00:00Should it be a woman?
00:02I think ideally. I think it's good if you've got a balanced leadership team.
00:05And we've got some brilliant women who are putting themselves forward.
00:10Women who are government ministers, women who are on our back benches.
00:14And, you know, one thing I'd say beyond the deputy leadership,
00:18you look at the cabinet that Keir Starmer's surrounded himself with.
00:21First time in history, actually, that all of the so-called great offices of state,
00:25your Chancellor, your Foreign Secretary, Home Secretary, are all women for the first time.
00:29And they were appointed on merit.
00:31But I think it's a wonderful thing that having seen women underrepresented in our politics for so long,
00:37that women are rising to the top.
00:39And right across the cabinet, you've got people from different backgrounds,
00:42different parts of the country, different perspectives.
00:45And that matters not to tick boxes or for tokenism.
00:48But if we're making decisions every day that are affecting the lives of millions of people
00:52in every part of the country, you do need different perspectives.
