice to see his plans blow up in his face in such a way.
21:437. Frank Tenpenny
21:45Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
21:46It never got more crooked than the crooked police of Los Santos.
21:57Although the definitive centerpiece of the unruliness
22:00was no other than Officer Frank Tenpenny.
22:03Through extortion and blackmail,
22:05Tenpenny pulled the strings to the dirty doings of the city,
22:08exclusively using protagonist CJ as his personal pawn.
22:12In Tenpenny's effort to escape Los Santos,
22:14he was thwarted by CJ in a desperate car chase.
22:17Crashing and running over an overpass,
22:20the broken and battered Tenpenny suffered a slow, pitiless death.
22:23I took the trash out!
22:25I did!
22:27And I'd do it all again!
22:316. David
22:32The Last of Us
22:33David leads a faction of cannibals
22:45and comes across Ellie in an infected ambush.
22:48Upon discovering his ill intentions,
22:50Ellie attempts to escape,
22:51but later finds herself locked in an old abandoned building with him alone.
22:56And worse,
22:56it's implied that he intends to be predatory towards her.
23:00Maneuvering herself quietly to escape,
23:02Ellie must play the creepiest game of hide-and-seek we've ever encountered.
23:06In a final desperate struggle,
23:08Ellie breaks free and hacks away at his face with his own machete.
23:11On top of his demise,
23:12it's also a relief to see Ellie survive what was clearly a traumatic experience.
23:17He tried to...
23:19Oh, baby girl.
23:21It's okay.
23:22It's okay.
23:22It's okay.
23:23No.
23:245.
23:25Micah Bell
23:26Red Dead Redemption 2
23:28There I was,
23:29having a dull day only for you,
23:32to liven it up
23:33by letting me help you shoot up half a town.
23:36You're a funny fella, Arthur.
23:37Real funny.
23:38He shot up a whole town
23:40just for the sheriff's confiscating his guns.
23:42He acted as a mole within Dutch's gang for the Pinkertons,
23:46resulting in the gang falling apart.
23:48And he killed Arthur.
23:50Micah is the worst.
23:51Eventually,
23:52John Marston and Sadie Adler track Micah down to the mountains,
23:56but in a last-minute reveal,
23:57Dutch is with Micah,
23:58as the two are supposedly rebuilding the gang.
24:01Yet,
24:02thanks to John's smart wits,
24:03Micah gets a reward that only a traitor deserves.
24:06Even better,
24:07you get to deliver the final blow.
24:124.
24:14Vladimir Makarov
24:16Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
24:18What happens here today
24:19will change the world forever.
24:22Nothing can stop this.
24:24Not even you.
24:28The overarching villain of the Modern Warfare trilogy
24:31and the leader of a terrorist group,
24:33Makarov has done some pretty horrendous things.
24:36He led a massacre against innocent civilians to start a war,
24:39he kidnapped the Russian president,
24:41and used his daughter to get his country to invade Europe.
24:44Oh,
24:45and it turns out he was responsible for that nuke
24:47in the first Modern Warfare game.
24:49Damn right this bastard deserves to die.
24:52He's eventually killed by Captain Price
24:53in a brutal scene
24:54where he's beaten through a glass roof
24:56and hung by a stray cord.
24:58Now that's justice.
25:003.
25:00Mr. X
25:01Resident Evil 2
25:03Sorry, Nemesis.
25:09You've been dethroned.
25:10While you were satisfying to pump full of lead in the original,
25:14the remake turned you into a joke.
25:16But as it turns out,
25:17there was someone else worthy of the crown
25:19for one of the best Resident Evil games in recent years.
25:22Throughout your time at the police station,
25:24this walking indestructible tank will track you down to no end,
25:28causing a lot of fear and anxiety within the player.
25:31But stick through Leon's campaign
25:32and you'll eventually get a chance to take him down.
25:35But not before taking him on
25:37in one of the toughest battles in the Resident Evil series.
25:40That's why it's so damn sweet to blast him off his feet.
25:492.
25:50Edgar Ross
25:51Red Dead Redemption
25:52The man who kidnapped John Marston's wife and son
26:06in order to use John to take out his old gang
26:09was a clear no-brainer.
26:11It was bad enough that John was forced
26:12to do the government's dirty deeds.
26:14It was worse when Ross tried to later have John
26:17and his family killed to cover up his actions.
26:19Although John sacrificed his life
26:21to ensure his wife and son escaped,
26:23witnessing his son loading Edgar up with rounds
26:26and seeing him rot in his own filth
26:28was the perfect conclusion to this Wild West tale.

26:53Number 1.
26:56Ganondorf
26:57The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
26:59In Breath of the Wild,
27:09we saw how much misery Calamity Ganon caused.
27:12The destruction of Hyrule
27:13and the deaths of untold numbers,
27:15including Link and Zelda's closest friends.
27:17In Tears of the Kingdom,
27:19we got more detail on the man at its core.
27:21Ganondorf murdered Queen Sonia,
27:23stealing her secret stone
27:24to transform into the Demon King.
