00:00President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. says the government will not allocate new funds for flood control projects in the 2026 national budget.
00:09This comes as congressional investigations link many lawmakers, including his cousin Speaker Martin Romualdez, Senators Gingua Estrada and Joel Villanueva, to alleged kickbacks from public works contractors.
00:20In his BBM podcast, Marcos says the P350 billion already set aside for 2025 was enough if only it were spent properly.
00:28We already are seeing na lahat ng flood control project na dapat nilalagay sa 2026 na budget, hindi na siguro kailangan.
00:39So there will be no budget for 2026 for flood control. Dahil meron naman P350 billion for 2025 na hindi pa na uubos talaga.
00:48He also assures the public that ongoing projects will continue and contractors found to have delivered defective work must fix it at their own expense.
00:56He adds, restoring integrity in infrastructure spending by stopping the misuse of taxpayers' money was a priority.
