00:00Changes are coming to train services on the East Coast Mainline.
00:04LNER is preparing to introduce a new timetable that will add thousands of services each year
00:09and increase capacity across the route.
00:12The operator says the number of trains between London and Newcastle will rise,
00:15with three services per hour planned in each direction.
00:19A new limited stop service is also being introduced,
00:22linking Newcastle and London in under three hours.
00:25Weekday services from London's King Cross will see a significant increase,
00:29and weekend timetables will expand as well.
00:32In total, the new schedule will provide tens of thousands of extra seats each week.
00:37To support the changes, LNER will recruit more staff,
00:41including drivers, onboard crew and station teams.
00:44The timetable follows years of planning and investment in both trains and railway infrastructure.
00:49The company says the aim is to give passengers more frequent journeys
00:53and greater choice when travelling along the East Coast Mainline.
